See thats the thing though... For Cotto to win he cant simply rely on his body work because i have never truly seen floyd get hit with any good body shots. The way he stands he is really only open to right handed body shots and cotto is a natural lefty. I dont see cotto taking this truly unless floyd brawls. If this is a boxing match then Cotto is in the extreme disadvantage. If it is a brawl then i see it closer to being even. I would still give floyd the edge since he is also a great in fighter and has the fast hands. WHO KNOWS??
Exactly but you know Castillo did get to Floyds body but that was years ago he has adjusted his game since, but the reason I say the body is simply to take the legs away from Floyd so he doenst move as much.
if Cotto gets in good body work early and gets Floyd in the 7th and 8th rounds I am sure you will see Floyd forced into a brawel.

one thing is certain. cotto would definitely have to low blow mayweather to keep him in place. i have never seen cotto frustrated as he usually is able to adapt to whatever isn't going in his favor in the ring. but mayweather with his defense and ability to beat cotto to the punch over and over will either bring a completely new animal out of miguel cotto or expose him as another fighter that just wasn't good enough.
Cotto would fight him like he fought Quintana. He'd gradually put more and more pressure on him once he established any amount of comfort in the fight. Although that's difficult to do with a disruptive fighter like Floyd, I think Cotto is smart enough to understand he can get away with certain things. That would help his rhythm.
That's when we'd see the great chase.
i don't think so.....cotto would want to box too,
but i don't think he will be successful,
I agee. I think Cotto will try to box Mayweather. Cotto's jab could be his biggest weapon. :boxing:
Cotto is as equipped for a brawl as Mayweather. Astonishingly enough, we know very little about Mayweather's chin. Tat's a credit to Mayweather.
Look. We don't know who would win this. That's what makes it the intriguing matchup that it is. Mayweather would be the favorite... but Cotto would certainly have something more than a puncher's chance.
The thing is PBF doesn't brawl and doesn't need to with the skills that he has. PBF's chin seems fine to me he has taken some very solid shots on the chin so I don't know where you got that from. It is to PBF's credit that he doesn't take a lot of shots on the chin. Its not like Cotto is this big one punch KO artist. Cotto wears people down just like PBF does. Only difference is they wear people down using different methods. You may not know who will win but I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that PBF can and will beat Cotto. I see nothing that Cotto brings to the table that leads me to believe he is the one to beat PBF. Its the same way I felt about the Hatton fight. That is not a comparison of Hatton to Cotto just how I feel about either of those fighters beating PBF.
The word "BRAWL" and Mayweather should never be used in the same sentence LoL.
What about in the truthful sentence of
"Mayweather will not brawl with cotto" lol just jokin
You know what's so funny about this post is I specifically asked you about Cotto and you spoke more about PBF. Cotto brings nothing special to the table just like I said. Cotto is not faster than Hatton. Why would I compare anything Cotto did against Judah and Mosley to how successful he would be against PBF when neither of those fighters are as polished or smart in the ring as PBF? Everybody always brings up PBF's power yet his feet weren't squarely planted when he knocked Hatton down with that check hook. Power is not the name of the game in boxing because you don't have to win by KO. By constantly hitting Cotto or any fighter it takes a toll but more than that it keeps them off balance and that is all a fighter the caliber PBF needs. Cotto can't beat PBF and it will be an embrassing lose for Cotto.
When this fight is signed I am willing to bet you all of my points that PBF beats Cotto.

I've probably dove into this discussion more then I should have, but if you want specifics, just do a post seach under my name.
But a brief example, Cotto's faster, stronger, and more accurate then any half ass pressure fighter Mayweather has faced. Not only that, but do yourself a favor and watch some Cotto fights. Take note to his quickness, and his defense. Specifically in the Judah and Mosley fight. Then take note to the fact Mayweather can't punch going backwards with any power, and that Mayweather has to have his feet planted to land anything hard and stiff enough to sting Cotto. Mosley banged for dear life to break Cotto, and Mosley can sure as hell generate more strength then Mayweather. Mayweathers strongest punches are his stiff one two when his feet are set. Everything else is a love tap.
Well I hope that was worth the wait..

if you go back to the interviews, Zab and mosely both didnt want a boxing match vs cotto. Stupid gameplans.
Judah came off a layoff and a divorce, Mosely wanted to outpower the young cotto when he is 36.
Also mayweather has faced enough pressure fighters, every fighter since the beginning of his career tried pressure.
Cotto is a bit different, but essentialy the same. cotto hasnt faced someone with mayweathers smarts, not even close. Cotto has been in trouble in his last 2 fights, he will be in big trouble vs mayweather.
I don't think Cotto will lead him into brawling. But Cotto has "Patient Aggression".
Everyone who had a game plan for Cotto flopped because they all thought he was a one-dimensional fighter. He picks you apart round by round. Even in the fight with Mosley the general public thought Mosley would out punch Cotto on speed, but on the contrary it was Cotto beating Mosley to the punch and landing the more visible & harder shots (look at Mosley head snap back with Cotto's jabs).
Cotto's defense since being in Welterweight has increased heavily. So people bringing up his knockdowns in Light Welterweight are not even watching this dude really fight.
The fight will go the distance and if Cotto can use his jab all night backing off Mayweather's combos and throws body shots (and even the arms), Mayweather can be in a lot of trouble.
So all the accolades Floyd has gotten for beating Bum Hatton, Grandpa Oscar, Baldomir, & Brooklyn Sissy Zab...the fight with Cotto to me will cement Floyd's career if he beats him and I'll give him his respect as a fighter.
But I still think if Cotto fights his fight, he will beat Mayweather in 12 rds
