from the past: holmes' jab hearns's staright right hagler right hook when used as a counter in the late 70s was pretty awesome monzon overhand right looked horrible but was one of the most effective punches I have seen robinson left hook while moving jones' leaping left hook... The best punch to have is a left hook to the body. I think the best punch to have is a good jab, I often saw fighters winning fights almost only based on their jab (winky, sturm, taylor) a left hook can be neutralized more easily, think of chavez-whitaker now... having a devastating left hook is far more spectacular
