He was done by the 3rd or 4th round. Emotionally, mentally, and physically.
it didnt matter how hard he trained, he will still fade early in the fights. He was out mentally midway throught the fight.
The right down the middle was working everytime he tried it, but he almost completely dispensed with it as the rounds went on. He was mentally exhousted.
The kid no longer has what it takes to compete at the highest of levels. He'll never beat a high level oppenent for the rest of his career.
I don't think Lacy is shot, but I do think that he has some problems to correct. Firstly, there are the mental issues to overcome after suffering such a one-sided defeat in a big fight. Secondly, he needs to diversify his skill set and learn to adapt better DURING fights. As someone mentioned above, I see a lot of Jermain Taylor in him in that he has a lot of natural ability (in this case great power) and relies on that skill TOO much. Just like JT relied on the 1-2 too much. I give Lacy a pass for this fight becuase it was the first fight back, the long lay off, the possible injury, and I heard his training camp was a mess. Nonetheless, he should really try to work on better boxing skills and defense.
How did you feel about my uncle's reffing of the fight?
Was he the ref for the Winky fight? If he was to be honest the ref did a horrible job in that fight and called to wrong KDs but if it was for the Lacy fight he did a fine job...........I remember you saying he reffed another fight I had watched and I thought he did a great job that time.......I know it is a tough job so don't be pissed if it was him who reffed the Winky fight he just had a bad night if it was.
Actually some guy hit a guy down on the floor and as he was being escorted out he got into it with another guy like 2 rows in front of me and got jacked up by a pretty small white guy..........It was pretty funny because it was a pretty large black dude and he threw a punch and this skinny white guy clocked his ass and he fell into the cops hands........It was a pretty large disturbance.

Absolutely right..........
I just got home from the fights.........I was very disappointed in Lacy but would not say he is shot by any means. He uses his jab very nicely early and then forgets he has one and becomes a plodding, looking for one shot and now tired fighter. He was rusty no doubt and started fast and lost his steam.I don't know what to say.....He is my favorite fighter but did not look good and was lucky to get the W I had it a draw.
....Maybe Birmingham isn't the right trainer for Lacy. I had the feeling that Lacy was on the verge of getting KO'd near the end of that fight. I wouldn't say his shot either but he definitely needs to refine his game.
i'll give the guy more time...........its very hard though as boxing is all about confidence........lacy got his confidence built up over a period of time with many fights........so he only knew, better and better of himself......
now he knows that he got clocked bad and is trying to rebuild............it could take him 4-5 fights to get back on track......perhaps he can fight a few bums every 3 months or so and build up his confidence within a year or so to aim for the top again.
now thats what you call a home town verdict!...he lost by atleast 2 points!.. I was cheering for him...but its obvious Joe showed his weaknessto the rest of the world...now anyone who fights lacy will use that fight as a blueprint...Lacy needs to learn some more skills...to beable to adapt to different styles....I wouldnt give up on him just yet,he could stillfind himself with a Belt and a decent record and a whole heapof cash by the time he retires...and with all that you could hardly call him a failure...but he'snever going to be destined for immortality....like ali, sugar ray,roy jones even tyson!....he simply isnt skilled enough....but i do hope he sorts it out..he doesnt seem to much of a dick like alot of other boxers
The question is "Shot" or "Overrated." Personally I thought the latter. I know his camp and SHowtime did a good job carefully selecting his fights and hyping him as the "Middleweight Mike Tyson" but I never bought it. Look at it this way, the one time he's really stepped up he got freaking pummeled. Afer his performance tonight, the jury still has to be out if he's champ material.
Lacy did look bad, but we need to see him fight again before we can say he's shot. SInce the Calzaghe fight he looks like he ballooned up to 220 pounds with also means he wasnt spending much time in the gym. The weight loss for this fight and the rust from not fighting or training for awhile plus the fact that he is coming off a devastating loss might explain why he looked so bad because he is working out the kinks. If he looks anything like this in his next fights though he is done.
u went to the fight? if so what happened with all the distraction at the end of the wright fight like the 9th and on round or something like that.it was so much distraction even winky turned to look and then got hit. i hope they shut up that loud mouth guy

Lacy is not shot. He is damaged a bit, but to say he is shot is far fetched. He is limited. He does not utilize the totality of his skills either.
Absolutely right..........

unranked tsypko could have KO'd him if he kept throwing the straight left instead of those right hooks. lacy didnt look tired late, he looked like a beat up, shot fighter
That's not true. Watch his fight with Sid Vanderpool. Compare it with tonight. He looked like a shell of his former self. He claims that he hurt his left arm in the 3rd round, so he wasn't able to use his best weapon. I don't think he's done. What do you expect after that long lay-off. He even said before the fight that this was the best time to face him. Give him another fight before the harsh critism. You guys give up too early. Remind me of Bulls fans.
I'm not giving up on him, I never supported him to begin with, there's a difference.
That said I respect any many who laces up the gloves and trades leather for a living. I'm simply not a fan of his.
I never really saw much in Lacy to begin with. To me he was just a Mike Tyson clone. Big strong guy with muscles, knocking out a bunch of relative unknowns with few exceptions. Building up a fanbase that he didn't deserve with skills he never had.
