The reason the most recent list is better is that all the guys up there can beat or have beaten anyone from the old list. Cosme Rivera, for example, got smoked by Judah in 3 rounds. Estrada lost to Cintron, Gomez lost like 3 fights in a row. And like I said, it's not even including Hatton or Cotto...
On the old list, Gatti would be ranked 3rd for beating Daamgard. What a joke...
That list is years old. Years down the line. Some one will laugh at your list too. Out with the old, in with the new.
These are the current RING rankings:
Champion: Baldomir
1. Mayweather
2. Margarito
3. Judah
4. Collazo
5. Cintron
6. Urkal
7. Gatti
8. Williams
9. Quintana
10. Clottey
Mayweather hasn't done shit at welterweight.
Margarito the man to beat.
Judah has talent and on any night can lose, as he did agasint Baldomier.
Collazo good boxer just lost to a jr. welterweight.
Cintron not to long ago lost to Margarito.
Urkal an ex jr. welterweight who lost to Tszyu, why's he ranked?
Gatti why's he ranked?
Williams why's he ranked? A prospect.
Quintann beat another prospect, in other words Quintanna himself is still a prospect.
Clottey, was disqualified against Baldomier, even though Clottey was winning the fight.
That list is a hell of a lot better than those rankings that have Gomez in the top 5 and Rivera in the top 10. This list doesn't even included Hatton (whose last fight was at 147) and Cotto (who's next fight is at 147). The only guys who suck on that list are Urkal, Gatti, and Clottey. Not surprisingly, one of those three is Margarito's next opponent...
As i said, this list is no better then the list i have in my sig. If Baldomier wasn't fighting Mayweather you'd be talking mad shit.
If you know these fighters then you know what i know, that this list isn't anybetter. But! What this list does have is a lot of hyped fighters, which is good for boxing and makes boxing more interesting.
This screenshot hurts more than helps your argument. All it does is show that the welterweight division at this time was a total joke. There are only a couple of good fighters in the entire division at the time and this is the reason that Margarito moved up to 154 for Santos.
To tell you the truth the Welterweight division hardly any better then what it is right now. Except the differnce is more fighters in the welterweight division have hype. And to newbies like you, you translate famous, known as "a rule that, so and so fighter is good because he's on tv." Everybody will have to go through Margarito, if not they can't claim to be the best welterweight, simple as that.
When he couldn't cut it at 154 he had to move back to 147 and wait until finally the all the jr. welters moved up.
Is this exactly how you also feel about Bernard Hopkins?
Let's break it down:
-Judah: Total trash according to most Margarito fans, yet he was the undisputed champion at this time.
Yet, he refused to fight Margarito, as did the two Champions before him and look at who he beat and who he lost to.
-Margarito: Best of the worst.
AT the end Margarito is "The Last Man Standing" I just hope he stays at welterweight just as Hopkins did.
-Cory Spinks: Another guy everyone says sucks (I agree). Split two fights with Judah.
And Antonio Diaz took his "0" away from him, and Margarito later defeated Diaz for the WBO.
-Damgaard: He lost to a welterweight version of Gatti. The same welterweight Gatti that got destroyed by Baldomir. This guy getting ranked that high is a joke.
Email the Ring. I never said he was any good.
-Manuel Gomez: Who the hell did he beat to even get ranked this high?
He beat "El MAGO" an ex-lightweight reining Champion, who fought many top fighters, and fought Spinks after Gomez already defeated him. Gomez also defeated and KO'D the undefeated at the time Juntuah, the same fighter that Ouma went 12 rounds with, the same fighter that Abraham also went 12 rounds with, but only Gomez was able to KO' Jantuah.
-Cintron: Decent prospect that got exposed by Margarito.
But some how beat the tough and durable, David Estrada, but will lost to Mark Suarez. Margarito beating you equals exposed, ok, just remeber that if Mayweather ever steps into the ring with Margarito.
-Jawaid Khaliq: Who?
Email the Ring magazine.
-Baldomir: He was on the come up at this point and still racking up wins.
LOL! The way you put it. He's fighting Mayweather so you can't talk shit about him, even with all his loses.
-Cosme Rivera: This guy is as bad as Gomez. Seeing him in the top 10 just shows how sad welterweight was at this time.
You know nothing about this guy. Judah gets an excuse cause he has off nights, so does this guy.
-David Estrada: Has heart, but he is a C fighter at best.
He went 12 rounds with Mosley, gave Cintron hell, and he would have stepped in with Williams but Williams don't want to be tested to this degree yet.
-Lujan: Another guy who built up his record fighting bums oversea.
You mean like Baldomier, Julio, and others. Lujan gave Margarito a better fight then did Cintron.
This is the most pathetic top 10 I've ever seen in the history of boxing...
Truth be told -as i said- the crop of welterweights of today aint any better then the Ring fighters they rated. The only difference is they got hype and are on tv.
Just remember, "last man standing" will be Antonio Margarito.

so whats the reason for zab and tony not fighting? spinks...???:ugh:
because when your losing a lopsided desicion, your not setting anything up other than to pray and spray.
Come on man, i know you don't belive that....do you actually belive this?
Fighters train their asses off, wheather there loseing or winning and have to want to ko a fighter, 98 percent of boxers know how to set up a fighter with a ko punch.
Like I said, this happens in boxing. Just ask Otis Grant, or Billy Conn or Michael Warrick and the list goes one. Do you want to say these guys opponets sucked for knocking them out when they were winning?
Lucky punchs happen all the time in boxing, what im saying is, its a part of boxing. And though i have not seen the fight, how do you know he didn't set up that punch?

Yes & just as Black Jesus said that it was a homerun punch. He was getting beat pretty bad until that punch but his best were gone; especially in 2006. His best weight was Lightweight & even then he was limited.

Gomez was a dangerous opponet for Mosley, Mosley ko'd Gomez what in 12 rounds. Margarito did it in one.
You do know that Gomez beat the dangerous Jantuah right? Not only KO'D him but Gomez at the same time took away his 0. Gomez ko'd Jantuah while Ouma went the distance with him and now has him as his sparring partner. :owned:

Your not talking about Gomez, because he has never ever been seen close to the Ring Magazine Ratings.
Gomez is not a good fighter.
At all.

Who cares about training for a fight that already happened??
You wouldn't be saying this is it was a video about Mayweather.
I think that this thread would have been better titled "Margarito Training!" because training for gomez, i mean..its almost like "does even need to train for him?" because gomez sucks, its a nice video though because he has great work ethic in the gym, unlike Camacho Jr.
Oh and the Gomez/Jantuah fight that everyone raves about isnt so great after all, Gomez was getting his ass kicked and landed one of the luckiest homerun punches ive ever seen. Seriously, it was a fluke punch. He landed it, but the win was nothing short of that as his career has demonstrated.
Lucky punchs are a part of boxing........welcome to boxingscene.com
Dangerous at Lightweight in the 90's. Not 12 lbs north of his better weight in 2006. You're really reaching.

This is the same Gomez that was viciously KO'ed by Shane Mosely at Lightweight. I wouldn't call Gomez or any fighter a bum but he's definitely seen better days at a lower weight class.

I made this thread for Margarito fans but it seems like the haters came and tried to run things. The only nuthugger here is u. u r a joke.

In the video you posted even Margarito's camp isn't making excuses about losing to Santos at 154. They know he lost fair and square and weight is not an issue. Stop saying the Santos loss doesn't count. You and I both know Santos is the man who exposed the fraud named Margarito...
if exposed is losing on cuts before almost knocking santos out then i agree.
Fuck that Baldomirs better den Margarito,he may not have alot of boxing SKILLS but hes a good boxer and u have 2 respect him, instead of taking easy fights he's been going for the best,Zab,Gatti,Floyd,Margarito fights Gomez then Clottey,Baldomirs better
