People like to claim that Mayweather ducked many fighters, but that is clearly not the case. Mayweather beat everyone worth beating at 130 and 135 and even gave a rematch to Castillo after a close fight. Some fighters wouldn't dare give an opponent a rematch after a tough, close fight (*ahem*Hatton*ahem).
At 140, a fight with Tsyzu could not be made because Mayweather was with HBO and Tszyu was with Showtime. Besides, Tsyzu was injured and had mandatories the entire time Mayweather was at 140 (Mitchell and then Hatton). When Hatton beat Tszyu, it was Hatton who was asking for more fights before he was ready for Mayweather and that is a well documented fact.
At 147, he had a tune up with Mitchell, then fought the former undisputed champion, and followed that by beating the current undisputed champ. And Mayweather is still at welterweight, so it's still possible he will fight other top contenders in the division but he can only fight one man at a time.
Of course we also can't forget that Mayweather went up to 154 and fought the most dangerous opponent of his career. Mayweather has never ducked any fighter...
At the time I considered Corrales a bigger threat against Floyd. Corrales was bigger and stronger and was undefeated. All the people who say Floyd ducked certain people like Morales, Barrera, etc. pull names out of a hat. Floyd wasn't in the same weightclass with these guys years back. Floyd wasn't a household name either. His first big PPV was in 05.
Most fighters sure, most top 10 fighters in either of those divisions, I don't think so.
Well yes he was good, but much too inactive and much slower than he was in his prime to be effective. Not to mention he lacked the stamina to be any good past the 6th round.
That's funny considering De La Hoya banked rounds 6,7, and 8.He faded after that, imo.
That and I think he could still beat most fighters at 154 except Spinks (he'd get to tired chasing him around) and possibly Forrest. Maybe even Karminazan could too, but I doubt it.
If a 34 year old loser of 2 of his last 4 fights, and with only one fight in almost 3 years is the most dangerous opponent of his career, then Mayweather's legacy is in serious trouble.
Losses to a much bigger Hopkins, and Shane Mosely in a fight where a lot of people felt Oscar deserved the victory. Two pretty good opponents if you ask me. Oscar was also coming off a sensational proformance against Ricardo Mayorga.
Floyd fought Oscar at 154, while weighing 148 on fight night compared to Oscar weighing 160+. It was also his first fight at 154, and his 5th weight class in 9 years. Not to mention giving up every single advantage possible, from ring size, to gloves, to location, etc. Sorry bud, that's impressive anyway you slice it.
That version of DLH would have beaten most fighters 147-154

Ignore Satori, he's an idiot.
Though, De La Hoya was still good. Out of his prime? Yes. Good? Yes.

Erick Morales, Marco Barrera, Manny P there are many he ducked @ 130 and 135. LOL @ thread starter.
This is why nobody can or should respect anything you say.

I will never take anything you post seriously, ever again.
Manny Pacquiao? Morales? Barrera?
HAHAHAHA what the fuck? Pacquiao was still at SUPER FLYWEIGHT in 2001. Barrera was at featherweight and Morales was at feather I think too. Floyd couldn't make the weight anymore so moved up to lightweight. I'm seriously doubting Barrera and Morales wanted to jump up 10 pounds to fight a fighter who wasn't known as a HUGE draw back then.
