Was thinking to myself last night how Winky hasnt shown power and real offense in over 2 years. He couldnt even knock out fighters who he totally dominated, like Tito Trinidad. The last time this was barely even shown was when he got his first win agaisnt Sugar Shane Mosely. But against Mosely, Trinidad, and Soliman he did the same thing over and over (the roach defense), putting both hands in front of his face elbows bent. Yes, this worked and gave him his W's , but is this really gonna work against Jermaine Taylor who is gonna come out him with full force and who has just as much power as P4P Winky Wright. I mean Winky can defend all he wants but if he doesnt throw power shots and consistent jabs, Jermaine is just gonna eat him up. I only bring this up, cause i wondered to myself if Wright has the speed and stamina to keep up with the fast paced Taylor. Wright hasnt shown real strong offense in forever. He even looked sloppy and tired against Solimon, tiring out and not being able to knock out the smaller fighter. Not chosing sides, simply noting. What do u all make of this? Explain

I think Jermaine wins by split decision. I don't expect any sort of dominance though. Winky might do something to influence one judge in the fight to score for him.
lol, just can't wait to get in here on June 18th and read all the excuses for Taylor when he loses.. honestly, it's going to be embarrassing, Taylor's the one with the flaws and he'll be exposed to the fullest June 17th..
if that's true it'll be a good fight

... it would have been more impressive for winky to not have ducke kassim ouma when ouma was his number 1 mandatory contender. but didn't want to fight him, this win would have been greater then a second fight with mosley, especially since he already dominated mosley in their first fight.
TRUE TURE, I SEE you know your stuff but at this point Sugar Shane was coming off big victories and was ranked #1 jr. middleweight at this point(having held titles) yet Winky still dominated twice. :boxing:
better opposition throughout his career. Wright is only ahead basically because Taylor is still so green and new to the game.
fukin exactly
Taylor is probably better than Wright, but Wright beat the better opposition throughout his career. Wright is only ahead basically because Taylor is still so green and new to the game. Give Taylor another two years and he'll still have the #2 spot. Him and Mayweather will be right there at #1 and #2 for years in my opinion.
i can see how u make that argument , but wright won his fight in unanimous decision fashion , where as Taylors wins were toss ups that he both won.....
mosley is no jr. middleweight, hes lucky to get both decicions one against delahoya the other against vargas, it would have been more impressive for winky to not have ducke kassim ouma when ouma was his number 1 mandatory contender. but didn't want to fight him, this win would have been greater then a second fight with mosley, especially since he already dominated mosley in their first fight.
i just think having winky ahead of taylor is ridicules, taylors wins over hopkins are better then winkys win over mosley and past prime trinidad and soliman

Ferocity, how can you claim Wright isn't the 2nd best p4p in the sport right now? You don't have to like him, but p4p isn't based on who's exciting or who you like most. It's about WINS.
This fight is so important because it is between two top 5 p4p fighters, and the winner seals the #2 spot behind Mayweather. If you don't have Wright as #2, I'd love to know who else you have up there. I don't think the top 5 is debatable.
1. Mayweather
2. Wright
3. Pacquiao
4. Taylor
5. Hatton
And that's pretty solid. Who cares if they don't look stellar in their most recent outing. The point is they keep winning against big name opposition.
i'll say from your list this is how i see it
i don't have a p4p list i usally go from rings p4p list, and either aggree or disaggree, i just think having winky ahead of taylor is ridicules, taylors wins over hopkins are better then winkys win over mosley and past prime trinidad and soliman

Winky is right handed but fights south-paw, correct? He doesn't throw big power shots, but his jab, being his strong arm, is actually a pretty good weapon. I wouldn't say he has a Larry Holmes jab, but his jab hurts for sure. I dunno if that will be enough to keep Taylor away from him. Taylor had trouble with Hopkins because Hopkins is crafty and he didn't know what punches would be coming. Wright isn't quite as crafty a puncher, and Taylor can expect that jab to be in his face all night. I think he'll be far less reserved in his attack, because he'll know more of what to expect from Wright. Whether he can effectively get through Wright's defense is a different matter. This fight is a toss-up for me.
i think alot depends on wether jermaine will actually have "bad intentions" when the bell rings
or if he will be timid like and tuck his tail between his legs
imo taylor won't give winky the respect he gave b-hop
and the training with steward will mentally and physically prepare him
look for him to come into his own and utilize his strengths
taylor takes it
damn...im going to lose a lot of points and cash...ALL BECAUSE OF YOU!
im telling you friend that taylor will defeat winky, don't be fooled by winky, he couldn't beat up a young vargas, he ain't beating up a young taylor. taylors style doesn't allow himself to be beat by winkys peek a boo style. :boxing:
please dont spoil the fun, whenever u say something the opposite happens, i hope u understand im not flaming but its true, like juarez over barrera, morales over pacquiao...etc etc... :)
im saying this as i really hope taylor beats him and im confident...and this is a friendly message
lol, im positive and confident of a taylor victory, taylor by tko!
Most experts are picking Taylor and for good reason. I checked out the most recent issue of either Boxing Insider or The Ring Magazine and like 6 out of 7 experts picked Taylor. I think Taylor wins a decision, but it won't be a blowout or anything, just a clear cut decision.
