Ok we know, the fight was a draw, exactly how I scored it. The thing is though. He has two close wins over Hopkins and a draw with Winky Wright (to say that was a robbery is a joke, theres no robbery without a "clear" winner). Anyhow, I want peoples opinions on Taylor, you can say he got a gift decision in those fights yada yada, but the fact remains. For a green, raw, "amateurish" as dan birmingham said fighter..... he beat one of the greast middles of all time, and drew with as everyone on here said, the P4P top 2, master boxer, would beat anyone hes invincible Wright. So Even though he didnt dominate these guys he beat one twice, and drew with the other. Mainly what im getting at is, can you still say Taylor is raw, green and some of you dont even think hes good. Whats that say for your opinion of Wright and Hopkins then? That would put them in the same boat no? Just curious and looking for real feedback, not flames please. :boxing:
What are ya talking about. Taylor has time to improve. Winky ain't a easy guy to beat. It was a very close fight. As much as i hate Draws i could accept it..
This wasn't no gift decison.
I have lots of respect for Taylor fighting with 1 eye closed and taking this fight as opposed to taking a lesser tuneup first. He gave Winky and Hopkins credit, I thought Winky did win a close fight and Taylor didn't do much in the final round either. I'm fully convinced that JT is the "future" if there was any doubt prior to tonight IMO.

What funny is hearing people miss use the work green, as if they know what the hell they're talking about.
i thought taylor was gassed after 4 rounds and got his second wind around the 7 th, same with winky but i forget which round it was he got his second wind.
to me taylor has to move up to super middlweight, or starve himself and be a vegatarien as hopkins was and did.
taylor had the fight, but he couldn't finish as strong as i thought he'd be able too, everytime he let his hands go he stunned winky, he had him stunned about 3 times, but didn't have the condition to follow through or can't recognize when his opponet is hurt. winky won't be the same after this beating he took at the hands of taylor, taylor could have knocked out winky but didn't have the wind and didn't have the sence to know when his opponet was hurt.
Fernando Vargas i feel pushed more then Taylor did in the last rounds but Taylor seems to hit harder. Jermain didn't use his jab enough. But i still had Taylor winning.
And where the hell was Taylors over-hand right? That was a great punch he used to have and it was completly absent, an error by steward
when taylor sees this fight he will see he could have tko'd winky, and will only improve
It was a draw, but based on the post fight interviews,it felt like he walked out the bigger man
Taylor:I'll fight anybody at anytime
Wright:I don't want no rematch
Yeah, that was a bitch move by Wright.
My opinion of him changed drastically.
I wasn't aware that he had this kind of heart. there were times that he just laid on the ropes and absorbed clean shots over and over, and no avail.
It's not like Wink punches hard, but he punches. And Taylor was getting hit, and getting hit often.
I was impressed with his ability to stay sharp with his power punching attempts so late in the fight.
Yes, I think he's alot better of a fighter than I previously thought. I never gave him credit.....because he never really beat anyone in my book, but this draw was more impressive than anything I've ever seen from him.
I second this.
Hes only getting better, so the fact that hes getting wins and raws against great fighters isnt hurting him. I have no idea why he kept backing himself into the ropes though. Either way if they were to fight again Im sure Winky would try to stick and move more. His cover up defense was not very effective. Taylor was getting through the defense a lot.

How can you not be impressed after tonight?
He kept his hands down all night, his back was against the ropes about half the entire fight, and very lazy with his jab
The fact is Taylor has gon back to back to back against possibly the two baddest technichal and defensive fighters in the sport, and for him to win 2 of the 3 and draw the third, it shows alot! The guy is only 27 and has only 26 fights under his belt and is the UNDISPUTED CHAMP, i dont care what anyone says but Winky didnt win the fight tonight and Taylor sureley didnt lose it, but a draw is very reasonable, I believe however that if Taylor keeps improving and keeps the "ill fight anybody i dont care" attitude will fair very well in the MW division! He however shouldnt take a fight with Calzaghe until 2007 or 8 and if and when he does rematch Winky should come out aggressive and realize that the man cant hurt him! Also he should think about fighting a few bums wit E-Steward in his corner or go back to Pat Burns becuz i didnt think he looked as good as he could have!
i agree with the post above, how can he still be green after making winkys face look the way it did, what a fight
Winky's face looked like that because of headbutts just like Taylor's faced looked.

i dont consider him the MW champion anymore.
his first fight with hopkins was too close.
he barely won the 2nd won.
and he draws with winky.
this guy IMO doesnt belong on the p4p rankings. hes too green, too raw, and lacks the experience to be an effective champion.
This is what I mean though with your response. If he doesnt deserve the Championship who does? Drawing with Winky makes him bad? If winky is P4P number 2 a draw isnt a loss correct? He won too very close with Bernard but beat him, whats that say for Bernard having lost to a green, amateurish fighter? Thats the main thing im looking at. I hear alot of taylor doesn't deserve the titles, hes not any good, but winning twice with an ATG, and drawing with arguably the only other superior guy in the division, who are you saying deserves them? Winky who drew with a green fighter? Or Hopkins who lost to the green fighter? Or some other guy, like sturm or arthur?
I think Taylor could be in real trouble if he fights an opponent with an unorthodox style and quickness. Taylor's low hands with his chin out could easily get hit with some quick counters of a pure boxer.
I still think he lost to B-Hop but now he will only get better. I'm still worried about his chin but only time will tell. Good skills all in all and he'll make a good career out of boxing, hell, he's only 28.
