I found this on youtube its suppose to be advance defense techiques for boxing rofl listen how punch drunk iran sounds and hes trying to teach defense rofl.
Sterling this thread is sick. Do you realize that Iran Barkley faced perhaps the toughest competition of any boxer in the past thirty years?
James Toney
Roberto Duran
Tommy Hearns (X 2)
Michael Nunn
Nigel Benn
'Henry Maske
Then add big HWs like Coetzee and Berbick.
To live through that means he has better defense than you seem to think.
hey this thread isnt suppose to discredit barkley at all he was a great fighter but he didnt have defence so in my opinion he shouldnet even try teaching so called ADVANCE defense techiques.
At the most i would say he had a great chin like gatti who took alot then gave alot but now look at barkley his defensive skills have ruined him.
Iran Barkley's best fights:
Barkley KO's Hearns in the third round. Upset of the year 1988.
I would like all of the people that claim that Richard Steal was doing the right thing stopping the JCC-Taylor fight with two seconds left because "Taylor wasn't responding" to check this out. Look at the 7:00 mark of this clip and try to tell me that Tommy Hearns was in any shape to continue or that Steal insisted that he respond adequately like he did to Meldrick Taylor. This just goes to show that Steal was always a ref to protect the house fighter, not the concerned referee he pretended to be.
Iran Barkley's best fights:
Barkley KO's Hearns in the third round. Upset of the year 1988.
Barkley vs Duran. Fight of the year 1989. The left hook at 5:20 would've killed a lesser man.
Barkley vs Olajide. A war.
Barkley wins the IBF SMW title. Brutal left hook.

Bob Arum, after his fighter, Iran Barkley, beat Darrian Van Horn: "If you think Barkley was mad before the fight, wait until he sees how many people are taking part of his purse."
I aggree that he know more about boxing them most all of us.
That's true that he knows more about boxing than any of us, but at his current state, is he even capable of training boxers? I mean it's sad when you have a caretaker watching over you.
I met Iran Barkley about 5 years ago and he was a nice guy. He was overweight when I saw him which was noticeable mainly because he fought as a middleweight and supermiddleweight during his career. Are you sure about Barkley having a caretaker? The guy is only 47 which means he is still fairly young.
I'm very positive because when I was part of helping to organize an event for Inwood Boxing Academy, we went through his caretaker to make arrangements for his appearance.
I don't know about Iran being robbed by promotors because he has always admitted to squandering the money he made over the years. I was sad to hear that he had to return back to the projects to live in because he ran out of money.
Barkley was an amateur bronze medalist and a 3-division world champion but I wouldn't take any defense lessons from a boxer who sounds like that.
It's sad that he had to fight even though he was completely shot and punch drunk because he was screwed by the promoters who robbed most of his money.
His face was full of blood and he was taking some of the most wicked body shots I ever saw. It looked like the fight was about to be stopped and then came that big right from nowhere.
Yeah, the look on Hearns' face told the whole story.
Yeah, that KO of Hearns was his best moment as a pro. He was indeed a warrior that should be recognized.

Barkley has always been a nice guy to me, and I have always returned the sentiments. But he doesn't need to be boxing, his speech isn't always coherent and his physical condition is bordering on obese. Barkley has a caretaker watching after him, the same guy who watches over Emmile Griffith. A man that needs a caretaker doesn't need to be in a professional prize ring.
I remember about six years ago being in Las Vegas for an HBO card. Before the TV time came on the ring announcer was introducing celebrities at ringside. Iran Barkley was introduced and there barely was any applause. This made me kind of sad because he was a warrior that had been in some great fights and spilled a lot of blood in the ring. His KO over Tommy Hearns was one of the most incredible I'd ever seen (watch it sometime, the 3rd round was off the charts). Then a couple of minutes later they introduced 2nd rate rock singer Sammy Hagar. He got a loud ovation. That didn't give me a very high opinion of Las Vegas fight crowds.

I agree 100%. It's really a shame he has so little money after so many years in the sport.
