Just read the thread going on about him losing all the big fights and i have always thought what has this fucker done..... he just has a good fan base and is someone "you can like" lol but in reality he did lose all his big fights, beat an onld chavez and camacho, got beat up by strum, and got two decisions handed and to him in a gift box with a bow on top againts quartey and pernell. Also beat a very weak no skill having mayorga, a smaller vargas. Delahoya in my opinion is the most overrated boxer in boxing history! His biggest success is bringing in money not being one of the best fighters of all time.

Look DLH is a great fighter but whenever it came to the big fights he always came up short. He was robbed against Mosley and against Trinidad. He had enough balls to get in the ring with Nard (who was much bigger and stronger) and he took a dive. And well against Floyd he was just beat by a better fighter. Now I think DLH is going to be an all time great because he never backed down from a fight and never hand picked his opponents unlike certain fighterss.. cough* Floyd... When DLH goes down to 147 i could see him beating everyone and cleaning out the division.
Come on come on come on...
You know nobody considers him a great heavyweight.
Run you can't disagree that Ibeabuchi looked fucking spectacular against Byrd and Tua. He gets so much credit for those fights because of the method he used to win both fights. Ike stood man up with Tua, when he could have taken a bit of a safer route, and slugged with that monster. He boxed with Byrd, figured him out, and nearly decapitated him with that sick uppercut/hook hybrid thing. Wlad, Vitali, Tua, McCline...none of those big monsters were able to do that to Byrd...not even close.
You gotta say that Ike had a lot of promise because of the ability he showed in the ring, but you can't call him great because he didn't do enough.
Yeah I never called him great, others do. That's what I have a problem with...........because I just don't see it. Promising? perhaps.....but nowhere near being considered great even at his short stint as a "marvel".
And the fight with Tua was highly controversial. I've scored it 115-113 in favor of Tua, and there's just no possible way I could ever agree with a 117-111 score for Ibeabuchi which was totally absurd. I saw Ike plod forward with the jab and eat consistent leather just like Rahman did against Tua in the second fight: Whaddaya know? That was a draw.
I don't see what the judges see when they're watching Tua fight these guys....and I suppose that's a bit off topic but anywho:
The Byrd victory was the staple, yes. But that's 1 single victory over a mismatched smaller opponent who was instantly figured out from the getgo. That single win coupled with the shaky win over Tua isn't enough for people to start the talk about how GREAT he would have been. Once that started..........it became a fantasy island where people are picking him to knock out greats like Holy, Tyson, Lewis, hell even Foreman.
Tomorrow when I wake up, I'll find links to some of the posts I'm referring to........that make me so adamant about stating he's so overrated.
I'm tired, and just drove back from the beach right now.

Like who?? some guy named ruelas, some guy named miguel angel gonzalez. not exactly boxing's elite. We're talking high caliber athletes , not overrated cab drivers. DLH beat a highly skilled Genaro Hernandez and he's about the only notable win for DLH in my opinion at 140 and down
I didn't say elite, I said good. And to say they are overrated cab drivers is absurd. Hernandez, Molina, Gonzales, Ruelas, and even an old Chavez were good pro fighters, and he beat every single one in impressive fashion. That has to count for something.
He's stronger than DLH? It wasn't like he was bullying DLH around the ring, you don't beat and bigger, stronger, more powerful fighter based on speed alone. What technical skill are you referring to? He had all the asetts in his favor, there was no reason he should of lost to Floyd of Mosely if he's better skilled? I know you omitted Mayweather, obviously for a reason, but I still see the Mosely claim as ludicrous.
Mosley is a pretty strong, tough guy himself. DLH's parrying defense is better than Mosley's defense, and he doesn't wing as many wide shots, leaving him open down the middle. I could not picture Oscar, even at this age, getting hit over and over with straight right hands by slow, shot Vargas as Mosley was in their first fight. De La Hoya is better on the backfoot and using lateral movement than Mosley. People often say Mosley has great boxing skills, but I think they're just fooled by the speed. Mosley has some good boxing skills, but he's at his best when trading at mid-range, with the "power-boxing", more of a speedy-slugger than a pure boxer.
Technical skills don't always win you fights. There's styles at play along with the physical gifts.
No, Ike Ibeabuchi is the most overrated fighting in the history of boxing.
If you ask anyone they think he's the greatest heavyweight to have ever laced up a pair of gloves, yet he has two wins:
1. A knockout over a blown up middleweight
2. A questionable/controversial win over a prime slugger where all he did was plod forward and throw nonstop jabs while eating leather.
Come on come on come on...
You know nobody considers him a great heavyweight.

Oscar probably is more technically skilled than Mosley. But his physical gifts, while good, aren't quite up to the level of Mosley. Mosley has faster hands and feet, is physically stronger, and has better stamina.

How is he more skilled than Mosely and Mayweather and they both beat him, even with a size and power disadvantage? You make no sense. And Hopkins is a lot more crafty, not to mention that he knocked him out. LMAO at DLH's irrational ass fans..

i think you could def argue that
dlh is more skilled in the way that he isnt gifted with blazing speed like floyd or the power of mosley or even the speed of mosley
bhop ya you could argue that but dlh has done so much with just plain skill
hes not fast not strong just very smart
in my mind hes hands down the most skilled in boxing

I spoke to a few boxing analysts and they felt as though he was overrated. But he's good for boxing. They're not going to come out on national tv and say he an "ok" boxer. They'll say he is one of the best because Oscar sells tickets. That's the bottom line. No boxing expert has ever claimed Oscar to be the best pound for pound at any time in his carreer.
I know people who think that Oscar has never lost a fight.
Like who? Blind, deaf mutes?
Have they watched the Hopkins fight? Or the first Mosley fight? Or any fight, for that matter?

Hey folks
Just read this a few mins ago, been away at the coast.
You gotta be joking me on this post. Most overrated ever? Never Oscar. Jesus, who's logging onto this forum of ours?
Ian
