Surprised i haven't seen much on this fight.. no way should Lazcano been deducted a point in the fashion it happened, especially when it happened..
IMO, Harris could've made it an early night had he payed attention to his corner...
i don't give Harris much of any chance against any of the top guys at 140
what did yall think from his performance (or lack there of) saturday?
That's my point.. Lazcano made him fight ugly? Why wouldn't Harris fight his fight.. everytime Harris keep that distance, no question, he can't lose the fight.. it seemed through cockiness, he sunk down and fought at that close, close distance just to prove something and it cost him many rounds that he could've easily taken otherwise..
and i know his intention was to make the statement that he could stand and trade, but he failed at that, miserably... just look at the close scores..
i completely agree that he would've taken the fight had he fought his fight.. maybe im just a bit disapointed that he'd let himself get sucking into a type of fight that obviously doesn't suit him
In short, i'm not sure he'd get "blown out" by ANY fighter, but against the best at 140 and 147, i don't like his chances because of the choices he makes in the ring
your absoltely right...i was kinda stumped when i saw him going inside to trade....i had a quick flash back of that dumbass litzau
No way!
Herman N. was working with Castillo pretty well and I feel that Harris is wayyy better than Herman N..
As for Hatton, it depends on the one that shows up. But it's a closer fight than you might think.
Ngoudjo or however the fuck you spell that crazy name presented Castillo with a much different look than HArris would though.
^^^ was in that tight defensive shell and was effective with his short punches inside. Harris would be outside for the most part, slangin that long right hand and coming back with the left hook.
The long layoff obviously affected Castillo a little bit. He was rather sluggish...I think we'll see him better than that in the future. Once HArris saw that he couldn't merc out Castillo with his power he'd get discouraged. Castillo would take Viv right out of him gameplan....he'd eat that ribcage right up.
Hes a good fighter with plenty of skills. He just seems to have problems listening. He might be too confident for his own good, and he doesnt seem to have a lot of heart.
Is he fighting Witter next?
I hope he fights Witter and beat him, i think too many people are starting to over rate Witter - but to be fair i haven't seen Witter fight since his fight with Judah.
Harris gets worked by Hatton, Castillo or by any of those top guys at 147. He has some high points, but ultimately too many lapses to get to the very top.

I don't know what you're looking for.....
Lazcano is as tough a customer as you'll find for that type of fight. He hit Harris with a barrage of low blows, elbows and headbutts and made the fight ugly. Harris made a statement in that he could stand and trade with him...and even though he was inactive he was getting hit and not backing down. The minute he took the fight outside...he did what he was supposed to do.
I think if he wasn't trying to prove a point....he would have stopped Lazcano in the middle rounds after pot shotting him from the outside. Styles make fights and I don't think anyone can look impressive against Lazcano..but whatever. If you aren't impressed that's your opinion.

nothing he showed in saturday's fight gave me any reason to think otherwise.. maybe it's just me

to the elite of the division, i just don't see him as a threat, unless it's a specific style flaw in the opponent he's facing

Maybe a better question would be, "Who do you think would absolutely blow out Vivian Harris?"
How come you don't give him a shot?
He's a skilled boxer, HUGE for his weight class, can bang and can take a punch.
I don't see how he wouldn't be a concern for everyone in the division.

Good fighter, better then i had thought and physiclly bigger then i thought since i had thought Lazcano was going to be the bigger fighter. I think he can compete at 140, take Margarito away from the 147 pounds and he'll be stronger and maybe hit harder at 147.
He has the potential to give anyone problems.
Unless he completely unravels himself like he did against Maussa....I don't see how people are going to deal with him on the outside at 140....and if he moves up to 147 he'll carry his power. I think he'd knock Paul Williams into next week, because he'd just attack him. He has that Teddy Reid long punching power that causes trouble.
Harris can fight two ways, either box or he can just bang. We saw Lazcano hit him with the kitchen sink...even low and the punches just bounced off him. Before that he showed resolve by taking some combos and letting Stevie Johnston dictate the pace for 1 or 2 rounds, and then just became dominant.
Even at that before he collapsed againt Maussa he was pretty impressive against Urkal. I think he can beat anyone if he doesn't beat himself.

Alright, kind of just touched on this in the predictions thread but here goes anyway...
Vivian's combination looked sharp and even Lazcano, who has a pretty decent chin, felt the power. Harris's chin is a little in question as with the stamina issue. Two VERY important things to deal with before he's ready for the elite at WELTERWEIGHT. But at 140, he's ready now.
IMO, if he's having the trouble he's having now (whether he realizes it or not), he shouldn't go NEAR 147 anytime soon...
There didn't seen to be much fluidity to Harris' offense during the fight.. and him crouching down with Lazcano was almost a show of arrogance on his part IMO.
Surprised i haven't seen much on this fight.. no way should Lazcano been deducted a point in the fashion it happened, especially when it happened..
