I'm interested to know how our boy ricky hatton is perceived amongst the boxing aficionados over your side of the pond?
A stream of greats have come from America, it is rarer here, i think Ricky's looking good, focused.
At this point in time i believe he is a huge threat to the welterweight division, his relentless attack is excellent in negating opponent's superiorites in speed and boxing skill.
It is understood that there are many exciting fights that can be made and he is prepared to stand to any man, showing his true heart. I think he's got real potential.
Your Thoughts?
That is if you enjoy punch and grab action. He is no different than John Ruiz even worse. He throws one punch then grabs his opponent, push them into the ropes, throws one-two, grabs and waits for the ref to break them up and does the very same thing all over again. Did I mention that's how he beat Kostya?
Funny that was Floyd Mayweather's tactic against him for at least four rounds. Is it "Mad Skillz" when Floyd does it?
im american and ricky hatton is one of my fav fighters today. hes exciting, he wins, he unifies, he semi-dominates, he can take it, he can dish it out, he can go the distance, hes got heart, hes aggressive, hes got skill, and i think that ricky hatton is the one person who can be the one to hand floyd mayweather jr his first defeat.
another example of american open mindedness and unbiased opinion. the british fans have something to learn from the american fans.
Ricky hatton supplies tons of energy and makes for GREAT ratings in my opinion.
watching him for a few rounds gives you more excitement that 10 current heavyweight fights...haha
its true.
i think hatton fairs better at 140 that 147...
i think if you want to see hatton be dominant it will be at 140. he would be competitive at 147 and be a VERY legitamate threat but i think he wouldnt get further than 2nd contender (behind cotto).
at 140 i can see him unify the titles to be honest and think he would be in jr welterweight what floyd is in welterweight...it would be ricky hatton on top with everyone else below him. That is if you enjoy punch and grab action. What makes him successful doesn't translate against welterweights so well.. He had trouble with Collazo. He's great at Junior welterweight. He should clean it up and dominate it. He'll be due to retire before being able to move up in weight and be great again.

yea man... that fight is likely to happen...probaly after the winner of corrales vs castillo...but if cotto fight one of them im assuming that he would want to fight a nobody then take a fight with hatton... or maybe not..
To me the jury is still out on Hatton as far as how good he is. He's had 1 big fight where he did well but hasn't been tested fully. Fighters like Cotto,Castillo,Corrales,Margarito, & Mayweather would provide us with a better assessment of his skill if he fought any of them. He's a good fighter but I'd like to see him in a few big fights before anything else.
I tend to agree with this.
He has an entertaining style, and he's a relentless body puncher which is something I like. I respected the way that he took the fight to Tszyu and made him quit, even if he used a few tactics that are looked down upon.
I really look forward to seeing him fight a Cotto or a Mayweather type of fighter. The British faithfuls keep saying that his skills are underrated so I would like to see them matched against two very skilled fighters in Miguelito and Mayweather.

He is definitely a monster!!!! Iv'e been following him for several years now, and I think he might even be the one with his relentless forward attack that can stiffle mayweather's speed. the show he put on against kostya tzu was amazing. I never thought i'd see someone do that to the wonder from down under. So to answer your question. he is definitely a highly regarded welterweight here in the states.

I have actually grown on hatton since the KT fight. the real issue is will he compete with PBF. my answer to that is no. But then again who can in that division
i think who ever he fights win lose or draw hel always give people their moneys worth, i can see him retiring as a 2 divsion champ but having 2 or 3 losses
he is a good, solid agressive fighter. i actully like him at jr welter right now, esp if he can get a fight with cotto and castillo
that would be some great television
