I hate to make a habit of agreeing with Max, but he's right, JMM may be the best of his era at his weight. He is also right (as was Bob Papa) in saying that Marquez beat Pac in both fights and was ducked by everyone for a long, long time.
JMM will be remembered in boxing history decked by Pac 5 times thats for sure and lost both fight. The first fight because of the judge scoring error. The second fight should be 114-112 for Pac because of the 2nd kd on the 3rd rd did not called by the ref in favor of JMM. If I'm to be fair with JMM I should say the 2 fights were both close and can go either way. They maybe both equal in overall but Pac slightly better because he did beat Morales and Barrera in brutal fashion, while true JMM beat Barrera but it was debatable and Barrera decked him also.
Although I agreed with almost everything he said, I did disagree with one thing. Hamed was willing to fight him when he fought Barrera. He DECLINED that fight and Barrera made the history. That could be his own fault.
Other then that, it's sad and I hope history is kinder to Marquez then todays dumbass fans are.

You Dropped A Bomb On Me!
fatoe is dope huh. he has another boxing piece too.
Marquez def won the 2nd fight and arguably the 1st too I gave alot of what some called the close rounds to JMM his work was much more sleekand hurtful for most of the fight, they were not close rounds for me.
Pac is shown to be a very ordinary fighter when made to think and box, the polar opposite of the dangerous fighter he is when people go toe to toe with him or rather flurry to flurry. In a flurry there was no one matching him at that weight.
I thought Marquez won both fights the first one wasn't even close after the first round, he needs to get the credit to being right there on par atleast when it comes to the best of his era.
Maybe he can win a title at lightweight and cemet his legacy.
Marquez beat Pac at his own game in the 2nd fight.
Had Marquez fought in his counter laid back style he beats Pac handedly.
He'd beat Barrera, but it would still be a war, unless Marquez of old shows up and counters. Old Barrera still gave Pacquiao hell in there rematch and forced Pacquiao to be tentative and stunned Pacquiao a few times.
Morales is the fighter that im not so sure if Marquez could beat. I think it'd be a very close fight. But calm counter puncher Marquez would probably beat Morales, but it'd be close cause Morales was one hell of a counter puncher himself in his prime.
Marquez is one of the best counter punchers of his generation if not the best, and one of the best if not the best technical boxers.
He fought very close fights with Pacquiao 2 times, both fights could've gone either way. Accomplishment-wise, Marquez is not on the level of Barrera and Morales but skill-wise, he's up there.
Marquez is probably better than MAB and Erik, but he'll be considered equals with Pac. He's the better boxer, made both fights close as fuck and could have won either, but couldn't get the decision in 2 fights and got dropped 4 times, so his greatness will be overlooked by a lot of people.
I agreed with him to. I think Marquez is better then both Barrear and Morales. he beat barrera, and i along with tons of others think that Marquez has beaten Pacquiao twice now.
You could make an argument for the fact that Marquez is still undefeated, which is rediculously impressive.

I agree that JMM is the best of his era at his weight, but to rely on his scorecards for the 2 fights? I don't know, I got my own 2 eyes, and it says otherwise.
Max Kellerman's opinion about the 2 fights carries as much weight as mine, or yours for that matter. It counts for NOTHING! The fights were close and it could've gone either way. Put it to rest and let us respect the judges' decision...
