Almost. I just wanted to point out that it's coming straight from Shane's mouth- he is the one who said the fight is going to happen. The other thread did not make me realize that Mosley himself is telling people Cintron is still busy and Baldomir is the guy he wants to fight.
Moments ago former three division kingpin "Sugar" Shane Mosley informed **********.com that he plans on returning to the ring in June and former welterweight champion Carlos "Tata" Baldomir is the man he's got his sights set on. "The guy I wanted to fight before Collazo was Kermit Cintron, but he's still caught up in litagation and Golden Boy will not get involved with that, so the fight that we're going to be working on for June is Carlos Baldomir," said Mosley. Full one on one interview with the Sugarman to follow tomorrow morning. (4:37 PM EST)
Also, there was speculation that Mosley would hop onto the undercard or be a co-feature in the Wright-Hopkins fight. That fight is happening in July, though, and Shane is still talking about fighting in June.
Baldomir has a very solid chin but he was knocked out early in his career by a guy who, to date, only has 16 KO's in over 50 fights. Point is...it's always possible for a strong puncher like Shane to put someone like Baldy down.
i think mosley just wants to make a statement and upstage mayweather's baldy win (which is kind of dumb). i would only be impressed if shane knocked baldy out. which could happen. shane is stronger than gatti and floyd and fast as hell. but carlos has a rock chin for sure. but if shane fights baldy and wins UD, that kind of sucks. a KO would be crazy impressive though, and telling of shanes power in comparison to floyd.
well, if zab pulled a miracle and beat cotto, there's no way he'd fight shane cause he would get KTFO for sure...
i think shane does not want to fight cintron, but hey i guess he is almost done with his career he wants big cash and less risk
This is Zab's one shot back. Pretty much everyone recognizes Cotto as one of the next big things. He's undefeated, strong, and has a big Puerto Rican fan base. He's steadily getting more and more popular. A cash cow. If Zab Judah, despite all his past problems, can beat Miguel Cotto he's back. No one will discredit a solid win. They'll just say what we all know, "While being very inconsistent....Zab again proved his has championship quality talent...".
I say winner (shane of course) fight the winner of Judah-Cotto...then the winner of that should fight Floyd..

With how messed up Margarito's hand apparently is and his mandatory with Williams, he'll fight Williams this summer and then MAYBE fight again this year. Who cares though, he's too slow for Shane anyways (of course, so it Baldy)
A lot of people never saw Mayweather-Baldy, not as many as those who saw Gatti-Baldomir on live regular HBO. That said, its not a great fight but it is not Shane's fault because there wasn't a fight out there at 147 that matched the early summer time frame. Nothing wrong with this fight and I'm happy to see Baldomir get one last payday
I don't even see Mosley-Baldomir helping to set up Mosley-Mayweather, honestly. I mean, the only people who are going to be impressed with wins against boxers the general public has no clue of are boxing fans. We already know that Mosley-Mayweather would be a big fight. They'd have the common opponent of DLH- why do they need Baldy? There is no need for Shane to fight Carlos in hopes of hyping a fight with Floyd. Oscar's defeat at both their hands would be putty in the grips of promoters..
Yeah I know, based on him. What's the problem waiting for another 30 days? If the best opponent is available on July not June then he should fight on July. That's real.
Mosley and Baldomir will probably make more money headlining a fight than being on the undercard.
Overrated Baldy? Who on earth overrated Baldy? People who gave him a chance against Floyd? I don't think there were many of those, at all.
He was a huge underdog vs. Zab and a solid underdog vs. Gatti, beat them both, and then got himself a big fight vs. Floyd. It is a great story, but I don't think anyone trumpeted Baldomir as anything other than a great, Rocky-style underdog success story.
That said, if he gets a Mosley fight, good for him. It isn't the best fight in the world, and I surely expect Shane to box circles around him, but Baldy again will be a huge underdog and thus not overrated at all...
sometimes Baldomir could suprise use once again is going to be a good story.
the guy is full of suprises what happen if Baldomir win Shane?
The fighter with the fastest hands vs a fart faced frankenstein with the slowest hands in boxing.
Mosley KO 3
Baldy chin is made of steel and he is smart fighter so i going with Shane UD
For a regular HBO telecast this is an OK fight. I mean Baldy is tough and keeps on coming and applying pressure. Yeah, Shane can box circles around him but at least we know Baldomir is not going to try to outbox him and go straight at him which makes it kind of entertaining.

there are guys on this forum that think baldy is as good or better than margarito and cintron based off that one win over zab and the overrated win over gatti...
