The Size of peter is tremendous. He stands 6'1'' and weighs 253. Curiously I would like to measure his punching power agaisnt someone like foreman or perhaps liston. He is bigger than both were in there prime. Where does the exta size come from, like why didn't liston weight 250 or so or could he have had he done steroids or did more weight lifting......... ..... The extra wegith todays; fighters carry may be extra weight but it may not be solid and slows them down somewhat..........A good way to determine it's effectiveness would be to match them against old time fighters, but such can never take place.. :D .. Liston vs Peter, both big punchers, who would win................????????? :hijacked: :(
Even when Foreman hit them clean on the chin he usually had to follow up though. One punch Foreman knockouts were a rarity. In fact, a lot of his knockouts wins over quality opposition were stoppages and not KO's. He had EXTREMELY heavy hands but he was not an explosive one punch finisher.
Actually Peter may have better one punch power when I think about it. I don't know if Foreman ever had anything like the Jeremy Williams KO where one left hook was enough to take someone out.
ok but foreman did get a lot of ko's off one twos like the moore ko
it depends on who he's fighting
Peter's carrying TOO MUCH weight. He needs to be around 225 or 230...235 MAX, IMO.
If Sam Peter fights Wladimir Klitschko again or another tall outside boxer who runs from him and ties up on the inside he needs to be in fighting trim in order to track them down without tiring himself out. However, he didn't look flabby to me in the fight against Julius Long. He knew that Long couldn't effectively run from him. That's not even Long's style anyway in spite of his height and reach. The extra weight didn't seem to hurt Peter. I just looked and Sam Peter's weighed over 240 for almost his entire boxing career. Maybe 240 to 245 lbs. is about right for him.
Although Danny Williams should slim down, he's weighed between 260 and 275 lbs. for all of his last 8 fights and won 6 of them. Williams is about the same height as Peter.
Maybe guys are just getting bigger in the heavyweight division these days. I remember when people called Sonny Liston big at 215 to 220 lbs. Now that's viewed as a small heavyweight!
Jeremy Williams' chin is a bit weak but I think that very few boxers could have taken the left hook that Peter hit Williams with. Maybe Nikolay Valuev in the early part of a fight (when he's still full of energy) could take giant punches that way because of his size, and maybe the thick-necked, iron chinned David Tua could take a shot like that. I'm struggling to think of anyone else that could take such a punch.
that left hook was an arm punch. jeremy williams had the worst chin in boxing. who can forget light hitting henry akinwande making himself look like lennox lewis when he knocked williams cold with one right hand
Guys, I hope you realize that some people are just NATURALLY bigger than others...
220-235lbs is not some "standard" for EVERY big heavyweight to be in shape...
213-215 was good for prime Foreman and Liston...but draining for a Tua or Peter...225-230 is great for a prime Tua, but probably draining for a Peter...etc...etc...
nobody could have taken that shot
But Jeremy's chin is weak, I mean really weak.

"Sonny was a good boxer"
U kidding me? Sonny Liston is in the top 10 heavyweights of ALL TIME. "Good" is the biggest understatement EVER. Liston was AMAZING!!!!
And yea, that was a stupid question. Peter wouldnt make it out of the ring alive if they faced off. u crazy?

i think foreman still hit harder when he got a clean hit on the chin the guy was out right then and there . peter stuns then beats them out with 1 or 2 follow up punches
Oh...and for what it's worth. Sonny Liston would kick Sam Peter's ass...rip him to shreds and quite possibly put him to sleep. Sonny was a good boxer...Peter is not.
lol, yeah, liston was no slouch, before their was tyson or foreman their was SONNY LISTON :boxing:
