popular Brooklyn stylist Paulie Malignaggi - the newest world-title claimant at 140lbs after his points win over Lovemore N'Dou at the weekend - has already marked down the Manchester 'Hitman' as the man to beat.
Malignaggi, who scored a virtual shut-out win over the tough South African at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut, said: "I want Ricky Hatton next. After Hatton is finished with Castillo, I want to fight him."
Fighting an emerging talent with no significant punch would doubtless appeal to Hatton. But first he must see off a fighter who, despite engaging in some of the most memorable fights of recent times, still has something left to prove
I think hatton would kill paulie. I hate paulie he's a cocky cunt buti dnt know why after what cotto did to him. :boxing:
YOU!!!! I CANT BELIEVE WHAT I AM HEARING FROM YOU MISTER!!!!! POTTY MOUTH, THINK UR ALL GANGSTURRR!!!!! GO TO BED NOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW...
ur momma:nonono: ima shamed off you
Paulie did good against Cotto when he chose to box, he could do very well against Hatton.
I agree, but to some extent, i have to say after seeing cotto at 147 hes obviously stronger, so i have to factor that in a tiny bit, but i think malinaggi/hatton would be a decent fight.
Hatton would walk through his punches, Pauli is too feather fisted to hurt hatton.Hatton by stoppage/ko in the middle rounds.
I don't think Hatton could stop Malignaggi if the harder hitting Cotto couldn't. Having said that Rick does throw more, maybe we could see a stoppage through accumulation.
Malignaggi isnt all that great. I really like his jab and his footwork, keeps a nice distance but other wise he dosent really have good combinations. I think Hatton would flat out beat Malignaggi maybe even a knockout victory
Malignaggi would school that bum.
he may be lighthanded but he would probably stop hatton if he thew 1 or 2 body punches
That is hilarious. Hahahaha.
That is just so adorable that you think that. Don't think too much though. It might wear you out.
What a valid, well thought out, deeply researched opinion of boxing you have. I must look out for future posts from you.
Not really at all. In his post fight interviews he's always humble as hell and gives his props to opponents. He's like everyone else in that he talks a little bit of shit to hype up the fights.
Yup, he does. If you watch the post-fight interview after the N'Dou fight, and you still don't like him, then something is wrong with you. He's honest and gives a very good assessment after his fights. If you ever see him on FNF you'll think the same thing.
BTW, I'd pick Paulie in the upset. I think he showed that he can stay away from the pressure in the N'Dou and Cotto fights if he really wants to. I mean, shiiiit, he won 5 rounds against Cotto so I believe he'd win at least 6-7 against Hatton.
Based on both Hatton and Paulies last 2 fights, id say Paulie has got a good shot, but he is still a fight or 2 away from hatton, lets get ndjougo/torres/lazcano nxt or 2 of the 3 and im sayin around may of nxt year hatton and paulie at MSG
and on a side note how sweet would it be if pbf stepped up and cemented his legacy and fought cotto at msg a month after hatton malignaggi, that would be 2 huge months for boxing. and it would be 4 young and hungry fighters in their prime goin at it, that my friends it what boxing is all about
Depends on how hatton comes in. Everyone knows that castillo is a hard fight, and with the way hatton's looked lately, he might not have anything left in him for paulie.
If Hatton looks good vs castillo, then he'll beat Paulie, if not, then we'll have a new 140 lb champ

Can Malignanggi handle all the kissing and hugging?
He doesn't have enough to keep Hatton off him. I would expect it to pan out like the Cotto fight.
As for clinching, if I was N'Dou I would have complained about excessive clinching by Malignaggi. Every time it got close Paulie would clinch and the ref would separate them both.
i think this fight would depend alot on the ref.
if he got the guy who wouldnt let ndou touch him on the inside he'd have a great chance
if he got the guy who let the entire kt/hatton fight be fought basically in the clinch he'd be fucked
if he got a mid ground ref hatton would be too much for feather fists malignaggi
