After watching the Lee vs Vera fight I was thinking well it was a good fight for both guys, because they had similar records.
It was Lee's 16th fight and since Anthony Peterson was a guest on the show and 1 of the most protected fighters in my opinion I had to see who he faced for his 16th pro fight...it was Steve Verdin wo was 5-26-2 now thats what Im talking about! :lol1:

Ronald Hearns has been very protected, especially for a fighter who is in his late 20's.
He had a short amateur career though, he started late
That is true, but it plays out better for a 21 y/o like Chavez. Hearns is at his physical peak now and I don't see where he is benefiting from fighting in one mismatch after another. I'd like to see him gradually stepping up his competition.
The Overprotected:
The most overprotected is Dmitri Salita (28-0), who hasn't fought anyone who has the remotest chance of defeating him.
Faruq Saleem (37-0) age 34 still a prospect?
Donnell Holmes (28-0) age 35
Alonzo Butler (26-0)
Roman Greenberg (27-0)
Carl Davis Drumond (24-0) age 33 another old prospect
Malik Scott (30-0) will he ever step up?
Yuri Foreman (24-0)
Lamont Peterson (24-0)
Anthony Peterson (26-0)
Demetrius Hopkins (28-0) this guy ducked his title shot!
Some of those guys (especially the heavyweights) are just waiting for a big TV spot. Basically they don't want to risk losing for small money. Most of them aren't even making enough to live on. That's more of an explanation rather than a valid excuse. The Peterson brothers definitely need to step it up already though. Salita's people tried to get him on HBO against Gatti and then DLH but were turned down.

Nice list & good post. :beerchug:
In the Ring mag top 10, he beat Collazo already. Mosley can beat Quintana and Cintron. Against Margarito and Williams, might be a close fight.
Paul Williams? I think Mosley would KO him, hes faster and has more power than Quintana.
Cotto fight feather fisted fighters. After torres he fought guys with no punch. Urkal, Paulie, Shane at 147, when he was best at 140. I'll give him Zab, but he was on a string of losses. And Quintana has no punch. Didnt finish Joel Julio, PW and his punches didnt do shit on Cotto.
If he fights the Margarito-Cintron winner, will that satisfy you? If it doesn't then I'd like to know which big welterweight punchers Cotto is supposedly avoiding.
mosley wont beat ANY TOP NAMES at 147.

JULIO CESAR CHAVEZ JR. (35-0-1) is the most protected one in boxing, pherhaps he might have talent but we'll never now cuz he keep fighting this tomatoe cans in order to paddle his record while milking on his father's fame!!!
good point.

yeah but judah was coming off a string of losses and Mosley was a perfectly timed fight. he was a fighter that was way past his prime. He had only beaten a sorry Vargas that lost to Mayorga and had a lackluster win against a guy that Hatton beat, although it was close.
I can understand you on that texanballer
Judah gives you a good fight. Mosley, even though past his prime, can beat some of the top 10 out there.
yea but he ain't a prospect :S
Amir Khan or Chavez Jr. but tbf there really young and still developing.
amir khan is 21 with only 16 fights under his belt. in 2007 I think he fought like 7 times and only once against a guy with atleast 5 losses and their total records were about 130-10. He is far from protected. he might be the least protected prospect who is at this stage in their careers that I've ever seen.
im not knocking him at all, Hes got talent, just been shielding him from showing it against good competition
Cotto has been fighting top prosepects..Quintana, Malinaggi..you see those fights? Then Mosley and Judah who is game but not the best. Mosley beat DLH and Mayweather chose to fight Oscar..and is considered the best.
Gomez is the first guy who I think is a lower level opponent for him.
wwwhhhoooaaa!!!
thats kinda out of the blue, seeing that you go to SAV's every once in a while. But i'll give it to you. I say Cotto. that my opinion, now I know i will get hated on.

Not hating on you but in his last 2 fights were against Judah and Mosley. Then will fight Gomez this year.
I agree with that statement about losses. Look at mma the best guys in the sport usually have a few losses. How many losses does Couture have. That's a fight game that is growing rapidly.
Right, what determines a great fighter is fighting guys that are tough and on or above their level not beating up bums, thats what sucks about boxing..the up and coming fighters has beefed up winning records but its like building a house of cards, when they step up suddenly for that big shot they get beat down while the guy with a few losses that IS actually a great fighter gets no opportunities at bigger fights and shitty paydays.
Lotta guys protected. Hearns, Chavez jr all those dudes.
One loss and they ain't getting paydays no more at least not five, six, and seven digits.
it's the rule of business these days. be a hero and a warrior and make a couple hundred, fight in an undercard and get 10k.
you lose you're back to fights in the ramada hotel making a couple hundred bucks.
and while i am at, fans are such front runners in this sport. you wouldn't do that to your pro football teams when they lose a playoff game. you keep rootin.
this attitude of a couple losses killing careers and calling the guys bums has gotta go.
i think it's messin up boxing
flash file.

Tye Fields.
What the hell you talking about. Tye Fields has fought a bunch of good heavyweights. Its not his fault his being avoided by the likes of Peter, Klitsko, and Chagaev.
