They're airing a couple of Whitaker's fights.
I'm watching the Nelson fight right now, and they're going to air the fight with Mcgirt after this, then Bowe v.s. Holy 3.
Later on they're going to show Lewis v.s. Mercer and Holy v.s. Mercer.
Badass fights those are.

I wonder if anybody has Whitakers fight with Fearless Freddie Pendleton on their CPU. Now there was a guy whose record did not speak for his fighting ability. He was a very solid little lightweight. He was like a better version of Emmanuel Augustus...except he wasn't quite the joker that Augustus is.
I'd love to see that one again. Pendletons bout with Ruelas was supposedly pretty special too. Almost stopped due to the 3 KD rule...
Run I can't take people like you seriously, if you knew the sport of boxing a little better then I would take you seriously! :crackhead
Oh I'm sure everyone takes a guy who uses every single "Owned" Icon in every single post seriously. You're a tool, joke, and a biased disgrace to this site.
Parodius was banned, and you came back. You're a complete tool because you're worse now than you were as Parodius.

:lol1: :lol1: Yes he did, you moron!
BTW I was talking about Anton Robinson, not Ray Robinson! :owned:
What does a 26-9 LightHeavyweight who never fought for a world title doing in this conversation and how in any aspect did you own anybody??
Don't compare Robinson to those patty cakes.
He never took a backward step his entire career, and he wasn't a defensive fighter. I don't even know where you're getting this "skilled" thing from...Robinson wasn't that skilled. He was naturally gifted and just simply more of a badass than anyone else.
He used his superior speed and gifts to beat everyone. Not skill.
So he is making a valid point saying that PBF, Leonard and Whitaker were more skillfull....
Once again, Gunstar fucking up threads with his misinformation.
Quit posting that little owned icon in every post, it's really stupid.

He did have skills. Had great timing, speed and power and knew how to box. I've seen a fight highlights of Robinson and he has shown some great skills. But i can't say i've seen of of his complete fights.

True, robinson beat like 7 hall of famers.
Easily one of best boxers I've ever seen, you don't see guys like Whitaker everyday.
PBF, Whitaker and Leonard are the 3 of the best skilled boxers I've ever seen and I've seen Robinson!

That's just the thing...Whitaker wasn't showboating in a close fight. He was clowning in a fight that he was completely controlling. That was one of the worst robberies of the modern era...probably of the 80's. Certainly just as bad as the Chavez robbery.
Whitaker was hitting Ramirez with quick combinations and was making Ramirez miss worse than he ever had before. That's a fight I wish I had on my computer....but it would bother me to possess it in a way.
A lot of people just didn't know what to do when faced with Whitakers antics. Like in the McGirt fight when he ducked down really low and the ref was warning him for it...
The Vazquez fight was crazy too. Pernell only had the one moment where he got too overconfident while slugging with Vazquez and he got caught. He kept punching it out with Vazquez though.
I thought Whitiker was showboating/clowning.
The Chavez v. Whitiker fight was a draw......it was a draw. Whitiker had to fight dirty against Chavez and had to fight back hard or be eaten alive. I still think it was a close fight. Nobody mentions how Whitiker totally gave away the 12 round against Chavez....Whitiker resorted to holding, running, and showboating.
I seen the second Ramierez fight, Whitiker clearly outboxed him, i havnt seen their first fight. I've never seen either of the Mcgirt fights. I downloaded the Whitker v. Hurtado fight but I only have the first 9 rounds. And i haven't even seen the 9 rounds, cause i've heard this was a tough showing for Whitiker but at the same time a great fight. So i dont' watch an uncomplete fight. If you have the rest of the rounds, send them my way.
Somtimes when i see Whitikers fights, I want to download them, then sometimes i'm having flash back of a dominating effort by Whitiker in a shut out and im thinking, next time i'll download the fight by then, the link is already expired.
That last fight that Whitiker took, made him look bad. He should have never took that Bojarquez fight. But, thats how it goes somtimes a fighter retires when he didn't expect to lost. It happened to Whitiker and Chavez they weren't expected to lose there fights.
I bet there is going to be a huge crowd for his induction that also has Duran and Lopez and other that i forget at the moment. That is one great line up of HOF to be inducted in one day. Im actually surprised that they inducted these great fighters all at the same time. Truly 3 great all time great fighters.
Whats funny to now that im thinking about it. Im thinking when a fighter retires, even his haters forgive his past performances and see his fights of the past. I know i can be called a hater but i respected his skills. And i too somtimes i see an old Whitiker fight. But usally when i was fights of the past, or studying a fighter. I useally like to see there tough fights. See how they did when pushed then you see how just dominate other fights effortless.
I had Rivera ahead by 2 rounds.
Hook me up with the Paez fight.
I've read that he show boated his way to a lose against Ramierez in there 1st fight. And he show boated too much in the later rounds against Delahoya. One of my former boxing trainer used to get made when people talked about the Whitiker v. Delahoya fight. He'd explain that Whitiker is a great fight, great boxer, but a vetern like him should know not to show boat in a close fight, basicly giving the rounds away.

I scored Rivera/whitaker II something like 114-111. Close but clear decision for Whitaker in my opinion. Pernell just outfought him that night, and was unfairly shafted with a 10-8 round in one of those middle rounds.

Yeah I watched Pea's fight against Maromero Paez.
I don't understand the scoring in that fight because Paez was just getting his ass handed to him virtually every single round except for what looked like a punch that stunned Whitaker in the third or fourth round.
He whipped Paez' ass all over the place just like he did Pineda.
He didn't simply try and frustrate them, he was beating their asses like red headed step children. They'd get tattooed over and over with the right jab and quick straight lefts. Over and Over and Over.
I suppose judges didn't like him because he wasn't really a big puncher.

To be honest ferocity I haden't seen the fight and when I saw it posted I d/l it and watched it just for enjoyment because I like Pernell, but without scoring it I felt that P won a good fight. Now I'm interested in getting that first fight to check it out because I enjoyed the 2nd one.
I never really liked watching Whitiker fight when he was still fighting, though some fight he made interesting. He had a bit of a borring style. But i respected him as a fighter. Once he drew with Chavez, he moved up high in the ranking and became a star. I did see a bit of his older fights on utube against Mayweather and some spaniard. Really good fights. Showed Whitiker was a warrior. He fought a bit dirty too. Whitiker v. Quartey would have been great. And now remembering, i did enjoyed his fight against Vasquez, he totally outboxed him, good showing against a tought Champion. Theres no doubt that Whitiker would be Champion in todays welterweight division.

Whitaker put up better performances out of his prime than leonard did. Leonard got flat out owned by norris, whitaker was never dominated like that against trinidad. The funny thing is that trinidad is much bigger than whitaker too. Pernell has to be top 15 pound for pound, easily. He's beat like 13/14 good- decent fighters, chavez has beat like 8.
Bert sugar has no credibility in my eyes, he favours old farts. Pernell is #48 according to him and spinks isn't even top 100, thats just stupid. He can favour the guys from the 1910's as much as he wants, i dont care.
Yeah rankings wise I'd have to re assess Whitaker.
As for the bolded: That's more of the stay too long critiquing.
Whitaker and Leonard were both washed up when they lost to Norris and Trinidad. Those losses really don't have any bearing on their all time ranking in my opinion. Much like Evander Holyfield.

He fought with Trinidad, and boxed with Delahoya. Had he fought with Delahoya as he did with Trinidad, Delahoya would have hurt him.
I downloaded the 2nd fight and I felt P won but it was a good fight and I remember the commentators dissagreeing with some of the scores I believe but agreeing Pernell won. I haven't seeen the first fight though so can't comment on that one. Ferocity was it closer then the 2nd fight?
Its been years since i've seen the first fight, so i don't recall. How did you score the 2nd fight - if you kept track of the scores round by round.
