I'm surprised no one has brought this up. When Jim Gray asked Corrales "What's next?" Corrales responded "This might be it for me."
I have talked shit about Corrales in the last 24 hours but if he retires then it is a very well deserved retirement after the last two years of his career.

Thats why I stated in that thread last week.......he better be planning on what he is going to do in the ring with Casamayor before he starts planning his 07 schedule and look what happened.Corrales=Self:owned:
I don;t think that he has a good shot at 147 but retire, I don't know.
If you thought that the Castillo fight was great, Imagine a GATTI V Corrales fight at 147.
That could be the greatest fight ever.
i see not many in here believe chico can win a significant fight at 140.....i dont remember him getting his head knocked off last night.....he lost a very close fight and now everyone thinks he's done.....ill bet anyone in here whatever they want that chico wins a strap at 140.....
Corrales doesn't have the chin to move up in weight really, all the 140 pound champions (including Hatton, still the lineal champ) have the dig to seriously hurt him. Hatton would give him a mauling, Witter and M'Baye would probably pick him off patiently, Urango might be vulnerable but has a lot of dig and a so far solid chin, Cotto would destroy him.
The choice for Corrales is retirement or being an also ran at a higher weight (he'd still be able to make some good money that way though).
No, he doesn't.
oh thats right Corrales' 5 extra pounds helped him KO Casamayor.
What a fucking cheater, had he not gone in overweight he wouldnt of koed Casa.
Damn, this just goes to show how many people didn't watch the interview, and how mic57 or whatever can't hear right. Corrales never said, "This might be it." Jim Gray asked him, "Whats next?" And before Corrales could answer Jim Gray cut him off and said, "I assume we've seen the end of you and 135." And then Corrales said, "Yea you've seen the end of me at 135. And as of right now its time to go home ----------- Then you can't understand a word he says after he says "HOME." Then Jim Gray asked, "Does that mean you're retiring?" And Corrales said, "I never said that. I simply said that its time for me to go home and think about what Im going to do." So he never hinted at retirement and he surely never ever said, "This might be it."
WRONG
he is a mumbler, and you obvioulsy have difficulty understanding him:
he said:
"Yea you've seen the end of me at 135.......
and as of right now its time to go home and decide if you've seen the end of me period.....i mean i don't know! emotional pause!
exact words....
if you don't believe me, i can upload an audio file!!!..

I wouldn't read too much into it. Right before that he stated that he was moving up. Obviously, I believe he will fight again. Tarver said he was going to retire after he got dominated. It is just their natural dissapointment, at that point you'll say anything.
I wouldn't be surprised if he retired. Remember not too long ago he said he would be done in another year or so.
