Floyd vs Cotto would be BIGGER next year!

you know, i've heard many people say cotto's chin is questionable, but i just don't see how. he's been down a few times and always gotten up to ko the other fighter, (alla pavlik/taylor) maybe it tends to suggest more that he can take a HELL of a punch? but the bigger issue is, other than hatton and gatti both jr welters and a small variety of "B" fighters, who has mayweather been able to ko or muchless hurt? the only two "elite" fighters he has ever stopped were chavez (past his prime) and corrales (many personal issues outside the ring) imo, he has no power above 140 and he's too small for an "elite" ww. floyd huggers should get ready for the same thing to happen to floyd as it did to PW, only Cotto hits much harder.... No it just means his opponents couldn't finish the job, thats why I said if may does rock cotto he might actually be the one to finish him this time. Now I'm not saying may is gonna knock him out but if it gets to the point where cotto's is rocked then floyd will finish him. if shane couldn't do it at ww, there is no way floyd can do it. shane is a better fighter, not boxer, than fm, he's bigger and stronger and just about as fast. i just don't see anyway fm wins this fight. he can run and pot shot but he won't be able to keep cotto off, IMO... Shane is kinda past it already and his mistake was to fight Cotto's fight he would have won if he sticked to just boxing but he wanted to square up with cotto and thats what cost him the fight. Don't expect for floyd to make that mistake. Thats what people said about hatton that floyd wasn't gonna be able to keep him off and look what happened.

Don't forget Cotto's questionable chin though, with floyds accuracy and speed he might rock Cotto and actually finish him. I think Mayweather has a better chance of winning if he fights Cotto now. By this time next year Cotto will be a very experienced, comforatble WW and IMO too big , too strong and hitting too hard for Maywether to be effective against. Most people don't realize that Maywether has NO punching power at 147 or higher. His light punches won't be enough to keep a head hunter like Cotto off him. And Cotto won't be jumping in with his head down alla Hatton. I just don't see Floyd winning this fight even with his superior speed, movement and defense.... Floyd wins this and makes it a snoozer anytime they fight. Only grossly inferior opponents bring out the beast in Floyd (Gatti anyone?). Skilled fighters (Oscar) tend to bring out the smarter, more cautious, boring Mayweather...and that cautious version is probably not beatable by anyone active. Very accurate and good post.

I hope it's sooner rather than later because I want both men to go into the fight with thier 100% records and with Cotto fighting Margarito theres a good chance for an upset.

Paul Williams is no longer seen as threat to either Cotto or Mayweather now that he's been exposed! Cintron-Margarito 2 will produce the same result as the first one! Cintron will be erased after being knocked out twice by the same guy! Then Cotto-Margarito will finally go at it with Margarito bringing the IBF version of the 147 lb crown to the plate. Cotto should win but lose alot doing it! While Floyd will get 20 million for sparring with DLH again! Now by the end of this year! Cotto should be the WBA and IBF 147lb champ! While Floyd will be the WBC 147lb champ and still P4P the best! Now the stage is set! Not only is the fight BIGGER than now, more is at stake! A welterweight unification fight with every major belt on the line at the worlds most famous arena, Madison Square Garden on the eve of the 2009 Puerto Rican Day Parade! Can you see it? If Margarito can soften up Cotto enough the fight might happen before then! I just feel like its a BIGGER fight next year! Let it build itself up to be the great historic event it deserves to be! If Mayweather and Cotto fight they will fight in Las Vegas. Thats where all of the money is. They are not just going to fight to fight each other, they want to make as much PROFIT as possible. And the place to do that is LV. With all of the tickets being sold and all of the closed circuit tickets that will be sold at 50 a piece, there will be mad money being made. yup it wont be at MSG MSG doesnt generate the money vegas does

I agree. Boxing, as much as you don't wanna believe it, is about money. They'll fight an armless gorilla if it means a bigger purse...
