Call me a hater whatever I don't care I absolutly hate this man. It seems like everytime he fights he's bitching an moaning about something, respect this respect that blah blah blah. He should be thanking guys like RJJ and BHop for giving him a good payday instead of bitching about what side his face is shown on tv. I won't get the fight but I hope BHOP knocks his ass out.
Barrera is on eof my favorites...
good example of ring age is fernando vargas. he's 28 and spent
but the other night I noticed even though he is only 32 he is really 40 in boxing years from all the WARS he has been in and the shots he has taken...same thing?
On the interview of Tarver and Hopkins by Jim Lampley on the MAB-Juarez fight, Tarver is saying he doens't get the respect he deserve because he has to share a split screen with Hopkins. I rooting for Hopkins so that arrogant Tarver mouth gets shut.
Tarver, calling himself "the legend killer", more like "the over da hill killer". Tarver should challenged Thomas "Hitman" Hearns since the Hitman not completely retired yet, winning the last 2 fights via TKO.
Good post! That split screen thing was ridicolous.
Taver would....

enilate Tommy now. I went to Tommy's last two fights, and I have to say... yes he is still Tommy Hearns and he could knock out the average man in a blink, but he no longer has even the remotest chance of beating Tarver.
I agree. I don't hate Tarver but I can understand why he can annoy many people. He beat the top in Lightheavy weight and I give him his props for that. I don't blame the guy for trying to cash in on his short glory of beating Jones. There are few people he could make money with in that weight unless he moves up or someone else moves up to fight him and he is taking on the be$t challenge available.
but he killed THE LEGEND Roy Jones who was the best p4p in the 90s
Every great fighter loses eventually. Tarver deserves to be recognized as the #1 Light heavy right now, and that's it. He wants to be known as a great fighter in the sport, but he doesn't realize he has to earn that. If he wants that, he's gonna have to fight more people than Roy Jones and Glenn Johnson.
Good post.... whoever thought you'd hear Hopkins sound more intelligent and logical than his opponent in pre-fight coverage? That might be a first.
He isn't stupid, he also sounded better than Tarver on the Steven A Smith show. The man is a prize fighter though, he was trying to make it and become a champion after prison, not graduate with a degree in englsh lol.
Tarver is really annoying. I can't respect him as a boxer. He's no legend killer as he likes to say, because he only "killed" one legend ... if that's what it takes to get labelled a legend killer, there are hundreds of legend killers in boxing history, so it's not all that special. He's a good fighter, because he hasn't done enough to go down as an all time great. I really hope Hopkins beats him with a great performance. I have a hundred-fold more respect for Hopkins then I do for Tarver. Tarver wants people's respect, but he's never going to get it by whining like an idiot, complaining which side of a split screen he's on ... what a joke.

According to Bernard, Tarver will be fighting for a long time if he's gonna reach legend status. Tarver I'm pretty sure is 37. He hasn't beat anyone too great(besides RJJ who is finished and Glen Johnson).I hope Bernard doesn't play around and be stupid and not start fighting until the 8th or 9th round.
Tarver needs to stop bitching, but Bernard was doing that after he lost to Taylor the first time. Either way, I want Bernard to win and finish his career on a good note.
The fact that all of you hate Tarver so much that you would pay to watch Bernard Hopkins (!?!?!?!?!?!) fight him in the hopes of shutting his mouth means Tarver is winning. You are all playing right into the man's hands. :D
I can promise you, unequivocally, that I will NOT be paying for that fight.
I may casually scan the headlines the next day to see who won, but I won't be in any rush to do so.

Mechslave I admit he does talk alot but if you really think about it he got his career defining fight by doing just that. He doesn't have the most fan's so he's talking to get people to watch even if it's just to hate him. Basicly I'm saying I feel what your saying but know that he's pretty intelligent and well spoken and Hopkins isn't so washed up that it's a garuantee. It's not like this is the only fighter who says 1 thing and does the other it's the sport, kinda like how Hatton said Collazo could get another fight but he know's he'll make more money with a bigger name and take that route. Nobody's calling him a hypocrite or Oscar/ Sterm
Exactly what I said, more power to him if he wants to make money. But don't cry about "respect" and all that bullshit. He's a hypocrite. He whined about Roy not giving him his shot and as soon as he got in that spot he doesn't want to give any of the other top LHW's a shot. He just wants $$$ against losers.
I'm happy for him, everyone knows he's older and is only about $$$, but he doesn't need to cry about respect, because that's a joke and is just hypocrisy. Be happy you can make some big money fights and do it while you can, but STFU about respect already. He knows what he could do to get respect and what he could do to make $$. He's choosing $$.
Good point gunstar I tried to make the same point earlier in this thread, I know I would if I was pushing forty and not financially stable for life. He started fighting late and he had to get big money fight's for the rest of his career after that while he still can. That seems smart to me and I'd like to see how many ppl wouldn't try to secure their future if in the same situation.
Because Tarver doesn't fight the best. He fights for $$. He should be making fights with Adamek, Briggs, Erdei, etc. All of whom want to fight him, but he's busy chasing dollars and losers... Hopkins, Tyson, et.
Tarver bitched like a bitch about not getting his shot, about Roy not fighting him, and as soon as he gets in Roy's old spot what does he do? Refuse to fight the best. Hey, he's making money, so more power to him, but don't look for respect from the sport when you chase dollars and losers.
I scored the first fight a draw, second fight needed no scoring. Third fight I was right on the money, 9 rounds to 3 Tarver, clearly the better man between the two of them.
