Judah still IBF champion!
IBF championship chairman Lindsey Tucker has cleared up some confusion concerning the status of Zab Judah after his loss to Carlos Baldomir on January 7 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Judah is still the IBF welterweight champion because his title was not on the line as Baldomir did not comply with IBF rules for sanction.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Baldomir did not pay IBF sanction fees.
Rule 2.B: Sanction Fees – In each title contest, the promoter must submit payment of the entire sanction fee for promoter and contestants to the IBF/USBA Bout Supervisor at the Rules Meeting.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Baldomir did not participate in the second day weigh-in.
Rule 1.F: Second Day weigh-In – There shall be a second weigh-in on the morning of the event. At this weigh-in, boxers cannot weigh more than 10 pounds over the weight limit. If either boxer does not make the weight, the fight cannot proceed as a Championship bout.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As an aside, a condition of sanction is that all boxers fighting for IBF titles must become a participant in the IBF retirement and trust plan. This is a savings plan for boxers to ensure that they have some money put aside when they retire from boxing. Baldomir refused to join the plan.

zab is now the perfect example of a paper title holder, hes no champion in any shape, if the ibf had a nats cock ounce of decency in them they would vacate the title but they wont
The real winner here is Mayweather. if he beats Zab at least he gets a title and people probably won't tarnish him just cos he beat judah!

The only way Zab can regain some credibility is if he KOs some big fighters like PBF, Margarito, Hatton or Cotto... But I don't see any of that happening, ever.
I hope nobody forgot about the other brooklyn bred welterweight champ my boy Louie Collazo wba champhttp://www.wbaonline.com/wchampionships/images/collazosmall.jpghe's supposed to be fighting Oktay Urkal it was re-scheduled for a change of venue
thats like saying ruiz is still champion after having his ass handed to him by toney...let him have the belt, we all know who one...he has been exposed as a loser and the whole boxing community knows this...that probably hurts worse than losing that little alphabet trinket
you are wrong, toney was drugged and cheated............zab got his ass kicked, and if he really does hold the belt, then shame be upon him and even more the IBF......but what would you expect from such an organization?!?
