The power is good, probably is as good as Rahman's power, but I don't see any basis for claiming that Peter has a special edge over Rahman in that department. His pure KO wins were over D level opposition. He won't ever KO a legit top 10 HW (not from my list, lol:-).
Yeah, Peter was bleeding and everything. He also looked like he was going to get Knocked down (peter) at one time in the fight but he held on.
Seriously, the mere fact that James actually had Peter reeling at one point speaks volumes about who won
James Toney's.. any idiot can watch the fight and see this..

Peter is the hardest puncher in the division, and Toney has hands down the best chin in the division. Brewster would have been knocked out by by Peter's punches.
wlad is a much better knockout puncher than peter. his punches are much quicker and straighter and thrown with more leverage as his fight with shufford demonstrated. peter couldnt put him down when he hit him,,,,wlad did. I also think brewster is a better knockout puncher as well. more snap in his shots. peter is # 3 in the punching department in my opinion. he may be the physically strongest but not the best punching heavyweight

I agree that his power was overrated but he hits much harder than rahman as he demonstrated last night. he hurt toney badly whereas rahman barely made him flinch. you can just see the strength difference in there delivery. peter is heavier handed and throws all his weight into his shots whereas rahman is more of an arm puncher. of course rahman has a much better jab and is busier which explained his success against toney whereas peter's success was soley on his physical strength and power
I give Peter credit he did stun James a couple times. But he never knocked him down and I thought Toney landed more punches. Ecspecially the jab, Toney had that going the whole night.
but whose punches were more effective?

toney had a great chin for a middleweight but for a heavyweight he has an average punch if peter was the massive puncher everyone thinks that he is . He would of being able to put peter on the deck . He couldnt even put Wald on the deck legally and wald has a glass chin . peter is a hard puncher but he is not the hardest puncher in the divsion .
i think peter is as strong as advertised, he hit james with some serious right hands, any other HW would have folded especially klitschko. i dont think peters power is overated as much as toneys heart and chin are UNDERrated
Props to Toney. A natural super middle, blown up cruiser (however you see it ) went 12 rounds with a "so called" top 3 heavy who is regarded as one of the hardest punchers today.
first time I've ever seen James look hurt, not saying he was
he took peter's shots better than klitchko did. if james was going to look hurt against someone, this would be the guy, considering he 's probably the hardest hitter in the division. those of you saying his power is overrated, remember tyson didn't ko all of the opponents he beat, sometimes you can't utilize it as well as other times because of the differing opponents.
Hell naw it isnt overrated. Toney is just out of this world. He took flush shots and smiled.
Underrated meaning people thought Toney would get knocked out but somehow didn't realize that he has the skills and chin to stand up to even the hardest of punchers.
Peter has POWER he just doesnt UTILIZE it and thats what makes a GREAT KO ARTIST, had he been a pure boxer with his punching power he would be GREAT, but since his not that, he will still be GREAT in the HW divison and with the oppostion he faces today! NOONE except KLIT matches up to what he faced today and even with that KLIT isnt the boxer TONEY is and thus can be KD 3 times!
What about George the animal steel ? I think he will have a hard time land with his reach and this may also be the only fighter he can not over power physically.

As long as fighters don't panic when their in their with Peters i don't see why other heavyweights wouldn't be able to go with Peters.
