a few names that come to mind when i think of soft hitters are corey spinks, muhhamad ali (bob foster was quoted as saying "ali couldnt punch threw a paper bag")and william joppy who smacked his way to UD'S

WHITAKER? what are you guys taking?....he had power and he had a good chin...he rocked almost everybody he fought including chavez who robbed him of a ud....his problem was finishing people off...several fights he's been in he's rocked guys but he never jumped on them because he fights defense first offense second i kid you not watch his fights i'm serious and considering he continually jumped in weight class he still had power, her didn't carry it like roy jones but close enough
You know I think Whitaker's punching is a bit underrated, I'm not saying he has k.o. power but he was the type of guy who liked to play around and carry the fight never really sat on his punches, if we were to compare Sweet Pea to all the names that have already been mentioned he would probably be the hardest hitting out of all of them.
True, Pernell scored a first round ko in winning one fo this lightweight title fights. He also floored De La Hoya and backed up Trinidad a bit in their fight. Not a KO puncher but could punch harder than he did!
Slapsie Maxie Rosembloom and Willie Pep.
Rockin' :boxing:
if u didn't say slapsie, i would have, Byrd is a 'slapper' but this guy is the original 'slapsie'
half of byrd fights have ended in ko.
W 39 (20 ko's) | L 2 | D 1 | Total 42
yes he's a not a power puncher, but he can get you out of there,
just look what he did to jimmy thunder.
and i'm sorry but i dont find people who have mastered their craft
and can really box boring.
i find powerpunchers who can't box boring, its like watching drunks
have a barfight till they vomit.
infact that would be more entertaining than watching sam chase wlad
around the ring throwing caveman punches at the back of wlads head.
well byrd only has one since 2000

Not only is Byrd a soft hitter, he is sooooooo boring. He pitty-pats. Ali has numerous KOs on his record I believe he is like 56-5 with 37 KOs. I wouldnt say that he is a power puncher but he is definitely not soft. Consistent, well placed punches with significant power, that is what Ali was best at.
How about Pernell Whitiker. There are so many. Henry Maske ( IBF light heavyweight champ ) Barry Jones ( welsh fighter who held the WBO super featherweight title, retired now with only one KO in like nearly 20 fights ).
