kelly said that taylor used a elbow while throwing his shots when he was stun and if you look at the replay he did it not once but twice and that what pavlik was saying to taylor watch those fuckin elbows when he should have been protecting himself... i,m surprised he didn,t get warned for those bows... i think kelly will not give taylor any free shots this time so that tells me that the fight would have ended earlier than it did in the first fight because kelly just wears fighters down due to constant pressure and heavy shots...so i,m thinking that this weekend fight between these guys not go as far as the last... jermaine hit that guy with some bombs on the button that were freebies and the man got right up ... anybody else would haven,t got up for a few minutes if not longer... just my opinion but that got to do something to you knowing that you hit this guy hard as you could and he got right up to finish you off ... even taylor said to manny that he,s doing everything he could but nothings working... any thoughts???
I have the fight in HQ and have watched the kd about a dozen times. I didn't see any elbows. I've heard this before and don't know where its coming from. Its bullshit.
You aint looking too hard then...
Watching the fight again, I only see ONE elbow. And it is blocked by Kelly. The left elbow to the right of Pavlik's glove. Don't think Taylor was trying to hit him with it, more trying to stop his arm from coming forward.
i was saying that taylor used his elbows during the fight as well as during the prelude to the knockdown when pavlik was stunned. it's clear as day tghat taylor used his elbows, it's all in the replay, and true to form, the HBO commentary didn't acknowledge it, but there is no denying that taylor was throwing elbow shots.
that is why pavlik, when he blocked one of them, he went to stick his tongue when he was stunned, pavliks fault there, but then he got hit again and went to his knees. but it was taylor throwing elbows that opened pavlik up, and it just wasn't there either throughout the fight taylor was using his elbows.
just stating facts, that is all, and you know what? it isnt going to matter because it's going to be a win again for pavlik. pavlik is going to stop taylor again, i think it's his only chance seeing that taylor always gets the favoritism with the scoring from the the judges.....................
I see about 10 clean punches landing there with maybe 2 elbows used to push Kelly's ARMS out of the way as Kelly falls in hurt...
elbows didn't stun Kelly..clean punches did
Taylor absolutely caught Pavlik with an elbow. No question. But here’s the thing. Many people, including—I believe—Jack Lowe—say the mistake Pavlik made was sticking his chin out as if to say “is that all you got?” while what others saw was he got clocked with an elbow and glanced at the ref (or maybe Taylor) to complain. Split second. Which is all it took. The sequence of punches/elbow speaks to Pavlik’s mental coolness under pressure. First, he’s able to recognize he got elbowed. Second, he has no problem calling attention to this—in the midst, mind you, of an all out assault by the then middle-weight champion of the world—and last , when he does finally catch that equilibrium shot and goes down he bounces right—and watch it: right back up . Granted: without legs. But mentally 100%. Nevertheless, I stick with my long shot: Taylor by UD. And no controversy. Happy to be proved wrong in any scenario. Looking forward to what should be a damn good fight.
Yes, good observations. That is exactly how I saw it really. Though I thought he stuck his chin out to say "WTF?".
Who's the old hipster in your avatar? He looks very familiar.

Are you serious? You can't see it? Watch again real close just before Taylor throws the two punches that actually put Pavlik down, you can see him throw a massive purposeful left elbow that Pavlik blocks. After that Pavlik drops his hands and goes to say something, which I imagine would be along the lines of "What the fuck was that?" but instead gets caught with those shots that put him down. It's very, very, very, very obvious. I don't know how you could miss it. They showed it about ten times on the replay of the KD.
Taylor did throw an elbow.
Big deal.
You watch enough boxing you get used to illegal tactics.
I don't think much of it unless it's extreme (Pedroza-Laporte, Gainer-Norwood, Golota-Bowe, etc..)
I want ma I told ya cookie
There's a video out there with Taylor throwing an ellbow when pavlik was hurt, but it didn't land, has someone a video where he lands one?
YEAH FOR JERMAIN TAYLOR. HE HAS THAT FIRE BACK. REMEMBER ROY JONES AND MONTELL GRIFFEN. MONTELL HUNG WITH ROY THE FIRST FIGHT AND WAS ACTUALLY WINNING OR A HAD A DRAW AT THE TIME WHEN THE FIGHT WAS STOPPED. WHAT HAPPENED WHEN ROY CAM BACK FULLY MOTIVATED AT THE TOP OF HIS GAME HE WON EASILY. I THINK THE SAME WILL BE FOR JERMAIN. JERMAIN WILL OUTBOX HIM EARLY, BANG WITH HIM LATE, DROP HIM ONCE OR TWICE AND WIN AN EASY DECISION 116-110 WITH THE 2 KNOCKDOWNS.
The difference is that Jones was on his way to stopping Montel while Jermain was ktfo.

Same here, watched it in HD didnt see any elbows. Taylor throws his punches wildly though so it is hard to tell.

how do you know he didn't have that fire in the first fight?i thought he was more focused didn't he also say he was happy to finally fight an orthadox boxer yet he gets knocked out bad a people still wanna make excusses
Those don't seem like deliberate shots, Taylor was very wide with his punches in the early rounds. I like both guys but Pavlik should talk, he was constantly hitting Taylor behind the head in clinches and when the oppertunity arose

Taylor has been using those elbows very successfully for a while now, he is as good as Rocky Marciano at using his forearms.
Taylor has learned from the best, Bernard Hopkins.
Here is a good look at it. Elbows 01:12, forearm 01:28 pic of an elbow at 01:33, rabbit punch 01:27, low blow 02:03, hitting after the bell 02:24, headbutt 02:54. It's a fight though so anything goes.
I don't think they were intentional, they may have been but who cares?
