I thought Barrios clearly won the fight, he was throwing 4-5 punches at a time and while most weren't landing some were getting through. Guzman is a poser, he just moves around the ring throwing 1 punch at a time or gets on the ropes and throws a bunch of bitch slaps. I'm probably the only one from what iv'e read on here but did ne1 else see this?
That said Guzman is a hell of a fighter. I didn't think he did enough but his handspeed is amazing and nothing Barrios threw at him fazed him one bit. He's too left hook happy though, needs to throw the jab out there a bit more.
Oh yeah, and the low blow deduction was bs!!!
Its important to watch a fight objectively and not get caught up in the few brawls here and there to swa you. A fight is judged round by round. A fighter can win 7 rounds clearly and look horrible in the 5 remaining (getting caught and stunned) and still win.

Barrios high punching activity made it a close one, but the harder, cleaner shots came from Joan.
just seen the fight now ...
I am not a fan of both fighter so I have no bias here but IMHO the fight was closer than what is being said ...
its true that Guzman was the better boxer and more accurate puncher, but at times he was too busy trying to LOOK GOOD rather the fight making the fight a lot closer in my eyes ...
this was my attempt to score the fight ...
I gave both guys 6 rounds each, now I know why judges receive so much sh_t from fans ... lol

I had the same score.
Yeah, I had Barrios winning 4 possibly 5 rounds at the most. Guzman won much more comfortably than I think the score cards indicate. I'm still amazed that 1 guy gave it to Barrios.
All the judges were off because if it wasn't for the point deduction they would've had the fight as a draw.

Anyone who thought Barrios won that fight was obviously starved of oxygen at birth.
It was a boxing lesson from Guzman. Barrios was completely outclassed. Didn't have a clue.
Doesn't surprise me as he didn't prepare for the fight properly and was 3 pounds over at the weigh in. How a boxer can let that happen in a World title fight is beyond me.
I have no respect for anything anyone has to say if they think Barrios won that fight. They're clearly brain damaged.
Just because people don't agree with you doesn't mean they are biased. I am not a fan of either fighter yet i scored it for Barrios. Colonel Bob Sheridan who is one of the most neutral commentators around scored it for Barrios also.
all i can say forest hill buddy, is download the fight and watch it...i mean watch it as if you were a referee....meaning, are the punches connecting, are punches missing, is the fighter defending well, moving, etc.........it was obvious from the first minute that whenever guzman wanted to, he'd outclass and outbox barrios...........
you can chase all day and loook aggressive, but if it's not affective, its pointless!!!...and guzman, he is another kostya tszyu in the making....his 300 amateur fights really showed in this fight...the way he would move and glance barrios' punching was nothing short of amazing!
it was a fight where i am 100% sure that wouldn't even be worth having a rematch!...
believe me, you are very very bias if you scored the fight that way...no offence or anything, but i am very neutral on this fight and too me, it was a case of guzman being far the superior ...i mean, whenever he really wanted to, he'd outbox barrios!!..
you can score the fight how you want, but i can't see barrios winning any more than 4 rounds...

another thing to point out is Guzman was rolling with a lot of Barrios shots. I thought this fight was closer than people are saying though, I think I scored it 8-4 or 7-5 for Guzman i dont really remember, i need to watch it again.
i scored the fight 115-113 for barrios coz he's the aggressor and eventhough some punches didn't land well, i still gave him the rounds.

For me, Barrios clearly won the fight but the judges may have a better view and I maybe bias. The first round was the best round of the fight and joan got the upper hand but the rest of the bout imo was dominated by barrios.
barrois and the heart to win the fight he was just throwing it wildly and was very inaccurate. joan had got the speed going but he doesnt have the killer instinct in him tonight. either way im disappointed no on was KOed
i disaggree guzman showed some fire at times, but then he goes back to posing and counter punching. he came out hell of strong.

Barrios threw a lot, but imo they didnt' have enough stem on them and to me it seemed everytime barrios threw somthing guzman came back with somthing more then barrios.
And don't forget the clean, i mean clean punchs barrios took. Barrios was taken many punchs and his punchs weren't as effective.
And i thought guzman stunned barrios a few times, though i think it was in the championship rounds were i felt barrios stunned guzman. It was a hell of a fight.
Barrios was never rocked. The commentators on HBO international scored it clearly for Barrios to.
mate from melbourne......i'm no guzman fan and I would have preferred barrios win......but as i said, he was nowhere near winning that fight...the rounds he won, were pretty much the rounds which guzman let him win!....guzman shows off a lot and sometimes loses rounds in doing so!
ps...read my other post on hbo commentators!!
