The reason why the weight made such a difference in castillo-corrales II, is because that was an inside fight. both fighters were landing huge shots, but castillo had five extra pounds of force to put behind his shots.
In CORRALES-CASAMAYOR III, there is gonna be more of a boxng match. Corrales will catch casamayor with some big shots early, but not often enough to get casamayor out early due to the weight issues.
im not saying corrales doesnt have a big advantage, because he most certainly does. All im saying is, this advantage wont make AS big a difference as it did in the castillo fight.
Not saying castillo's weight problems were worse, because i am equally disgusted in both fighters, but dont think this is gonna be a repeat of corrales-castillo II
How do you know Corrales drained himself more? Just because Corrales said he was only eating ice-chips? If you ask me, Castillo looked more out of it in the 3rd fight's weigh-in, and you act like Castillo came in at 143 or some shit for the 2nd fight, he came in at 138, so of course he drained himself.
STOP PUTTING WORDS IN MY MOUTH!!!! i even said IN MY POST THAT U QUOTED, that castillo drained himself a ton to make the weight!!! i just thought that corrales drained himself more. Castillo "looked dead" because he was upset and angry while corrales was estatic at first
Don't forget though:
I think it was obvious Castillo wasn't straining his body to make weight. He was smug about it, went away and came back heavier.
They've already said Corrales has been eating nothing but ice, and has been in the sauna for hours.
It's clear he's really tried to cut weight, and that can weaken him.
When Castillo did it he was stronger because he did the opposit and ate and drank gatoraid.
Exactly....
1. Castillo didnt drain himself nearly as much as carrales did for the fight. they both obviously drained themselves a lot, but not nearly as much as corrales did.
2.BUT HE DIDNT FIGHT FROM A DISTANCE. so my point is 100% justified. no fighter in the history of the sport would change their gameplane (which they had been working over a month on) the night before the fight.
3. It was cleary a weight issue during the rematch. When castillo landed, it was abundantly clear. Corrales's shots seems to have little affect because castillo was healthy and was feeling great. doesnt matter who weighed more, it matters who was more comfortable and who was stronger. both are CLEARLY with castillo

First of all Chico is a bitch.
Second of all, let me ask you, what do any of u really know aabout draining weight, for example which body types react better to draining weight better.
ITs tall and lanky with narrow bones type that react to the weight draining the best. I hope I dont need to explain why, and u got some commone sense.
Castillo's body type is one of the worst to drain weight from. He got big frame and broad bones, thus not as much muscle, thus its harder for him to drain weight.
Thats why I was always sceptical about all these exccuses for chico after the second fight and how he was dead because he drained himself harder.
Chico is one of the draining weight masters in the boxing. He knows every trick in the game on how to come out lighter.
HOW COULD U CALL ANY FIGHTER A BITCH FOR KILLING THEMSELVES TO MAKE WEIGHT FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMAINT???? you can lose respect for him as a fighter, but if u call him a bitch THEN U ARE THE BITCH!!!
and corrales ate ice for a week. if thats not a "trick" i dont what is. He tried a hell of a lot, his body wouldnt let him. I still fully blame him and as a fan, i have lost a lot of respect for him. BUt this is still only his first time, and hopefully he'll move up.
ANd its EQUALLY as hard for every fighter to lose the weight. EVERY fighter complains about how difficult it is and how impossible it is to get down in weight. It might be a TINY bit harder for castillo, but for corrales, WHO IS ALREADY SKIN AND BONES, ITs close to impossible to drop that much weight without gaining some serious health issues
^^ so do you give chico credit for that or d you criticize him for not making the adjustments he needed 2 make

And that is why evetybody forget why Corrales is a gret fighter.
In many fights there has not been a fighter win a fight on the other fighters gameplan expect Castillo-Corrales 1 and that is why is really exciting and nice and much talked about it with the drama at the end of the fight.
1. Castillo was 147 Corrales was 149 come fight time in the re-match
2. Your point about it being such a inside fight is poorly justified, Corrales could have boxed from a distance and used his jab had he chosed o but didnt
3. Its obvious even as a big Castillo fan that in the re-match he had tried to make weight but maybe a few days before it realised he couldnt and made his main focus on winning the fight
Blame Corrales for losin the re-match not JLC

I give credit for beating those guys but also I critize for not making the wieght.
you gotta be fair with both sides.
As castillo is concern he didnt make the weight twice with Corrales as well as with Reyes. So in the Reyes fight he should have had some buld above his head and say okay lets fight at 147 or 140 for Corrales.
another thing is sometime is not the fighter choose to fight because yougot fan, promoters and people who demand to see the fight right now so its a bit more complicated that what most people think it is.
What if Corrales didnt want to fight Casamayor til he ha some adjustment and see what his body can take, fan would be calling him a coward in both hand as well as his reputation as a fighter will fall down. He took Castillo first time so he could build his reputation so now I think he should win this fight or it would be down to the drain for Corrales boxing career as for Castillo he just got 1 year suspension in Las Vegas and he is fighting someone that time as some rumors say from boxrec in mexicio. But now I understand why Castillo didnt make the wieght. in the second fight as well as Corrales post-interview of the second fight he didnt try to bring the wieght isssue to Larry Merchent.
Most of use just see thing one one side of the story and those are guy like Street fighters you choose a player and both fight. It doesnt work that way in boxing there is many people and procendures invovle.
I was going to change my prediction about the outcome of the fight ( I had Corrales by UD).But f%ck it I'll stick to my prediction. But all this struggling to make weight is going to kill him, especially in later rounds and against a tricky southpaw like Casa. But, Casa is past his prime. Let's see if he takes advantage of this.
You gotta give Chico credit for his career.
He outboxed a boxer {Casamayor}, outpunched a puncher {Freitas}and outbrawl a brawler Castillo.
He fought Castillo's fight and won him the first time even though he was part lucky.
In the 3rd bought Castillo could have won Corrales because Corrales was fighting Castillo fight. Even in the second fight where Castillo came overweight Corrales still fought a Castillo fight instead of trying to box him and use the space for his punchs.
There is a rule both fighter didnt make the rule its upto the other fighter to consider the fight.
For example Pac-Morales where Morales wanted pac to fight up in weight but he insisted on super FW. Its take or leave it.
but on the other hand its a sport where there is courge issue where fans control it. For example when Casamayor called out Corrales after his win and Corrales refused most people said Corrales is a puss and that is the reason why he took the fight. As for Castillo is the same there is so much pressure in in the 3rd fight that is hard to say no and disappoint his fans and lose reputation as a fighter.
Its better to fail at wieght-in trying to fight than to be called a sacred and ducked.
Actually if I remember correctly on fight day Corrales weighed more or the same as castillo since castillo was restricted to weign in a certain weight on the day of the fight. So there were no additional 5 pounds of force/momentum you speak of.
The difference in that second fight were Castillo's adjustments, he put distance between him and the taller and physically stronger corrales (at no point could castillo in the first fight or second fight push corrales back) more in the second fight, as a result corrales missed more and castillo nailed him for nearly every mistake he made.
Good post, but i don't aggrre that Corrales is strong then Castillo, as you said, its simpley that Castillo adjusted more and gave some angle.

i definately do. im friends with a boxing photographer for one of these internet sites, and he was there for the weigh in for Corrales/Castillo II. he was telling me how he spoke with Castillo's people after the weigh in, and to sum it up, castillo's people told him they didnt give a fuck about making weight they just wanted to KO corrales, they went upstairs and ate dinner, thats why he weighed in MORE when he tried again.
You need to back those claims up with more than just being a friend of a boxing photographer.
No you don't.

It's so dumb wrecking yourself to make weight, your jaded when you enter the ring and get dehydrated after about six rounds, no matter how much water you try to get down you between the weigh-in and fight.

That's bullshit. Goossen and Shaw have gone on the record several times, including videos on this very site that Castillo looked like a dead man, that his eyes and ribs were popping out of his body, that he was barely able to stand, that he looked sick. Castillo did all he could to make weight, he couldnt do it.
Overall, the big picture is that Castillo is a cheater, Corrales coming in 5 pounds heavier isnt really gonna benifit him, as it would Castillo. Castillo has a long track record behind him too, not only with his weight issuse..
You didn't want to hear Castillo make excuses so don't try to make excuses for Corrales.
Utter bullshit about Castillo being smug and not trying. What do any of you know about him not trying to make weight? I sure as hell saw him half dead laying down on the floor as depleted as you can be. After all he's talked about it, now Corrales should get just as much blame and flak from the fans and press. Is he a coward now? All the Corrales bandwagin jumpers that said that Castillo was trying to get out of fighting Corrales a third time, so I guess that goes the same for your boy now against Casamayor in EXACTLY the same scenario.
I say again, this is so ironic it's beautiful.
i know for a fact that Castillo didn't even try to make weight for the 2nd fight, and he just wanted the KO victory.
