I think this is the end of the line for PBF. He's been complaining too much and, after watching the 24/7 I really get a feeling he's calling it quits (again). He has nothing left to fight for, in his mind, at least. He won't fight Cotto, DLH won't fight him again, and he isn't interested in Williams, Cintron, or Mosley. Who else is out there?
Nope, The Floyd Train has come to it's last stop. I still think he's going all at it with Hatton and isn't taking him lightly or training any less intensely, but I just don't think he really wants to continue in the game.
Thoughts?
Last time I checked Ricky is making 16 million for this fight and Floyd is making 20 million. He'll probably make close to that 20 in a unification fight with Cotto, and trust me he'll take it, he loves money too much.
If Floyd was going to retire after this fight, why not fight Ricky at 140? I mean, there would be more belts on the line.
Source?
Last time I checked, Ricky was guaranteed £5M, or roughly $10M, to fight Floyd. He might be making more off of advertising, but his guaranteed purse is $10:
From BBC
From Times Online
From The Sun
From the Guardian
BTW, it seems Mayweather is making $15M, according to the last article. I guess I was two million off of my guestimates.
Who can he fight and earn $20 Million? He was only guaranteed $10M against him the first time around. He's probably making about $12-13M against Hatton, seeing as Ricky is pulling in $10M.
BTW, don't underestimate Floyd's hatred of Arum. I do not see a Cotto fight, even for $15M.

if he doesn't fight cotto then i will be very disappointed.
he has to beat cotto. beat cotto and retire and he'll be a worthy legend to me.
floyd has to fight cotto, there is no reason to skip the cotto fight. assuming he beats hatton of course
How does Floyd still have a belt after over a year without defending it? How is Floyd the #1 ranked WW in the world after not fighting at WW for over a year?
Floyd will retire after fighting Hatton, AGAIN. And then he will come back and fight with the lure of another 20 million bucks to make.

For fuck sake. How many "dollars" does he need to make? At what point does pride step in? You can't secure a legacy by fighting the Arturo Gatti's of the boxing world. IMO, it has less to do with "dollars" and more to do with not wanting to lose that "0"
he don't want to lose ''0'' too and he knows that with paul he can lose the
"0" and make less money that with hatton or cotto,so there is no advantages here and so it won't happen
he will not fight with williams cause paul hasn't the big name like hatton and cotto this fight will not make dollars, and what don't make dollars don't make sense

Mayweather likes the money too much. He will not Retire...
His body will contiue to suffer...
AFTER/IF Cotto gets big enough and he beats cotto *(or Q-man--I smell upset with williams)... hen that will really be it..
Unless he moves up to fight edison miranda lol... and that will never happen hahaha 1.

if he pasts hatton then he will fight cotto and after then retire cause floyd understands that these fighters he must win this is for his legacy like SRL beated duran, hearns and hagler
I think you meant to say that Hatton retires Mayweather in this fight.
No, I didn't mean to say that. If you look for my posts, I think Mayweather will school Hatton and win at least 9 rounds doing so. That being said, he already retired once and came back. I don't think he did it for the money. He did it for the pride. However, his pride is what will keep him from fighting Cotto. He HATES Bob Arum and doesn't want him to make a dime off of his name. He will never fight Cotto while he's a Top Rank fighter, mark my words. Floyd's history with Bob is almost as bad as his history with his dad.
he'll continue fighting, hopefully he catches an L on his way out, however.
I believe Floyd is tired. I think he loves the sport, but is no longer 100% physsically, and it's tiring. I feel he is going to beat Hatton, and convincingly and retire. Maye 1 more fight, but that will be it. I believe he is going to continue with his promotion company. He'll always be connected to the sport. He can not fight forever and the longer he continues with his ailments, the sooner he will approach that dredded 0, which he vehemently resents the thought of.
That is the sport retire when you are at the top eventully you will lose someday.
I think the public will really push for a fight with Cotto and if he continues winning and eventually becomes the unified WBO WBA and IBF champ then it could actually tarnish PBF's legact if he didnt fight him. I think he will allow Cotto to clear out the division i.e. dispose of Margarito and Cintron/Williams winner and will fight him in his final bout next year for his 40th win.
If you look back in history many came back for that bout the public demanded for their legacy. And the few times they dont they have to go with a cloud over there shoulder ie. Lennox Lewis.
He won the IBF title against Judah but dropped it. Floyd Mayweather fight only for the WBC belt
if Floyd wants to retire then fuck it yo retire, what I don't want is a long ass deliberation about it, he has been talking about retirement for a long time, I think that with a win over Hatton he can bow out respectfully but if he chooses to do that then don't stall it, give up the belts and let the next breed fight for the titles..
I can't lie I would respect him more if he faced Cotto before he bounced because Cotto took out Mosley for him BUT as is I feel Cotto will win so being real about it that would be like asking Floyd to lose which is unfair, I been saying I would LOSE respect for him if he didn't face Miguel but that was ignorant of me, Floyd has done enough so that he will be great and he has a GOOD enough reason to walk away, he would leave no shame behind, of course he could better his legacy with a Cotto win but he wont beat Cotto so why fight him?
that will only chain him deeper into the game because then he will want a rematch and pride will take effect and next thing you know it's loss #2, he SHOULD walk away if he feels his shit is fucked up he has the right but I'm just saying if he does then he should give up the belts immediately and let them be fought for as soon as Febuary 2nd or Miguel Cotto's next fight.. 100
he will fight cotto if he wins saturday, you know why? if he doesnt, people will bitch at him to no end, and hell get sick of it, buckle down, and take the fight
