I've read a lot of threads in here and seems to be a lot of hate for b-hop. One of the main reasons is because he so-called boring. He is dirty. He talks to much. He fought blown-up welterweights and bums. He lost to "double dutch Taylor" and Roy Jones so he going to lose to Joe. He ducked Joe
To me he is not boring by far. In his earlier fights he was more aggressive. A little after the Tito fight he switch his style a little for longevity and it made him more of a better fighter overrall. When he fight it like art and breaks down fighters for the whole 12 round. He is probably one the few that could have in a different era with 13 or 15 rounds. I also think he would benifit from the extra rounds. I sorry he's not exciting to most but the object is to win and due whatever it takes to win.
The sport of boxing has always been dirty and will always be dirty. When somebody is in there trying to take your head off you would probably try something get a advantage. It seems that some of ya'll forget this is fight with someone pounding on you. Every fighter has some type of tricks but b-hop know how to get away with his by doing it on the opposite side of the ref and use his whole bag a tricks. cotto and tito low blows when hurt, sam peter and joe calz hit behind the head.
Please stop crying about the fighters talking. They are suppose to do that when media comes around. If there was no media there would be no talking. Plus it helps build-up the fight and make you want to watch it more. Two nice fighter draw less interest. If you don't want hear it than stay the off of boxing sites.
In boxing there is always someone either going up or down in weight class. If lower weight class fighter can get credit for the fight if he wins, than why not the person thats already there. Most say tito, odlh, and winky was out of there weightclass. Damn Only Three Out Of his 54 fights. JUST #3 wow when every fighter end up someone out of there weightclass. Tito only came up 7 pound and lost but was suppose to fight rjj if he won at 168, huuummmm
I think joe have to come up 7 pounds so B-hop don't credit for that if he wins. yeah what ya'll say joe walks around at 190 so do winky right. i guess winky , verron forrest, and cotto don't get credit beating sugar shane. morales don't credit for pac--man.
Most forget that there was a time no one wanted to fight Bernard and the boss did not like him either because of what said in the Ali Act.(go do some research) He could not get a lot of fights so that meant fighting mandotories.
in between that he fought everyone in his division. Joe lispey undefeated at the time, simon brown former champ, glen johnson undefeated, john david jackson former middleweight champ, echols #1 contender, vanderpool #1 contender, keith holmes had a belt, tito had a belt, carl daniels had a belt, joppy former champ, oscar stole a belt, eastman #1 contender, tarver also had a belt.
jones, taylor, and joe have speed true but they all are different fighters. jones presented problems for everybody expect tarver. it hard to describe his style cause was not extra aggressive, did not use a jab really. He really like to jump with the left or right hook and like to sit back and pot shot. taylor had speed and power and also had a weird double dutch style. i honestly think b-hop could not make weight anymore in those two fights. i also think he respected taylor power too much and started one round two late in those fight even thou i had with a win and a draw. but i think those two losts helped him in the long run. if watched the two fights after the taylor fights he picked up his punch output and seemed to be more stronger at 175.
I not no Joe hater or anything i respect what he has done. i think he is great fighter. I do think he has a chance to win. this what make this fight even better. i would not have been this hyped for it 5 years ago because he would seem like another glen johnson undefeated with a belt, and 30 someting wins on b-hop resume. i sorry joe did not have this hype 5 years ago. this is far from a money fight for b-hop cause if fought for money he would have took it 5 years ago. the one thing that stands out the most to me is joe stated already he has trouble with fighter who sit back and are defensive. the other thing is joe foot movement which is horrible to me. this was something he used against winky. when otherdox fighters fight southpaw they end up butting heads. i think there will be a well placed head butt after the 4th round. i see b-hop fighting off the back foot timing joe all day. he will also fight on the inside to fustrate joe into swinging wildly and hurting him when he make mistakes. i think hopkins will win
p.s. i'm not try to convince no joe fans or the people that are picking him. i think more people are picking joe cause they don't like what b-hop had to say and cause joe is more exciting to the eye and is volume puncher
bernard is a great fighter but people like to discredit other fighters like calzaghe and say that he has not fought anyone so people point out the flaws in hopkins resume
you don't have to discredit anybody to make fav fighter the proof is the work.
i may not like joe but it takes alot to undefeated for that long

Philadelphia: At least it's not Camden. I hope bernard represents. at 42 he is still stepping out there against top competition. he deserves respect as an ATG.

215, show ya loyalty homie, bet all the points. I started that talk right when the fight was beginning to be talked about, even before the Mayweather-Hatton weigh-in. Fumin readily agreed.
He's gunna be a sad, sad boxingscene'r some April 19th.

yea i also give him credit for clearing up in prison and starting boxing up again in a place like that. Another good thing about him is that hes not a a-hole but does talk too much sometimes but hes all brain and hes really smart and when he talks boxing he talks the truth. So what if he headbuts or holds? The man is what 43, all old people have thier bag of tricks and secrets, just ask your grandpa!
Bernard has proven himself as a great fighter no matter what his haters say about him. He can be rightfully criticized for some dull performances, but who cares about the shit he talks or how he acts? All that matters is the shit he's accomplished inside the ring.
