Is this his only true chance for a rematch? To immediately step up to 135 and challenge a champion in hopes for a show down with Manny should he win against Diaz? Who should he fight if so? I think this is his best chance towards improving his legacy and having the rubbermatch with Manny.
Too bad you couldnt force campbell to take a fight between now and the time pac-diaz winner emerges if his life depended on it. lol
money talks and if Golden boy could offer him the biggest payday of his career against Marquez I highly doubt he would pass, ya think?
Out of ANYBODY within 20lbs of Pacquiao...Marquez is the only 1 that wants a fight with Pacquiao NOT for a giant payday. Both Casamayor and Campbell are concerned with giant paydays. You couldnt force Campbell to risk his belts if his life depended on it right now because he knows Pacquiao will come knocking for them after diaz. Campbell and Casamayor also both know that between the 2 of them...Campbell is the more attractive option for a Pacquiao fight. So for Casamayor...with very little in the tank...will have to rack up a win against Marquez if he wants to come within 15ft of Pac so he can play the "I beat the guy that almost beat you" card
Both great points, both with truth. Well said.
You people are nuts if you think he should stay at 130. Pacquiao/Marquez just did 400,000 buys. That means that both guys are money fighters and anyone in that lightweight division that wants a big payday (see: Campbell, Nate and Casamayor, Joel) should be looking at Marquez since Pacquiao's apparently tied up with Diaz.
Really? I feel he's to concerned about money right now. Not to downplay Marquez's ability to draw an audience, but Casamayor called out only big names in Pacquiao and even a knowingly retired Barerra. I think he's just trying to get one last big payday because realistically, he capitalized off a poor mistake made by an over-anxious Katsidis (who though I love, lacks a true boxing ability at least thus far) and was losing that fight quickly. Marquez I think may be more a risk than a reward to Casamayor and I think Nate Campbell is only interested in fighting Casamayor at this point, though I'm sure the thought of having Pacquiao in that division is giving him a hard on.

There wont be any good fights for Marquez at 130 cuz Pacquiao is taking half the division with him to 135. Even if Marquez goes up to 135 there are still no guarantees for a 3rd fight with Pacquiao. Grab some belts from Campbell or Casamayor however and you just painted yourself a much different picture.
Between Campbell on Casamayor tho...Casa would be the only 1 i could picture even considering a Marquez fight.

there's lots of good fights for jmm at jr. lightweight.... the only reason he should go up to lightweight is if he's guaranteed a 3rd fight with Pac.

I had Pac winning the 1st fight. 2nd fight was a draw. And i think Marquez should fight Casamayor. Undisputed championship is only a pitstop 4 Pacquiao. His ultimate goal is Casamayor and the record settin 4division lineal championship. It would be a better strategic move for Marquez to beat Casamayor because it forces Pacquiao to forego the undisputed championship and pursue the lineal championship 1st. Killing 2birds with 1 stone and giving Marquez the opportunity to deny Pac of both if he wins a rubbermatch.
YOU NEVER NO IT COULD HAPPEN THAT WAY
It very well could my friend....it very well could......
I dont think Marquez could stop Pac from history even if everything plays out the way i hope it will... but there is no denying that possibility
Nah, I say he should stay at 130lbs & attempt to take over that division, b/c it is no guarantee if he moves to lightweight that Arum & Co are going to accept the offers for the rematch!
They'll have a lot harder time not accepting it if he becomes the other major staple in that division, moreover, it's entirely possible they could lose the leverage they have currently. There will always be value to a Pacquiao-Marquez trilogy, but how much could be determined by where Marquez goes and what he accomplishes.

While that is true, think of the impression that would leave on Pacquiao and the leverage is gives Marquez in his own career. He holds three belts then and is now in a position to be a big money fighter on his own; he may not even need Pacquiao at that point though i'm sure his pride would never keep him from fighting him again. Sure Casamayor would be easier than Campbell but a Campbell dismanteling would be a hell of a statement for Marquez to make to the lightweight division. Right now the Lightweight division is almost as hot as the Welterweight division and if Marquez and Pacquiao both move up, the more money they are able to make. At this point in the game I think Marquez should go all out and go for the gusto; there's more for him at 135.
I think moving up to 135 would be a risky move for Marquez
but for whatever its worth Marquez totally dominated a fighter in peden that beat campbell twice.
I know theirs more intangibles involved (you lost to him, so i can beat you kind of thinking) but maybe the Marquez's team might consider fighting campbell because of that. In order to bring something to the table for a third match with the pacman it might be worth the risk.
Yeah I would have to agree with you

i still call both fight a draw i dont care what pacs fans say...and yes i agree with your post

yes he should and he should beat campbell. that will create the utimate drama with pacquaio holding one belt and marquez holding 3 but pacman beat marquez twice and marquez will still be the top guy at lightweight. that will definitley force them to go for the trilogy.

Marquez would murder, and I mean GROTESQUELY MURDER Casamayor, but I'd much rather see Michael get a rematch against the old man but I doubt that will ever happen.
I wouldn't go that far but there's no doubt he counter punches his way to a victory. He's easily the sharper boxer at 34. I would also love to see Katsidis get another go at Casamayor but until Katsidis achieves superstar status, we can keep dreaming.
i think you are right about campbell vs marquez. Marquez would counter him to a ten count.

marquez has the goods to trouble campbell all night ....if he trys that style he did on juan to marquez he will eat leather all night and he will lose marquez will counter that ass all night....marquez should stay out of slug matches for now till he gets to manny ....i dont think manny really wants this fight though

The safer route would be to challenge Casamayor instead of Campbell thou.
Campbell presents a much more physical and grueling fight than Casa.
