Is Castillo past his best? Yes...
Does that mean that this is a meaningless win for Hatton? No...
Castillo is still a tough opponent and he'll push Hatton for 12 rounds or however long the fight lasts. Castillo is no easy fight.
That said, the guy has been in a lot of taxing fights and his skills have seemed to diminish. I'd hope that he was showing signs of fading after the timeless war with Corrales...that was the type of fight that gives you brain damage. If he wasn't slowing down you'd have to think the guy was superman.
I'll say it now.
Castillo is done.
and I'll 2nd that. as much as i hate to say it, hatton is going to hurt castillo. this will probably be castillo's last fight and i don't see him lasting 8 rounds. too many wars, hatton is the much fresher fighter
do not put money on castillo
Who cares if Castillo is over the hill or not? If Hatton beat a prime Castillo it wouldnt make Hatton the greatest who ever lived! If he beats a little past his sell by date Castillo it dont make Hatton the greatest fighter who ever lived. So what does it matter? Hatton just has to make sure he is able to beat him to fight another day.
Hatton haters wont give Hatton credit no matter what happens or whatever Castillo turns up. Theyll criticise the hugging, his marked up face how so called ugly he is or how pale his skin tone was in comparison to Castillo. Hatton has just got to do what hes got to do. Just like PBF did.
Hatton cant win in the eyes of his haters he'll only have won because Castillos washed up, but who gives a fuck about their opinions?? self appointed judges judging means fuck all.
To me it depends on how Castillo looks during the fight.
I'm picking Hatton to beat Castillo but that's because there are questions surrounding Castillo's last performance.
Castillo is hurting more by his inability to make the weight than anything, although he is no spring chicken. Hatton has been exposed. It's just going to be a matter of who has better endurance and fire power. I'd favor the old Castillo over the new Hatton, but who knows what Castillo will bring to the ring?
When Hatton defeats young, undefeated titleholders like Urango, the Hatton haters say it is meaningless. If he beats a 33 year old boxer with 47 KOs in his career, they'll say JLC was washed up. Who should he fight so these bitches respect him?
But Castillo is a great fighter and in top shape and will not be an easy opponent, and Hatton deserves full credit if he wins this one!
Jose Luis Castillo is 33.
Oscar De La Hoya is 34.
Joe Calzaghe is 35.
Bernard Hopkins is 42.
C'mon people stop being such hateful bitches and be fair to Ricky Hatton!
From all the old fighters you named, one could arguably say Castillo has been in more wars than all those fighters combined!!!
Lets be fair to Castillo also here. We all know this isn't a prime younger Castillo.
If you're not even willing to entertain the thought that the 33 year old fighter with 63 fights under his belt might just be past his best... I think youre being a little closed minded.
Amen!
only its not just a little close minded, its very close minded lol.
Doesnt matter what people say. People can and will always say what they want to believe to suit their argument.
Castillo thinks he is in the best shape ever and so does his trainer. Theyve no reason to tell porkie pies.. Because if Hatton knocked Castillo out in 1 round it wouldnt look good for Castillo, in that he was in great shape and still losing in 1 round to Hatton.
So Hatton will be fighting the true Castillo! It will be as tough as it could ever be. Castillo wants it real bad.
But Hatton has said he was in the greatest shape hes been in,in the Collazo fight he said he felt so strong and fast at his new weight, and can go nonstop for 12 rounds,we seen what happened, then he says the weight effected him, alot of fighters say there in the best shape of there life

People already believe Castillo isnt the same

Yeah i know. Who ever hatton beats there will be an excuse. He beats castillo then castillo, if he beats cotto then cotto is one dimensional. So hatton will never win with the critics unless he beats floyd.
even then they will say floyd was over-rated:ugh:
