2008 has been a great year for the one loss retards.
Williams loss to Quintana, Diaz loss to Campbell and now the Lee loss to Vera.
To become a member of this group you must do the following:
i. When a successful fighter loses, immediately disregard any successes he has had up until that point. Any hard fought wins or excellent performances must fade into nothing, like your own boxing career. Like an autistic person who focuses on a light switch the background of a porn movie, you must disregard the main part of his career and focus only on the recent loss.
ii. Once a fighter loses, you must make noise about how he has been shown up, that he was always really a bum and you said it all along. Use the phrase "I told you so" at least 4 times in every sentence.
iii. If a successful fighter loses his 0, you must berate and ridicule any person who has acknowledged or praised the fighter in the past. You can use this to elevate your position as a knowledgeable boxing fan in the eyes of other One Loss Retards.
iiii. Finally, don't stop at just ridiculing the fighter, his fans, boxing experts and boxing fans. Try to be inventive and make threads about how his trainer is also a bum. Manny Steward is a prime example, disregard his hall of fame status, all of the world champions and success he has had in the past and ridicule him. If his fighter lost then by One Loss Retard logic he is a bum.
Membership to the One Loss Retards can be gained through constant thread making with the aforementioned strategies.

Thats a spot on post....Good shit man.
ya really gotta question katisidis chin and style. being a pressure fighter and having a bad chin doesnt work out to well. he's been dropped in his last 3 fights against 3 light punchers. things could be revealing itself........
Here we go! Case in point!!! Were you saying that before he lost? I'm guessing not.
Anyway, this is a fantastic thread Mickey and gives me hope that there are still folks here that have some common sense and logic. I tried to give you K but it's not working for some stupid god damn reason!
I actually do see this as one of the big reasons for todays shite state of boxing. There are just so many morons that jump on the bandwagon of a fighter only to jump off it one fight later when he loses a big fight. It's utterly pathetic!
Much like the knob above...."Things could be revealing itself...." Ummm, no, everything was already revealed but you had obviously not followed his career up until one fight ago...or even until his fight with Casamayor. That is why he is exciting, because he doesn't have ten tons of skill but is all heart! Classic case of a One Loss Retard right there.

This is what happens when you have NEW fans to Fight sports, they are so used to there FIGHTNIGHT Round 3 video game where they created a boxer who went 200 and 0 in career mode, and if that boxer got one blemish they get angry and delete it and make a new one
:boxing: haha
This thread is pure gennius, Mickey. No doubt about it you hit the nail on the head. If I can add anything it's this:
The One Loss Retards are the reason why the heavyweight division in particular, and boxing on a whole, is seeing less exciting match-ups. In the golden age of boxing a fighter could lose today and fight again in three weeks and wip away the defeat easily. Now boxers fight only once, twice or maybe three times a year once they hit a level of decent recognition. You have hungry young fighters- green and inexperienced- like Andre Berto...who are forced to take extremely small, tiny baby steps in their career. Why can't they step up more quickly? Because if you take a loss like Lee, or Katsidis, or Williams the one loss retards- which include a sizeable amount of the boxing public- turn their back on you. Fighters know. Their promoters and trainers and managers know, too. Why throw your new heavy who could shake up the division into the type of fights that could define his style and career early? The risk is too great.
With the One Loss Retards lurking in the shadows the world's Katsidis's don't want to be in exciting fights like the one against Casamayor. They want to fight bums who makes them look great so the Retards stay on their bandwagon. They don't want to take challenges. Katsidis was in an amazing fight and the One Loss Retards are smothering his chances for another big televised fight.
If we want young heavyweights to start fighting eachother to clear out the contenders from the pretenders the One Loss Retards need to shut up. If we want more exciting, meaningful fights like Mayweather-Cotto would be; the One Loss Retards need to make having a single loss less than the end of a career.
As it stands now these Retards are causing fighters to be more cautious with their careers than they once were....and the fight game is suffering!
I felt so bad, seeing Katsidis in the post fight interview, looking very sad. It reminded me of Taylor after his KO loss to Pavlik. Even though I was supporting the other guy in both instances, I just felt plain bad for the loser. I really hope Katsidis makes it back to the position he was in- he deserves it.
Mickey, have I ever told you that you are my hero?
Great post Mickey. Shows the front running nature of boxing fans these days.
nice thread mick!
I feel the love, Skillzy I got your 10k post present ready.

I see you are a dedicated member of the club.
And Lee never said he would beat Pavlik. Manny said it purely as promtional strategy (which resulted in Lee signing with TopRank).
what had Lee done to warrant his status? Face it he was overrated, everyone and their momma's thought that Lee would beat Vera, and instead he was knocked out, im not saying that Lee is a bad fighter, all im saying is that he was overrated, he still has a future, but he needs to improve greatly if he expects to contend for the middleweight title in the near future, because i cant see him beating anyon in the top 10
I mostly agree with what your saying, except about Lee. Lee was truly overrated, and he got beat by a crude club fighter, after his trainer and he said he was ready for Kelly Pavlik. I do think that deriding a fighter for one tough loss is dumb (ie. Williams loss, Diaz loss, Taylor loss to Pavlik, Sugar Shane Mosley loss to Winky & Vernon).
