Wouldn't you then have a reasonable case for saying he's the best boxer in the world right now. I think he's the best thing going right now regardless but compared to maybe Floyd? Yeah Floyd goes up and down weight classes and that makes some good matches but the thing is, is that I dont if he's ever beaten a real #1 fighter, De La Hoya is a #1 fighter but in terms of what he's done lately it's not that much and also Floyd isn't always that impressive in his wins. I mean I wouldn't have expected him to stop De La Hoya or back him up. I guess he did what he could in that fight but the descision was very close regardless. I dont know who Floyd could beat that would be similar to Pavlik beating Calzaghe, De La Hoya is alot better than Calzaghe but not in his last several fights and I really belive he could have done alot more against Mayweather.
I'm talking about P4P status here.
He will beat Taylor again, but he wouldnt beat Calzaghe. Kessler is bigger (again not height wise) then Pavlik and he did everything he could against Joe and lost clearly. Kelly would lose the same way.
Yeah Ferocity is done in boxing chat.....the thread I have posted him in..has offically eneded his "career"
Hey I missed that thread ??
Can you show me
That's what Kessler was doing the whole fight agaisnt Calzaghe. Trying to set him up for one perfect counter punch and end the fight that way. I dont think that's what his corner wanted him to do, but it seemed like that was his plan.
Kessler is MORE rangy and BETTER at range than Pavlik, though he does have a slightly slower workrate.
I agree with what Kayjay said, you can't come straight at Calzaghe because his fists will throw a party on your face.
I dont think he is more rangy, not at all. Even if Mikkel may have slightly longer arms he doesn't fight like it, he does't fight tall nearly as well as Pavlik. I dont think Calzaghe would be able to throw punches over the top at Pavlik and control the fight that way.
I love Sugar Shane, and if it were Mosley at Lightweight, I could maybe give him an edge, or call it too close, but right now... definitely Mayweather.
I agree with you.
That would be quite impressive if Pavlik pulled that off. I still don't know though. Maybe if he beat Calzaghe and then moved up to LHW and beat a top guy there. While that would be quite impressive I don't think it tops Floyd who has won titles at 5 different weight classes. Just my opinion.
What would be the point of that though? That's when I start to dislike guys moving around weight classes when they're doing it just for the sake of it, not because it makes good matches or they'd be better suited at a different weight class.

settle it in a skills competition. fasted fighter to land 200 punches on a heavybag.
Do you honestly think Pavlik's hand speed is even close to Mayweather's? That's a bad idea if you're a Pavlik fan.
That's even what Kessler's corner was saying throughout the whole fight. Mikkel Mikkel you have to go at him. But Mikkel is not as rangy and as powerfull at range as Pavlik, nor does he have the workrate.
