is it the best story in boxing history?
This thread is not a debate of weather or not Holyfield could take Wlad, rather if he does take him is it the best story in boxing history??
Very curious to hear what others think.
Evander Holyfield is a man that has thrown himself into the Lion's Den many times. But damn, he really should stay away from a few guys like Wlad, Peter etc. Too bad he's running out of time AT a time when he can't fight the less dangerous Champs.
He lands that left hook he landed on LouieSav....
If he throws it under Klits straight right...and WK didnt see it coming...
Oh Children....all bets are off then my friends....
Hahaha, amen to that! I was thinking the same thing myself. That Left hook he laid on Lou was DEVASTATING!!! I still have no idea how Saverese got up from that. One thing I can tell you, Wlady boy aint getting up if he meets that same left hook!
If he somehow beat Wlad and after everything else he accomplished in his career I would put him in the top five and I don't see how anyone could leave him out of their top ten.
However, baring a miracle there is absolute no way Holyfield could beat Wlad. In fact, and I don't mean this as a joke because I don't think things like this are funny, I would legitimately be worried that Wlad might seriously hurt him.
Honestly, if I were Wlad, I'd be reeeaally leary of taking this fight. Not for the chance of being beaten certainly, but rather for the chance that he could very well hurt Evander quite seriously. Evander is a legend and no one wants to see him get hurt. And if I were Wlad I'd actually consider not taking this fight for that reason. You wouldn't want to be known as the man who hurt (or worse) Evander Holyfield, the Humble Warrior.
Well...
To be fair..the Holyfield that lost to Toney would get beaten to death.
The Holyfield that beat Savarese....would just get beaten....
UNLESS....
He lands that left hook he landed on LouieSav....

This would no doubt be a big pay-per-view event and a big fiscal reward for both fighters. My first reaction would be Wlad's too young/strong/big and Holyfield would get dominated. But Holyfield is strange in that you can never count the guy out. Most people picked Tyson to literally kill him and look how that turned out. Holyfield has got to be one of the most resilient and hardest working guys in sports. I seriously don't think he could beat a prime Wlad at this point in his career, but I think it might be a closer fight than one would autmatically assume.
There are some well written posts in this thread, and this is one of the best.
Holyfield has surprised a lot of us in the past. The odds are against him, but IF HE DOES WIN, what a story for the ages. He seems to want it bad.

"Holyfield next?"
"When the subject of Evander Holyfield came up, Klitschko said that he would consider facing the former four-time heavyweight champion, but would rather take on the winner of the October unification between WBA champ Rusland Chagaev and WBO titleholder Sultan Ibragimov. Recent reports still have Hasim Rahman as the frontrunner to fight Klitschko next, but Holyfield, who holds a win over Rahman, would make a lot more financial sense and could make for a more entertaining fight."
I'm pretty sure Wlad is fighting Rahman.
Holyfield would beat both Rock and Brewster and Austin.
Why are you pretty sure he's fighting Rahman? Im his last interview he said he would consider fighting both Holyfield and Rahman but would prefer a title unifacation bout. What about that statement leads you to be sure he's fighting Rahman? From a financial standpoint there is not a fight in the division that could pay Wlad as much as a match with Holyfield.
He would be called 5 time Champion. I mean damn. No doubt he would rise on all top 10 lists, i barely see people rate Holyfield in there. And George Foreman went from no top 10 HW, to one of the most overrated of all time after his legendary succesfull comeback. So i can't even imagine how people would look at Holyfield if he somehow beat Wlad.
1-Muhammed Ali
2-Mike Tyson
3-Evander Holyfield
Biggest fighters
Kill? Jabbing can kill? I think Holyfield will give Wlad the fight of his fucking life. He'll make Wlad do more than jab, jab and jab like he did against Brewster.
if your good enough to beat a guy one handed then why waste energy or risk breaking a hand by doing more? he also has a great left hook/right hand that has knocked 44 guys out. if he needs to do more than just kill holy with the jab he will. either way it would be either a one sided long beating or a short painful one and yes it would really elevate holy's all time great status if he can beat the 2007 version of wlad thats close to unbeatable
I think the fight could sell some. Better than any other heavyweight fights today. I doubt Wlad could beat Evander off of just a jab. I think Evander could test Wlad's chin.
Would this story be better than George Foreman's comeback? It might be close. Then again Wlad is way bigger than Michael Moorer who moved up.
it better by a mile because most people think that Evander doesnt even have a slim chance he got KOed by a Toney he could trouble and war and wars as well as the commision didnt renew his licence and he went to another place to get so he has a long road til he get to Wlad.
for people think that Evander doesnt have a chance is not important but its important is for him to think that he has a chance

It might be close to Foreman? I think it's way beyond Foreman considering Evander is older and is not a dominant power puncher like 'ol George. That to me makes it much more signifacant. Also Foreman never had the venemous critics like Holyfield does. Everyone knew George was always in any fight because of his lights out power even in his early 40's.

you are prob right and he should consider announcing his retirement...dont even think about making title defense moves, lol

well ofcourse it will be made into a movie. people before the fight ont give him a chance against the World Champion and he beats all the odd and shut all his critics so it something you dont have much
