I'm presuming the last enzo 'fight' may have been shown on the calzaghe/kessler undercard, I'm also presuming haye has had next to no coverage stateside, so is it mainly the brits bothered about this?
yeah haye is really good. infact he is the only really great active boxer from england.
not true in the slightest.
its weird that warren is 'allowing' this fight, seeing as he's usually very very careful with his fighters and this fight could lead enzo in bad position career-wise. I really dont give him much hope of getting by haye the more i think about it.
thats how bothered america is. i havent seen much regarding Haye but i keep hearing he is a pretty good cruiserweight. is that so?
yeah haye is really good. infact he is the only really great active boxer from england.
USS Cunningham will beat both of them. How? He could beat maccarenelli but not Haye. Hell his own promoter didn;t even think he would get past Huck. I am surprised myself that Cunningham is doing as good as he is and hope he continues to improve, but I don't think he will ever be good enough to beat Haye
Not much love for Macca in this thread. Look, the guy might not have the most ability and a bit of a dodgy chin but he still hits like a mule and is improving every fight. His fight against Braithwaite wasn't really laboured, he completly outboxed him and dropped him along the way. I still think the Hayemaker is too good for him but I think Macca will put in a good show, and don't be suprised if Haye tastes the canvas. I would recommend if it aint on TV in the states to try and catch it on sopcast, it will be a good fight.
Unfortunately this fight isn't gonna be able to reignite the division cos if Haye wins he'll simply move up and we'll have the usual scramble for vacant belts, and if Macca wins somehow i don't see him taking on allcomers so he'll never be able to hang onto all 3.
on what groulds does wilson deserve a shot? the fact he is american? the best 2 cruiserweights in the world are british and this is a fight to see who is the best out the two, its not a breat division but it should still provide a good fight.
Kelvin Davis, Dale Brown, Daniel Judah, and Emmanuel Nwodo. One Nigerian, Two thugs, and a Canadian who beat O'Neill Bell (the judges beat Dale Brown on the scorecards but Brown beat Bell in the ring). No rednecks, all rated higher than Enzo's victories and thus a much better run than Enzo's. And please don't say champion when talking about a paper belt, Haye is the Champion and Enzo a titlist. I LOVE this fight between Haye and Maccarenelli for the division, but Enzo has trully no credentials, but he is a big name fighting for a big promoter who doesn't snort all of the money he makes off of fights. And Enzo has a big name trainer, and while Wilson isn't the most skilled or anywhere near the best of the division, when it comes to "deserving" a title shot, he is higher than Maccarenelli in regards of credible opponents and exciting highlight reel victories. Haye will demolish both and a Enzo/Wilson fight would be a hell of a scrap.
Yeah I agree with you. Whilst the WBO can mean something depending on the holder, in Macca's case it is purely a paper title. In fact I fear for career ambitions if he loses cos he doesn't have the resume to ensure quick title fight. Although I guess with Haye vacting his belts no-ones gonna be surprised when Macca gets another shot at the.........oh dear, i feel i've been down this route of discussion already.
Yes, but your lil sister is one tough old bird.
Enzo's resume isn't stellar (neither is Haye's for that matter) but frankly this Wilson chap has recently lost 4 consecutive fights and no-one in Europe (i.e. where the belts and money in this division are) has heard of him. He needs to get his arse over here or he can stay in his own country and continue to fight some more random rednecks.
Haye-Maccarinelli is a massive massive fight in the UK. Each fighter is probably earning a higher purse than anyone else in the division has ever earned. Wilson means shit so I can't see how you can say he's a more "viable candidate" to take on Haye than the WBO champion who is undefeated in several years and is a pretty big name over here.Kelvin Davis, Dale Brown, Daniel Judah, and Emmanuel Nwodo. Yeah I get what you're saying. It's just that at times it seems too many warren fighters go down the same predictable route.
What are the chances Amir Khan will one day end up with the WBO belt, remain undefeated for 5+ years fighting 95% in England, then all of a sudden start calling out big names accross the Atlantic for a Vegas superfight.
But hey, I guess we all know boxing's a business and when it comes to maximising career earnings Warren's one of the best.
I think Khan is being lined up to take the WBA belt from Rees, if he gets through his mandatory. Will Khan fight in the US? More likely than Calzaghe going over there early in his career, but then the fights are all in the US for him and that wasn't the case for Calzaghe.
Yeah, the WBO is always Warren's first port of call and he is very good at getting titles for his fighters and then milking them for all their worth. He's not alone in that.
That'll be Frank Warren with 2 World Champions (well, 3 if you count Arthur, which I don't) with the WBO belt, 1 of whom is also unified champion and P4P top 3 (at least)? It's hardly the sort of cabal Don King had going with one or two of the sanctioning bodies .....
He does have some clout with the WBO though. Mind you, it was the Brits who first gave their belts some meaning so that could be why.

Macca is ONLY getting a shot BECAUSE OF THE BRIT FACTOR.
Macca has done fuck all to warrant a title tilt.
His biggest win was a laboured decision over an inactive past his sell by date Braithwaite.
FACT.
Haye's record pisses all over that of Macca.
Fragomeni & Mormeck are 2 names for starters.
Haye also fought for his Legitimate World titles.
Who did Macca beat?
I have nothing against Macca but he really hasn't done anything against anyone.
Laboured win over Braithwaite? Really?
You illustrate my point about Haye's record perfectly. Winning in France against Mormeck is not to be sniffed at, and major congratulations to Haye for doing that. He is undoubtedly the undisputed CW champion. But before Mormeck his resume is also pretty crap. Fragomeni might have been undefeated but had never fought outside Italy before that, and he wasn't up to much.
Maccarinelli is getting the title shot because it's the biggest money fight out there for Haye. Yes, its marketability is increased because its an all British fight but it's also a unification fight an I'm all for them. Well done Haye and Maccarinelli for putting your titles on the line and giving us the fight we want to see.

The same guy destroying competition lately.
C'mon Darnell had an exciting TV knockout in a fight he was badly losing. He's rugged but he's not quite championship level.
I do agree that the Enzo-WBO belt shenanigans are a bit silly. It really is as though the WBO was setup purely to give Warren's fighters easy access to world title they can defend for several years whilst remaining undefeated.
Then once they've milked it for all it's worth go to the US with the aim of getting a "superfight" off the back of their unbeaten record and "world title". I always try to stick up for the sport when my friends go on about how corrupt it is...but sometimes you have to wonder whats going one behind the scenes.
Seriously don't talk about eliminators and shots at the title when Wilson has fought 4 better fighters in his last four fights than Enzo has his entire career minus Braithwaite. haye is the best cruiserweight and Mormeck is still number two but is fading. Thanks to Duva giving Flores a shitty ass deal to fight Wilson and even a worse promotional contract offer, him and I talked tonight about signing with Don King. So now Wilson needs someone else for Feb 8th. DUva is dropping the ball for him here. But like I started to rant about earlier, Wilson isn't the best out there and sure he has some losses, he is though a more viable candidate for any title shot than Maccarenelli. I like Enzo but his accent to the top of the WBO was bullshit and he has fought my little sister, the neighbor's dog and Wayne Braithwaite in his last few fights.

Ah yes, he's won the last 4. After losing the previous 4.
I know it's a shitty division but really he needs to fight an eliminator or at least someone ranked in the top 100 before he gets a shot at any title.Seriously don't talk about eliminators and shots at the title when Wilson has fought 4 better fighters in his last four fights than Enzo has his entire career minus Braithwaite. haye is the best cruiserweight and Mormeck is still number two but is fading. Regardless of his weaknesses, Haye could be a star and I'm constantly surprised he has such a shite profile even in the UK. Mind you, taking this fight at CW is career suicide for him IMO.
i don't think his profile is that shite now compared to what it was, he's constantly popping up on sky, and random sports tv coverage.
this is going to be a great fight, and its a real shame it probably wont get US coverage.
