ray Mancini Thinks Highyly Of Floyd Mayweateher And Yet, He Belive Margarito Could Beat Mayweather.
Mancini An Ex-world Champion, A Fan Of Boxing, A Student Of Boxing, Knows What He's Talking About.
Styles Make Fights. Cotto Tried To Outbox Marg, but Cotto Isnt A Boxer. He Cant Stay On His Feet All Night. Floyd Spars 15 Minute Rounds With New Sparring Partners Coming In Every Few Minutes To Increase His Stamina. Floyd Wouldnt Have Got Tired Like Cotto Did, And He Definetly Wouldnt Have Got Hit With Those Shots That Cotto Did.
I would pick Floyd all day long i would.
Marg is my boy and all but Floyd is the Truth!
Marg got pot shotted at times and when Cotto gave him angles he didnt have
much of an answer
I give fuckin major props to Marg for bursting Cotto's bubble
but i aint seen something in him that leads me to believe he'd beat Floyd
ray mancini said, he thinks the only fighter that can defeat floyd mayweather is "ANTONIO MARGARTIO!"
Tell Ray Ray to shut up and sit down somewhere...everyone knows Pretty Boy will retire unbeaten...
Ray Mancini and 12 rounds. That's how Boom Boom is remembered by many of those who have been into boxing for some time (as fan and as one truly involved with the sport).
In Nov. 1982, in Las Vegas, Ray Mancini faced Deu Koo Kim in his second title defense of the WBA Lightweight crown. Mancini mauled the obviously inferior Kim who was on his 20th pro fight, going in with a record of 17-1-1.
Less than a week later Kim died of injuries suffered from the fight. A few months later his mother committed suicide and so did the referee Richard Greene.
In the meantime, the mandatory length of world championship fights was reduced to 12 from the former 15 rounds as direct result of the incident. The WBC did it first and the WBA soon followed. Majority of regional and national championships were already at 12.
Mancini was a popular fighter though old-timers shall find it difficult to remember any fight where his face did not bleed.
Was he any good? Not good enough to beat Arguello but good enough to wrest the WBA crown from the very respectable Arturo Frias in the first round and to defend it from Bobby Chacon by TKO 3. He also lost by SD in another bid to bring home a belt (WBO) to Hector Camacho (the elder), after losing his WBA throne to Livingstone Bramble ( they met twice: in the first was TKO'd and the second he lost by UD).
So, whenvever one watches a 12-round championship fight, like the one Barrera and Juarez just had, one may well remember Ray Mancini, the fighter.
Ray Mancini was very good. Un underrated boxer..not just a brawler. He was never the same after the Kim fight and retired early. Watch some of his fights..he was very good.
Mmm. That Mancini/Kim fight was a nightmare all the way around. To me, that was the most tragic boxing match I have ever seen, what with all of the repercussions...
Please edit; Directing movies because he lost all of his last 4 fights, Mancini was'nt that good, he was brave ill give him that.
I know you will be saying Mancini is smart and all just because he said Tony can beat Floyd but come on. ;)

If I was Castillo I would be insulted if someone compared me to Margarito. Margarito aint no Castillo and thats fact. Castillo does everything better than Margarito and is more Technically sound. Also Castillo is proven in the ring against A level fighters. Marg has fought nobodies and prospects. 147lb Version of Castillo my ass. Margs slow hand speed, wide punches and lack of defense is going to reduce him to a punchers chance in this fight.
Then I guess it is really a good thing that you are not Castillo...
I don't mean to get in the middle of this but I just wanted to clarify something. Hopkins has not been starving himself to make middle. Actually, he came into the DHL fight weighing 155 or 156. A man starving himself to make the weight would never be able to go that low. It is not uncommon for Hops to come in 1 or 2 pounds under 160. At the time of his prime, Mosely was not really starving himself either as it is common knowledge that he would confortably make 135. He bulked up to 147 nicely, but he was a very solid, but confortable 135-pound fighter. James Toney; that's another story... ;)
Oh... Also, on "The Scene" audio show, we've been saying that Margarito does have the style to beat Mayweather. He is an 147-pound version of Jose Luis Castillo and Floyd definately does not want any part of that monster again.
the second paragraph i aggree, but not about your comments about mosley and hopkins
hopkins as i said lost at light heavy then dropped to middleweight. having succes didn't come easy even as a champion so of course he's going to be their for as long as he can while toney and jones jr. were at super middleweight. only reason hopkins was able to make middleweight is because his is a nutrition, workout freak, or plain and simple he has great dedication and a great drive for him to always stay in shape and this is how he was able to stay at middlweight cause exercising wasn't just part of his boxing career but part of his life which allowed him to stay at middleweight, trust me, hopkins is going to look great at light heavyweight, well maybe not the greatest he is older but he will perform better in the ring.
as for mosley i remember him saying he didn't want to stay at that weight for long cause he was having difficult time making weight, its a fact that mosley fought at 139 in the amatures then starved himself, i remember mosley saying this. all you got to do is look at some of his performances at 135, when he won the title first few rounds he looked great then the second part of the fight he looked like shit, his power wasn't their cause he was weakening himself making weight.

bernard hopkins was a light heavyweight starving himself to make middleweight.
shane mosley was a jr. welterweight starving himself to make lightweight
james toney was a middlweight.....ah, nevermind
the list goes on, since you attack margarito who is confortable at welterweight, why not attack floyd who could have moved up in weight a long time ago....
their was even a time where floyd said, after his fight with rios, that he will make 25 jr. lightweight title defencs, LOL, what happened floyd, couldn't keep starving yourself to make weight, LOL

Floyd hasn't fought many guys worth a damn the last 3 years, especially considering his skill.
...Alot of people consider someone like Judah definately "worth a damn"
You could see that he was giving mayweather ALOT of problems, its just that moronic loss to baldomir crushed all his stock.
I think that was uncalled for and very disrespectful to Rocky Marciano. I hope it was not intended that way.
not at all brother rocky marciano is an all time favorite of mine...it was just a tounge and cheek jay leno type punchline joke more aimed at the stupidity of takeing mancinis word on who could beat a pure boxer

i said he was a good fighter, and you nor i can deny that he was good fighter. he was a world champion at lest give him some credit.
thats a low blow, maybe now i should post about what he is doing now, which is working as an actor, directing movies, putting movies out so he is smart when it comes to money, and he know boxing and was a good boxer himself. and still has his money he's made in the ring, i'd call that a smart man or a wise man.
Yeah you right. I guess even smart men say stupid things at times.
