On the date of their 36th birthday, who had a better resume, Calzaghe or Hopkins. People want to compare their resumes, but they are clearly not at the same stage in their careers. Wins only please.
Hopkins, won IBF title vs Segundo Mercado, defended it 12 times.
Calzaghe, won WBO title vs Chris Eubank, defended it 21 times, won IBF title vs Jeff Lacy, defended it once, won WBA and WBC titles vs Mikkel Kessler.
No one is "exposing" Bernard. He was a late bloomer that will likely make it into the HOF. But to crap on Calzaghe's resume when he's not done yet and compare it to a 7 year older fighter is not exactly fair either, comprende?
Yeah I understand you want to beat the whole Calzaghe/Hopkins resume thing right into the ground. WTF is the point? They fight in 48 hours.
Real original with the bottles. What are you 5? :ugh:
You just simply can't use age when two people started boxing at different points in their lives. I'm sorry that you were unable to "expose" Bernard. Now keep it movin.

Because Hopkins had only been a pro for 13 years by then?
Here you go:bottle: :bottle: :bottle:

Hopkins didn't blow up big until he beat Felix. Then years later he had Oscar, Tarver, and Winky. With the Eubank fight yeras behind him, Joe C blew up when he beat Lacy in '06 then Kessler last year. Both had long reigns but not a lot of names on their lists until recent memory. Edge goes to Joe C.
You still don't get that your poll question sucks. It holds no weight in comparing the two fighters.

Name one big name fighter on Johnson's resume when he fought Hopkins. I'll make it easier, name a CONTENDER on Johnson's record up till then. And how many titles had Glen won by then (hint, ZERO). Only 6 of Glen's opponents up till then weren't coming off of losses.
According to you, Clinton Mitchell should be an ATG, because he beat an undefeated Bernard Hopkins.:pat:

yes, Glen Johnson.. go away.

a better question to ask is... 10, or 15 years into each of their careers, who accomplished more...
picking an age doesnt work because they started their careers at different ages
you cannot be that dumb, man. you are trying to judge who accomplished more by a period of time in there careers.. askiNg who accomplished more by 36 is f'n stupid.. man, its a retarted weak argument. Hops was a pro for only 13 years when he was 36, Joe was a pro for 16 years.. THATS three years longer :duh:
GREAT ARGUMENT YOU CLOWN SHOE. :puppy_dog
So you honestly think Hopkins had a better resume of wins on his 36th birthday (I see your vote?) Then why try to argue so hard about length of career at that age? Is it because you see that the overwhelming majority of people so far don't agree with you?
but Hopks started his career at 23 yrs old you donkey!! :puppy_dog :puppy_dog
Just answer the question and go away, son. We all know there's no point in arguing with you.
why would you say that doesnt include trinidad?
truth be told i take my comment back
thier resumes are even the guy that posted before me said hopkins
finally unidied the division when he was 36 isnt that the same
age calzaghe did it? just wondering
It's not that difficult. THIRTY SIXTH birthday (at which point Hopkins had a single title.) And no Calzaghe was 35.
Do you still not understand the thread?
Let me simplify it for you. Who had the better resume of wins when Bernard was the same age as Joe is now? And that doesn't include Trinidad.

take that into account. Joe has been pro for like 16 years, now look at there resume's after 16 years of boxing pro..
Yup. Makes much more sense. :boxing:

It doesn't really matter, because they started fighting at different ages. But Hop was 36 when he fought Tito. I really don't think the months mean that much.
Bernard Hopkins DOB: January 15, 1965
Bernard Hopkins vs. Tito Trinidad: September 29, 2001
Am I missing something?
"After 14 years at age 36, HOPKINS has finally unified the Middleweight division in boxing."

calzaghe does, but you really cant compare calzaghe and hopkins on that because hopkins started his career in 1988 when he was 23 and then took
two years because he lost his first fight he came back when he was 25 and thats when he took boxing seriously and got in shape.
calzaghe started his career when he was 20 years old thats about a 5 year
difference ..... you do the math
Before he turned 36. Next.

Am I missing something? He was 36, we seriously doin it by months/days? I think we need their birth times before we move on.

Glen Johnson, go away.
A green, untested Johnson beats all of Calzaghe's resume? Try again son. Anyone with half a brain knows that Johnson was a late bloomer, like Hopkins, and that all of Glen's biggest wins came much much after his fight with Bernard.
