i heard this fight is about to be signed for a june date i forget what day in june but it's the day before the peurto rican day parade and the fight will be in new york. so who wins this one?
My favorite fighter : Cotto
My least favorite fighter: Malinagi
Add these two up, + the PR parade the next day, and i have a super awsome weekend
if it does get signed
Cotto mercs PM. What has Cotto shown he's vulnerable to? Big power shots...what does Malignaggi not possess...power on the regular.
It's hard for me to imagine people outboxing Cotto (even though he has short arms) unless they can get his respect with their power.
This is a complete mismatch, and Cotto would annihilate him. Paulie's got 21 wins against soft competition, with only 5 knockouts. He's a decent fighter, but Cotto's on a different level. I would be surprised if Malignaggi made it into the second half of the fight. Cotto is a much better fighter with way more quality wins. While this would be a nice payday for Paulie, this would expose him as an average fighter with below average power, and would kill any chance of ever getting another big fight. He has Super Featherweight power as a Jr. Welterweight, and he's not half as "slick" as he thinks. He has a unique personality, and that's basically the only thing that makes him stand out in the sport.
End of thread there.

Oh please.
I think this fight is a serious mismatch. The first left hook that lands for Cotto would knock Malignaggi out.
It's too easy to picture. He's not slick enough to evade any power punches thrown....because Cotto has faster hands.
Malignaggi looks like a ballerina fighting mailmen. Cotto has real boxing skills and real metal.
Cotto K.O. 1

Malignaggi would give Cotto trouble for the first few opening rounds with his movement, but Cotto would be steadily coming in and getting in a few good bodyshots here and there. By the mid rounds, Malignaggi's movement will have slowed considerably and Cotto is landing lots of good shots. Malignaggi speed and quickness will vanish under the constant pressure of Cotto, and we'll be left with a guy who is forced to stand toe to toe with Cotto, and has no power to do so with. Cotto breaks him down to stop him around 8.
very good assessment.
Paul is 21-0 fighting bums. He isn't ready for cotto. Looks like paul is taking a big step. Cotto is going to shatter his career. True story
I didnt know he even had that many fights yet.
Cotto KO 8

Cotto by TKO, Paulie wont be able to take those nasty body shots, plus Paul has no power at all. How what an ass whipping. But I will be rooting for Paulie because Cotto is a baby
Reid troubled Tito for several rounds, & dropped him.
Malignaggi-Cotto will only resemble the second half of Trinidad-Reid.
Much like the other limp-wristed Paulie (Spadafora), everyone will see how slick Malignaggi isn't...when faced with real comp.
What i meant to say is that cotto is going to send this chump away. Paul will not drop cotto. I'll put money on that.
But yea your logic is correct.
this is a poor man's david reid vs. felix trinidad. and we will get an even more devastating result. paulie dude i think your a great guy and i liked you while you lasted. good luck, ill miss ya dude.
This fight is going to be like Trinidad Vs Reid..

I don't think much of Cotto but it's going to take some power and pop to beat him, not slick skills. Paulie can dance but it's doubtful he'll be able to do so over 12 rounds without Cotto getting some good shots in on him. We haven't seen Paulie's chin tested but Cotto has enough juice to give anyone trouble.
Cotto will lose eventually, and soon, but I doubt it would be to Paulie.
this fight will never happen..number 1 malignaggi isnt any good..number 2 he's still in the "prospect" mode...id rather see cotto fight gatti then malignaggi
