Just watched the replay. In previous posts, I've "manned up". Ok? Floyd fought a great fight, especially after round 7. But, after seeing that fight again, Joe Cortez deserves another round of condemnation. I'm sorry...CORTEZ SUCKS. He embarrassed the sport with that incredibly biased performance. A true Richard Steele moment.
2:27 into Round 2: Floyd bends down, sticking his head underneath Hatton's arms. Cortez breaks them up yet again and yells at Hatton:
"When he goes down, move out!"
What the hell? Since when is it mandatory in boxing that everytime your opponent bends over into your stomach, you have to back up??
---------
Lampley Round 2: "One wonders if Cortez is going to let Hatton fight his kind of fight. Cortez seems to be breaking them up everytime they get into close quarters."
Lampley Round 3: "Again, one wonders if Cortez is going to let them fight where Hatton likes to fight. "I've never seen Joe Cortez work this hard."
---------
Thank you Lampley. You finally got something right.
The lasting impression of that fight will forever be after the fight when Mayweather has his arm around Cortez' neck, like best friends. After a moment, Cortez blushingly steps away. LOL
Oh, well...........bring on Cotto. Floyd showed us he will stand in and trade...he did show grit. Now, it's time for Floyd to fight a real top flight welterweight for once. It's time to prove up the resume.
Look who are the four main posters who are complaining
Wiley= noted for believing Hatton would beat Floyd
Gavins= Believed Floyd would win but hates on Floyd nonetheless
BmoreBrawler=Resents Floyd for not going for the KO against Oscar and hates on Floyd
Mozza=Good guy but in his heart wanted Ricky to win
Why am I not suprised?
So true Skills. These posters are known not to like Mayweather at all.
I don't know if the actual outcome would have been different I just wished the ref wouldn't have jumped in after Hatton landed a really good shot, just didn't make any sense? Could someone put that shot and the ref jumping in between them in there sig so everyone can see this. Like I said it prolly wouldn't have changed the outcome but it could have, what if Hatton lands to or three more bombs before Cortez jumped in and really hurt Flyod and took something outta him or knocked him down or out. Flyod clearly was winning the fight but that second round was real fishy!!!!
First time posting Be easy lol. How come Cortez let hatton fight the way he wanted against castillo but became a dick-head when Hatton fought mayweather?
Don't worry about it. Your going to be all right.
Don't try to bring any rational arguements in here.
Mayweather sucks..
The Pinoys and Mexicans will be funking until Jesus comes...
Mayweather still sucks...
Margarito is the most feared man in boxing...
Joe Cortez is a asshole...
Mayweather sucks...
Oh and, fuck Mayweather. Welcome.:boxing:

Let it go, man. It's over. Ricky Hatton was knocked out by Floyd Mayweather. I could see some justification for bitterness if the fight went the distance and people disapproved of scoring.
Yeah forreal. They need to stop the damn whining already. As if they're Ricky Hatton themselves.
Cortez was on the Mayweather pay roll, not once do i recall Cortez warn Mayweather of repeated elbows.
LOOOOOOOL
He even came over to Floyd's corner as he was on the stool to warn him about it. TWICE. WtF are you talking about?
I would like them to respnd to mine too, GS. They handpick their arguments! Stop ducking me, Hatton fans! Lol...
So you are saying that if Hatton would have ducked as much as his fans do with replies, he may have stood a chance...well, at least not to get KTFO.
There's a reason why no Hatton munchers replied to this post.

Cortez does this all the time though. He refs VERY strict in the early rounds to get the message across that he's not taking any shit from the fighters, and he often deducts points in the early rounds as well.
With minimal warnings which can sometimes be very frustrating.
But there is a reason you dont get dirty fights with Cortez.
THANK YOU.
Were you guys complaining during the Castillo fight? 1st round of that fight had SEVERAL breaks in the action due to Cortez. You guys seriously need to calm down with the xcuses. If you're so damn smart, why didn't you comprehend the fact that it would be a strictly reffed fight when you INITIALLY found out that Cortez was reffing it? No.. instead you hear 'Oh, this is a plus for Ricky..' LOL.. You dummies must have assumed that it was a ref who lets roughousing go on because he beat Castillo. But here's some rudimentary advice: Watch that fight.
I'm for smaller gloves, 6-8 ounce for the lighter weight fighters.
But let us be real, if there is no holding and hitting, Floyd would have given a beating the same, if not worse since there would have been room for Floyd to take Ricky to town.
And I like Smoger as ref.
8oz for light-welter and under, 10oz above. 6oz to small bruv
so with 8oz gloves, a smaller ring and different ref the outcome would have been different? please be sensible, the fight MAY have played out slightly different but we would of seen the same result, it was floyds best performance in years and he completely dominated on the inside and out, hatton was so predictable and basic and was never in the fight, it wasnt even really competitive. as for the gloves, whos to say that floyd wouldnt of opened up both hattons eyes with 8oz?
And their you go, big paulie. Mayweather had all the "advantages". Feather fisted Mayweather somehow managed to drop Hatton with 10oz. gloves. But nope, it was Cortezs fault, the size of the ring, etc...
Muthaphuckas sound like some bleeding manginas. What, they wanted the fight in a fucking phone booth with MMA style gloves and Hattons trainer as the ref?
Have a fucking :bottle: you whining broads. Hatton went in, fought his best, and LOST. It gets no simpler then that. Hatton is all good in my book. Some of his fans though can still be seen crying in Las Vegas with a pint of hot beer singing Blue Moon.

even if cortez doesn't ref maybe it doesn't get stopped early, but wouldn't you rather see a real good KO instead having it go to the cards seeing as how floyd was winning either way?
In a huge ring, with heavyweight gloves, a biased ref was the proverbial "straw that broke the camel's back" so to speak as far as giving Ricky any chance whatsoever in a fight against the recognized world's #1 boxer.

Just Let This Die Already Damn! All This Bitching And Complaining Wont Change The Outcome. Your Bitching Cant Go Back And Time And Change Cortez. Let It Go!
Cortez was awful - very biased.
Hatton still would have lost with unbiased Cortez however.
Although the real question - if it was a differnt ref - would Hatton have got frustrated, sloppy and then knocked out?
Different ref = UD Mayweather.
End of convo.
look at the top gif in ur avy. nuff said, 2 blatant elbows thrown, blatant holding and hitting, blatant turning your back, hatton hits a rope and he loses a point LOL.
FMJ Elbows & Forearms: with hatton constantly using himself to press up on FMJ and constantly pushing his head onto FMJ and Holding him which many Hatton fans call "pressure", it is only natural for the fighter to use his forearms to make room for his shots, Hatton smoothered his own shots at the best of times and many of FMJ's opportunities but FMJ used the forearm to make room for his inside work and to also get the leverage to come out of the clinch and be able to counter, Remember the elbow is at the end of your forearm so at times this will come into the play... Mayweather seemed to get away with this and it worked, Cortez did warn him about it during the fight but you need to understand this is a foul but it isn't intentional fouling like a hit to the back of the head therefore this type of stuff gets more leeway. There was also times when the elbow came up intentionally before the clinch, but mayweather uses the forearm a hell of a lot with his defense so the elbow will come into play but he was warned for this, and some will argue he too should of been punished...
.
this paragraph right here sums up my feelings on this entire situation.

get over it wiley, while i agree mayweather needed to be warned for use of the elbow there will only ever be one winner out of these two. wiley, even during the spells of infighting (supposedly hatton territory) floyd still dominated. elbow or no elbow, cortez or no cortez, 24 foot ring or 4 foot ring, 147 or 140, ricky hatton never beats floyd mayweather
