He fought hard, but mosely was in superior shape and used his experience perfectly. I did hear that collazo fractured his hand after the 3 rd round.
He threw a lot less punches than any fight in his career, something was wrong with him.
But my hats off to mosely, he is definately a class act.
He didn't dissapoint me because I didn't expect him to win anyway. What did surprise me was the level of which both fighters fought that night. I was sure that Mosely would take him out in 8th or 9th round but Collazo stuck around.
It wouldn't have made any difference to me who won that fight.
u guys are messed up, because he lost now he's not even puerto rican.
us dudes that were born in nyc but have puerto rican parents are very proud of our heritage. i'm sure more proud than even some of the people that live in puerto rico.
he goes into the ring most of the time with either puerto rico on his uniform or a puerto rican flag to represent.
i don't know about dissing cotto, but he wanted to get the big fight in nyc against cotto. half of that stuff is just to get attention, which obviously worked to a point.
collazo will be back mark my words
Thats right he did disrespect Cotto. I forgot about that.
yep, sorta the reason i dont like him, what kinda rican disrespects his own countrymen :nonono:
As far as I know real Puerto Ricans from the island dont even like him. He disrespected Cotto with stupid steroid rumors that got a lot of people pissed. Hes from New York. You should be asking did he dissapoint the people from New York. He aint from Puerto Rico so why would they be dissapointed?
I hate Collazo and im glad he lost. He wants throwing as many punches as possible because he couldnt. He wasnt in there with Jose Rivera or Ricky Hatton, he was in there with Shane Mosley. Its harder to let your hands go against Mosley then anyone else he has faced. Collazo didnt belong in the same ring as Mosley.
well many people from NY say they are PR but once he is lost everybody throws him around saying his not one of us but if he win everybody will say yes he is one of us just like Roberto Duran and other fighters

on one of the other fights they reported:
Collazo suffered broken thumb!
Former welterweight champion Luis Collazo made a brief appearance at the post-fight press conference Saturday night where he revealed a hand injury that occurred after he landed a succession of straight lefts in the second and third rounds before losing a unanimous decision to "Sugar" Shane Mosley at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. A post-fight x-ray recommended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission revealed a fracture to Collazo's left thumb and three torn ligaments. He also received five stitches on his left eyelid caused by an accidental head butt in the fourth round. He undergo surgery next week.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Collazo's co-trainer Byron Oglesby told Fightnews, "This was a very unfortunate situation. To be in a fight of this magnitude and for an injury like that to take place is very disappointing. It’s unfortunate but what can you do? That’s the nature of the business. Louie is still the future of the welterweight division. Hopefully, God willing, we can make the fight happen again. This was a pure testament of the level and caliber of Louie’s talent. To be a able to compete with a fighter of Shane Mosley’s pedigree with a broken hand for ten rounds lets you know that there aren’t to many athletes like him around. He will be doing big things in the future. No one is trying to discredit Shane’s victory, but he got of the hook this time.
actually i think it was the biggest he came in at.
with rivera he was about 154 and hatton at 156.
this past saturday he came it at 160, i don't think that mattered anyway.
in this fight it was about the angles.
you think hurting his hand affected the outcome, they said it broke in 3 places. and he looked really good in the second round, the only round that all three judges gave him.
mosely i believe would of still won, his experience and his physical shape was definately better.
I wasnt dissapointed, and I'm boricua. As mentioned before, he faced a better fighter, a guy in a league of his own that night, and he put up a solid fight. Showed heart in staying in there with a broken hand, but Mosley was simply better. Collazo will bounce back and still ripple the waters at 147.
I dont see what being puerto rican has to do with anything, he dissapointed himself, which is what really matters anyway, not to mention shitty corner advice.
I'm not Puerto Rican, but I don't see how you could say he was "disappointing." He tried and was out boxed by a better fighter on that night. I could one saying this type of thing if Collazo was fighting someone he was supposed to beat, but Mosley was clearly ahead of Collazo or on even terms at least heading into the fight.
The only thing that may have been disappointing was Collazo's lack of urgency in the late rounds.
I think collazo needs to spend some time training in PR to get use to that Puerto Rican young Boxer hunger. I don't think he is that hungry at least he did not look that hungry. He tried his best Mosley was just to fast.

At least he tried... I thought he was a better fighter myself but I'm not disappointed, Mosley came in with a plan and executed it well. Collazo waited a bit too long, some say he broke his left hand? I don't know, he was clearly outmatched and that's it.
in the second round he looked really good, but then the amount of punches he threw was very low, unlike him. he usually throws a lot more combinations.
I was told his hand was throbbing after the 3rd round, after going to the hospital they found 3 fractures along his thumb and hand.
I dont think he did. You could tell that Collazo was game and trained hard and was in top form, its just that he fought a better fighter plain and simple.
An athlete once said "99% of people have never given there 100% all, tried there very best, done there very best, and yet still fail"
