Your thoughts? I think its a good matchup though it could really mess up Gatti big time.

Gatti might die. Don't let it happen.
yeah, i agree. arturo has taken a few too many beatings to let this happen, but he is stubborn, he'll make it happen. i hope gatti retires after this, it could be a great fight but cotto will end gatti's career
Please Gatti dont take this fight. I want you to have one more fight and end on a good note but fighting Cotto is crazy and this would prolly be one of the few times I would fear for my fighters health becasue cotto can bang hard. I do give Gatti a punchers chance but thats about it.
I don't think Gatti should get in there with Cotto. I'd be rooting for Cotto and unless Gatti can hurt Cotto, Gatti could be in trouble.
That is certainly a possibilty. Gatti has the power to rock Cotto's suspect chin. Against Baldomir, Gatti hit him flush but Baldomirs chin is 10 times better than Cotto's.
Gatti has a puncher's chance but not a great one. I think it's a very foolish fight for him to take. Cotto comes right at you and isn't difficult to hit but he's very strong and determined and if you hurt him he proved he can come back to fnish you vs. Torres. Not a very good chance of Gatti winning or even going the distance for that matter. I hope this fight doesn't happen.
Gatti could always land a bomb on Cotto's shaky chin and end things. It is certainly a possible outcome considering Cotto's leaky defense. If that scenario plays out Gatti can always sign to face Margarito next and see what happens. :boxing:
i think it could probably be a good fight. they're both straight up fighters for the most part, even though gatti likes to box at times. i think cotto would send him to retirement. he's just too young and too good.
Listen the only reason Gatti is fighting cotto is this:
1. Gatti has one more fight with HBO under his contract.
2. HBO being the best boxing network has a high standard of fighters, so gatti must choose the best oppent out of the top fighters so it looks like its cotto. After this Fight gatti will never fight again.
hbo has allowed its fighters on a number of occassions to take soft touches and not fight the top fighters.

Sure, why not. Gatti might as well get his ass-kicked one more time. Boxing has a proud tradition of fighters who stay around too long and get beaten up on by younger guys. Arturo is just a traditionalist....real "old school". He'll eventually quit; but he's going to have to be beaten up pretty bad a couple of times first to convince him he can't do it anymore.
oh yea, before the baldy fight, i remember. thats true. but hes small at 147.
gatti is not a small welterweight. it's more like baldomir is a thick, broad welterweight with a great chin and massive head.
jesus h. christ, this is suicide by cotto if gatti takes this fight. cotto was a huge jr welterweight and he would hydrate up to a super middleweight. gatti is too small for the welterweight division. too small, too old, and past his best days.
gatti was a huge junior welterweight too. the guy put up 19 lbs and weighed 160 for a fight scheduled at 141...back in 2000. cotto weighed 157 on fight night against corley.
they both put on a lot of weight. the 'small welterweight' thing is just hbo making an excuse for their boy gatti.
mayweather is a small welterweight. he weighed 149 on fight night last weekend. judah is fairly small welterweight who rarely puts on much weight after the weigh-in.
gatti weighed more on fight night back when he was a junior welter than many welterweights.
baltimore, martin o'malley country? yep, i think that's where b-more's @ son! WooHoo!
No wrong again Marty O'Malley is from Edmonds Washington...Im getting tired of carrying you.
Like we talked about in Baltimore, your the the Puerto Rican version of me and Im the white honky version of you...except at this point in my life I am only able to take 1 hitters as opposed to you who is much more in shape taking multiple hitters (I used to be the best but when you stop practicing it is damn tough).
baltimore, martin o'malley country? yep, i think that's where b-more's @ son! WooHoo!
if i was gatti at this point i would fight about 5 bums in the same year then retire, makes the record look good when hes gone, and hell go out a winner...
but....gatti is the king of all comebacks,he has shocked the world before with amazing wins that we never thought possible,so why not now?
im not sayin he will win,i do doubt it,but u know, why the fuck not?this is gatti were talkin about
The fact that Gatti can't take it to the body makes Cotto a heavy favorite.
Gatti does have the punch to hurt Cotto, though.
But if Floyd could hurt Gatti with a bodyshot, Miiguelito would fold him.
I'd still put my points on Gatti. I don't care who Cotto fights, I'll always bet against him.
