I must give Taylor a hand for being a pretty classy guy. I didn't catch his post fight interview last night, but I saw it today and he was very level headed about the fight. I liked what he had to say.
He fought a hard fight and did his best against a tough-for-anyone opponent in Wright. Even though I had winky winning 7-4-1 (best case Taylor won 5 rounds) Taylor still gave a pretty good account of himself.
So Taylor gets some respect for me. Once he starts to win his fights more convincingly and steps out of this shady decision circle I (and his detractors in general) will give him more love.
A few other comments:
-Theres no way Taylor won the 12th.
-Chuck Giampa looks like a giant queer
-I wish someone could create a highlight reel showing every missed punch that Taylor threw...and then the ensuing comments made by Jim Lampley insisting that he busted up Wright with a savage combo.
-A funny moment was in the 7th when Taylor landed some good shots and Lampley fliiped out like, "Wright is BADLY BADLY HURT!!!!" and then Wright proceeds to land about 5-6 unanswered shots on Taylor.
No one got the nod. One judge saw it for Wright, one saw it for Taylor, and one saw it even...much like the opinions we see on this board. Some think Taylor won it close, some think Wright won it close, and others feel it was rightfully a draw.
There was no unfair treatment or politics in Taylor's favor. It was just a close fight where as a judge you have to decide: Which rounds were Taylor's harder punches the deciding factor, and in which rounds was Wright's higher output the deciding factor?
Not really his higher output, but his cleaner punches that landed more often. Taylor threw more I believe.
Heres something interesting:

Just something to look at.

Why do i keep hearing wright lost the 12th? neither of them fought, how could anyone have lost it. if no one fought in the 12th, judge it until the 11th,and what do you have? probably Winky ahead not by alot but slight UD. but Jermaine gets more "nods" than a Jigga concert!!
WRONG.
Taylor admitted no such thing.
He said he thought he had the edge, but the draw was fair.
At no point in time did Taylor say he lost the fight.
You are delusional.
WRONG.

He said he thought he had the edge, but the draw was fair.[/QUOTEyes he did on the hbo interview he said "he was winning the fight" meaning until the 12th, its about to come on again, jeff lacy and mayweather also thought winky clearly won the fight
I don't know about that.
Momentarily stunned because of the actual punch maybe.
Yeah, Winky's guard was great.
I never saw either fighter rocked or hurt in any sense.
newsflash taylor admitted he lost the fight in the interview, he said wright was winning the fight until the 11th and why wouldnt he fight in the 12th like th first 11 rounds, but the only punches landed at all in the 12th were jabs from wright, also he said he never had winky hurt,
Is jermaine your boyfriend?
WRONG.

I think Taylor won a close fight, he landed the best punches and had Winky hurt a few times. And yeah, Winky doesn't want a rematch? lol...

I hate how Taylor fights.
He looks style looks so amateurish and ugly.
That fact that he gets away with it makes me hate it even more.
Atleast with Roy Jones Jr. the style looked so fluid and shit. Taylor looks like he doesn't know what he's doing at times.
If he didn't have such a good attitude, I'd own him more, but I'm starting to feel bad now.
VIVA LA WINKY!
Wright did absolutely nothing emphatic in the 12th round, therefore it is pretty absurd to say there's 'no way' Taylor won the 12th. Wright can blame himself if he wants to blame anyone for losing that last round on anyone's card.
I have alot of respect for Taylor aswell, i thought he was going to get blown away, i do felt Winky should have won the fight, and i think cearly aswell, but oh well...
No he did'nt win the 12th round, now please get over it already. if Gay Cockins gave Winky the last round, while the the two other judges and most people including Lennox Lewis (Who was rooting for Winky and favouring him all the time) felt that Taylor won it.
who are most people?
Excellent post my friend! The draw was the best decision.
Taylor fans are saying a draw is the best decision and Winky fans are saying Wright got robbed, see the difference. Nobody felt that Taylor did enough to win the fight but on the other hand Winky did.
The keywords are "he felt he had already won". That doesn't mean he won or was winning the fight. He should of definitely taken the risk in the 12th round. This was a close fight and he knew it was a close fight so he should of done everything possible to get the win in the 12th round of a close fight. This wasn't like the Mosley or Trinidad fight where he clearly dominated and could celebrate a victory.
I can't have any sympathy for Wright because I feel he basically gave the fight away.
The thing I don't understand is everyone is saying Wright should have taken a risk to win the last round, but I didn't see Taylor taking any risks in the last round. Taylor was backing up for the first two minutes of that round, and he wasn't throwing punches. Winky was landing jabs, backing Taylor up, and stepping out of range or moving to the side when Taylor occassionally decided to throw something. The only time Winky backed up in that round was the last 20 seconds. I don't see that as running, I see that as good boxing. Taylor did nothing, so why should win that round? I'd like to hear one good argument why Taylor should have won the last round. I'd like to hear one positive thing he did in that round to make the case, not an argument based on what Winky didn't do.
Well of course he wants to go and knock him out but he felt he had already won it, so why take the risk>? He said that shit after the fight (this isn't my opinion)..."they say I gave away the 12th round, but what did Taylor do? Nothing....so why does he win?"
It is pretty tough to understand.

Am I the only one that thinks, Taylor lost his last 3 fights? 3 gift decisons in a row. Taylor is a good fighter but he's a step below Hopkins and Wright.
He did all that but he's been a professional for a long time and he knows that he was basically in Taylor's hometown. He should of known that you can't win a fight that way.
