If avoiding punishment were the stuff of "track stars"
why do you find equipment in every boxing gym that improves head
movement?
Why do fighters wear ankle weights?
jump rope?
And simulate ducking punches when doing pad workouts?
If I threw something at your head, hopefully you would have the wherewithal to move out of the way. ...
Or
Would you Stand there get hit, and then throw something Back....?
Generally Speaking....
I think fighters only resort to fighting flat-footed because they have no choice. and boxers like Mayweather has plenty of options, so he doesnt stand flat footed...., instead he boxes on his toes, just like SRL, SRR, or ali..
So the question really is....?
Should he take punishment to give punishment...?
(Like fighters such Margarito)
Are Should he give Punishment and avoid Punishment..?
(as he is doing now....)

I totally agree. It's called being elusive and evasive. Those who think otherwise don't know boxing all that well, and have never been in the ring before.

Maybe because he circles the ring 3 times before throwing a punch. I owuldnt call him a runner more like a marathon man
This is incredibly wrong. A typical Mexican does not pride himself for taking punishment, to give it. Their pride over their “Will” to continue. The “Heart”, to carry on match.
If this is the case where did the i will take 4 of your punches to land 1 mines saying come from?

End of thread! Good post.
My question would be if you like boxers who stand there and get hit without moving do you care about your fighter ?
typical Mexican Warriors: Make name for thereselves by taking Punishment to give Punishment.... and they Feel Honor in that way of boxing...
So when they fight a fighter who dont take Punishment to give Punishment...
Instead Avoid Punishment to give Punishment
This explains the reason why they tend to called them runners....
and I think it coralates down to their fans, because than their fans called them runners...
So the question is in other not to be a runner do you have to take Punishment to give Punishment....?
But is that smart...?
Looking at the history of past fighters...., such as Ali, and Hearns, and thousands of other fighters....
taking Punishment to give Punishment is probably the dumbist thing you could do as a fighter..
Am i wrong to have that belief..?

Hmm. Horus and Flawless bumpin a bunch of old pro Mr boat buyer-anti Mexican threads tonite huh? Bizarre. Wow, just wow.:rofl::rofl:
Who the hell is flawless? What is his alt?
Mayweather/Mosley/Bradley/Williams/Berto/Campbell
I know deep down inside Pacman is scared of these guys
Mayweather was retired and came out to announce that he is going to fight JMM so shut up with that one. Williams is not fighting at 147 and you know it, when he comes back down, let me know. Berto will get mopped with his hug and hit technique, see Hatton. Bradley is already going up agaisnt Campbell.
That leaves Cotto and Mosley. Manny can not face everyone and they will have to wait. What is wrong with Cotto? Floyd was afraid of him. Cotto faced Mosley and Margarito, two fighters Floyd is also afraid of. So stop with this nonsense.
He's a runner. Watch his fights. SRR and SRL fought. Floyd is a bitch and potshots and avoids confrontation.
He's a pussy. Just like most of his fans that enjoy watching other pussies try to fool the rest of the world into thinking they're tough.
lol..right
:loser:
If all floyd does is potshot..who fault is that for letting him potshot you for 12 rounds?
how can you avoid confrontation with 24+ Ko's on your record?
You can make an argument that Paulie Magg.... Avoids confrontation because he only has what 5 ko's on his record...
But Floyd on the on the other hand has more than half of his fights ending in Knockout...explain how can that be possible if he avoids confrontation...
LOL....you make no logical sense
Foreman destroyed Frazier TWICE, yet got KO'd by Ali. :lol1:
Please, when will Pacman fight a top American fighter
What top American fighter do you wish Manny to fight?
And we all know that Foreman was poisoned against Ali.
:blackeye:
Ya know, i never got why people rip on the guy for the way he fights. He's a smart fighter, and there's more than one way to fight so who cares. I thought people loved the sport, so why is it wrong for a fighter to be extremely defenssive and elussive?

Floyd did nothing to an OLD ODLH. I saw him running.
Got one lucky punch against Hatton, again, I saw nothing but running, hugging and elbows galore from Floyd.
Now, let's talk about the DESTROYER Manny Pacquiao against these same fighters. Manny got hit less by both fighters. Floyd after his bout with an OLD ODLH, had a big mouse under his eye. Hatton was hitting Floyd the first 4 rounds.
Did Manny suffer this kind of punishment?
Manny was barely touched by either. So Floyd is the runner and the lesser of a fighter.
Are you that blind Horus? So how does the fact that Floyd got hit more against ODLH and Hatton make Floyd the so called overall better fighter?
Do the math.
Manny to Hatton 1 round and a half. BOOM! Destroyed.
ODLH. 6 rounds of PACMANIA flew wild and ODLH said NO MAS.
Floyd got hit by Hatton, Floyd struggled and was only lucky with a punch he should have landed ages ago. Manny More ACCURATE because Manny did it in less than TWO.
Should I keep going? Should I try to explain it another way?

there is a big difference between fighting defensively and running. Floyd is a good defensive fighter, he boxes on the defense very well it's just at times he doesn't throw with conviction, it's only pitter patter shots that land Only to control the tide.. what people were complaining about isn't the fact that HE moves I think they just want the Floyd who showed up against Gatti more often, a more aggressive Floyd who can still be smart but bang a little more often..
Hatton literally forced the fight, he basically made it into whatever fight came out of that bout. against Judah, Baldomir and De La Hoya he had lackluster performances, they were technical masterpieces but a bore to most, not me for the record, but for most common fans they want to see the champion bang and not slide off them ropes all the time..
it's known fact that Floyd just corners up and outsmarts n1ggaz with his speed, he's fast not only with his hands but on his feet so for those who corner him looking to land that big shot they getting jabbed and crossed all day looking for him even when standing right in front of him, it's a smart and effective way to win fights but hardly entertaining to watch for your average Boxing fan..
that being said.. I have been very disappointed with him due to what I feel is a lame finish for such a great fighter. fighting the lesser champions then leaving the division, 1 fight for 1 title against someone who is clearly not on your level and then before you can be truly tested against the best there you move up to fight even more guys who can't compete with you, straight up milking his time on top for as long as he could before people started demanding real fights after which he goes and retires, that just doesn't sit right with me when guys like Cotto and Mosley whom are Boxers too are willing to put it all on the line, for respect for themselves and the people who pay to see them fight while this guy takes the easy ride. to me it's like **** man YOU may not love Boxing but I DO and I just can't appreciate a n1gga like that coming in and pulling that shitty ass move which ends up robbing the people who made him, the fans, of the fights they want to see.. if he is TRULY retired then for the rest of history in the eyes of most he will have MANY ???'s surrounding his name.. 1
Thats news! You sure about all those allegations? Or are you just another bitter margie fan? Either way your prerogative but wanted to hope you had facts to back up ALL those allegations. If not STFU!
He pleaded Guilty to domestic violence charges in 2002 plus he had another warrent issued for his arrest later.

Hey look he has the same outfit that his Uncle roger used to put on when he fought Mexican fighters. Also add his famous Quote"Mexicans fighter all look the same to me".

As for his Homophobic statements and his pro greed stance all you have to do is listen to his music or watch his apperences on HBO 24/7
DLH and Hatton were the overwhelming fan favorites and they were the ones who drew those PPV numbers not Floyd.
The only credit I will give floyd is that he was such a giant Douche Bag that i think that even more DLH/Hatton fans bought the PPV just to see their fighter win.
Thats what i'm trying to say, He puts on an act which in turn makes people hate him therefore drawing people in, Love Him or Hate Him he draws people in and the fact that more threads on Boxingscene are about him than any other fighter ( while he's retired ) and the fact that his name seems to creep its way into every thread is a testament to this.
People will relate to what they find familiar/similar to themselves.
Most people would have to overcome the odds because of a lack of athletic talent, which is why most people will root for the brawler/underdog against the "superior" athlete.
People will critisize the things that doesn't support their view, in other words, bash the opponent of their favorite fighter.
Most athletic boxers will most likely favour a SRL/PBF/RJJ over smashers like Margarito/Tua etc. Why? Because of the same thing; they will relate to people like themselves, athletic individuals.

Another anti-pbf poster contradicting himself just to discredit pbf! You sound like a dumbass! Thought I should be the first to tell you! Happy New Year!
You can explain his style all you want that doesn't make his style very exciting. Plus add the fact that Floyd is a Homophobic, Racist, Womanbeating, pro gun, Pro greed, and you got a conservative Douche Bag fighter that nobody really wants to see succeed other than his couple thousand fans.
