De La Hoya eying Pacquiao

Cotto-Judah did about 200,000 buys. Cotto-Mosley did something around 350,000 buys. Cotto-Margarito/Cintron will probably do in the 300,000 range. If Floyd does anywhere near 1.5 mil with DLH, which is a possibility, and Cotto keeps active Mayweather-Cotto will do much better than 600,000 buys. It might do 500,000 or 600,000 buys if it happened this summer/fall, but by spring/summer 2009 it will do 1 mil buys.

ya cotto vs floyd will probally do 600lk which is big numbers for ppv but not astronomical like oscar vs floyd jr or hatton vs floyd jr which was like 850k domestic. I think cotto would be a hard sell yes he can speak english now but the guy is just boring lol. While tito trinidad is fun loving, energetic and smiling all the time he is the golden boy of PR. Didnt Oscar vs mayorga do like 900,000 ppv buys? that was pretty amazing compared to oscar vs sturm with bernard hopkins on the under card which only did 400,000 ppv buys i think. ya but i think thats because Mayorga is a legitimate draw by himself. Him and Floyd would do HUGE numbers. Mayorga is the type of guy that everybody just wants to see fight.

Mayweather-DLH 2 is going to break 1 mil. And Mayweather-Cotto, if it happens after Mayweather-DLH 2, will probably break 1 mil buys also.

300,000 ppv buys are good numbers. that shows he is steady, floyd jr used to bring in 325-350k before oscar. Its all about the right timing and marketing and floyd jr was able to make himself a villian and people tuned in. but I agree cotto doesnt really gain interest he is just a simple guy no anger, no comedy just plain. but he is a great fighter though. Oh hes definately a good fighter. Ya i know theyre not bad numbers, but i was responding to the statement that him and Floyd could probably match a rematch between Floyd and Oscar number wise. Cotto will get his shot Im sure, but a win over Oscar again for Floyd (which im not sure is guaranteed), and Cotto getting another belt or so makes Cotto-Mayweather bigger down the line, which I believe is the only reason why this fight isnt happening right now.

I think Mayweather/Cotto will do pretty damn well. I think thats the problem, people overestimate the kind of draw that cotto is. His fights do about 300,000 id say, Tito Trinidad is still a bigger draw than him out of Puerto Rico because Trinidad brings that visible passion of the country. Even a 24/7 cant really increase that, because Cotto is not really a person that gains peoples interest.

I'd rather see this then Mayweather De La Hoya 2. I hope De La Hoya backs out, fights Pacquiao and then Mayweather fights Cotto. Yeah...there we go.

I heard Oscar was making trips down to the local schoolyard to see if any of the kids there wanted to "go." Isn't it terrible? He's getting more and more out of control. AND, the unfortunate thing is because of his name and the money that can be made, poor Pacquiao and any other miniature fighter will continue to allow this to happen. I don't see a way in the world Oscar makes 147, or Pacquiao being affective above 140!

I don't see this happening. Until I hear it out of Oscar's mouth, I don't believe it. Oscar likes challenges, and Pacquaio won't be much of a challenge for him. I doubt very much this happens. I think its just a publicity thing to get pinoys to pay attention to Oscar. This will be a true circus fight if it happens. I truley believe Oscar would fight Cotto, Quintana or even Margarito before he would even consider Pacquaio.

This is a disgrace if this fight ever does happen. Oscar will blow little Pacquiao out of the water. Oscar's a natural 154 lber and Pacquiaos a natural 130 pounder, what a disgrace to the sport of boxing if this fight comes off. It will generate alot of money but there is no poin in that fight happeneing ever.
