He is a potent body puncher but is Judah too fast? Do you think he'll be a still enough target for Cotto to rip away at the body?
I think it will be hard for Cotto to execute in this fight. Plus we don't know if he can take Judah's best shot. I think if he somehow wins it will be late in the fight. As Mayweather noted Judah's a "front runner" who may get tired.
I'm taking Judah flat out. I think his experience will be the key. He has fought much tougher oppenents. He's fought Tyszu, Baldomir, Mayweather, Spinks twice. All of those guys are exceptional at times, and I think he's easily faced the better opposition.
Who dropped Cotto? or stunned him I forgot. But I think Zab's power will be a problem for Cotto.
It was Corley that kept catching him with right hooks, and eventually had him doing the chicken dance, and Corley isn't really a puncher. Slick'n'quick, yes (gave Mayweather one of his hardest fights ever), but not a big hitter. And with Judah being a southpaw, and a much heavier handed puncher than Corley, I think Cotto may end up being stopped, if he starts trading with Judah the same way he did with Corley.
And about the "If this" or "If that" exceptions when making this call: I don't think anyone can predict the fighter's frame of mind or intent until the first bell rings. Cotto has the ability and opportunity to beat Judah....how he decides to fight the first few rounds will determine the outcome. And since he's young, I think he's going to try and prove himself and come out swinging for the fences, leaving himself open to counter right-hooks and straight left hands, and I think he'll be stopped before the fight reaches the halfway point. If he isn't, it'll be because he took the smarter route and played it a little safer.
Adding exceptions like this doesn't make me afraid to make a call. Afraid to place a bet, maybe, but I don't mind calling it. If I were in Cotto's training camp I wouldn't mind betting a bundle, though. I made a small fortune on Winky against Tito a couple of years back, but that was an easy call for anyone who knows anything about boxing. The only people who picked Tito were casual fans, and people who think a big punch is the answer to everything. Quite alot of people, as it turned out.
I want Zab to win because he has more to lose!!! But i like both of them!!! Brain sez cotto heart sez Zab!!! Zab needs to be at his best to win this one!!! Like he was after he came back from the Kostya lay off!!! Zab looked like the full package when dusted Spinks!!! This is the zab i want to see in this one!!!

cotto is going to beat judah, unless judah catches him with a big shot, other than that judah is dead in the water.
cotto is going to be able to get to zab's body, zab has next to zero foot work, and doesn't use his jab enough to keep cotto on the outside. judah has crap for punch output, cotto will easily out work him. cotto was broken down to the body by mayweather with just single pot shots to the body, whereas cotto goes to work on a steady basis when he fights.
judah's defense is next to nil, he always keeps his guard low and his hands around his waist. judah always poses after throwing a punch, especially the left hand, and judah isnt just fighting a orthodox fighter he is also facing a guy who fights right but is left handed and can fight left handed. enough to mix up his attack and give a little more confusion to judah.
judah's chin is more suspect to cotto's chin. both are suspect but cotto has taken the shots better than judah.
i'm not a huge cotto fan, i'd say since his last few wins i've become more of a fan because he's won and worked like a professional i and respect that, which has made me more of a fan. cotto does need to prove himself a little more to gain the high acclaim that some have for him, but i think he is on the right path as far as his career is moving.
as for judah, that guy has been nothing but a let down or an underachiever his whole career. besides his outside the ring behavior his actions in the ring have never lived up to expectations. also he has had so many chances, judah is the youngest most recycled fighter in recent years. he's had more than his chance to something good with his career and do something positive and yet he always lets it go to crap.............no sympathy here.
i have a feelin judah could ruin cotto.. but cotto has been stepping up lately
I have a feelin cotto is the type of fighter who could lose in any fashion to Zab and come back stronger, tougher
COTTO IS READY!!!
Miguel Cotto is ready for his fight against Judah and he demonstrated it today even though it wasn’t on purpose. In a sparring match against Patrick Lopez from Venezuela Cotto opened up a cut on his left eye with one punch. The interesting part about all of this is that Patrick Lopez had on Full head gear on.
Lopez was gushing blood and had to leave the ring to take care of cut.
“ Miguel is already almost at 100%. He has not had any problems during training and he has adjusted very well to the sparring partners who are doing a great job of acting like Zab” Diaz
“We have sparred more then 120 rounds so far. Based on his Miguel’s conditioning right now I don’t think this fight last more then 10 rounds” Diaz
“I feel very good. I am confident and anxious for the fight. We have done a great training and we have trained for the left hand a lot” Miguel Cotto
Miguel Cotto assured that Zab’s comments have not bothered him at all.
“ A fighter does not win anything with his words. If he has anything to say to me; Let him tell me it to my face on June 9th and we will see who will win; THE PUNCHES OR THE WORDS!!! MIGUEL COTTO

Now come on Borikua you know this kind of stuff gets me all hot and bothered. I'll always support Miguelito...win, lose, or draw.
im starting to change my mind on this one .. i like judah but he has never faced a fighter like cotto..cotto is slowly turning into a a mini tyson but his right hand isnt that good yet ..and he needs more movement especially with his head
My money is on Judah on this one, Cotto doesn't bring anyting to the ring that Zab hasn't seen before - in fact he's seen it from better fighters than Cotto.
It's Cotto who will be in the ring with the fastest fighter he has ever faced, and one that has more power than any fighter he has faced so far. Add to that, the fact that Judah is also a great "boxer" who knows how to get in and out quickly with the jab, and BTW - Cotto won't be the only good body puncher in the ring on the 9th, Judah can go upstairs and downstairs with speed and accuracy. Cotto better watch out for the punch that I personaly think will end the fight - that short, quick and powerful uppercut, Judah throws it from different angles, and follows it up with a good straight right, then a left hook - it's a pretty combo when he is on his game.
Judah has been sparring with the Undefeated Peterson Brothers too, and if he can make those speedy fighters miss - well - it will look like Cotto is throwing slow motion punches compared to the Peterson Brothers.
For the record, I have been watching Judah spar, and he looks sharp - my prediction - Judah by TKO in either Round 5 or Round 6, perhaps even sooner...
I totally disagree. Zab Judah has never fought a body puncher with this much skill or power. Miguel cuts the ring off better than anyone Judah has fought and his left hook to the body is among the best seen in the 140/147 pound weight classes.
yeh i like him and hes an immense fighter but hes in too deep this time, judah has some stupid losses on his record that came from lack of focus and just being a cock, im hoping a different judah turns up for this fight and if he does, cotto has fucked it.
there are plenty of zab judahs that could turn up to that fight though ... if the showboating prick turns up then cotto has a good chance
remember we have a bet manc
