.....I didn't see the fight yet but wow he seemed seriously hurt. He did a good job surviving that IMO.
Who are you to say that the punch wasn't hard? Tarver had his whole body, minus legs, thrown into that punch. Aside from that, he always throws awkward punches, and they are hard punches.
Jones doesn't have the best chin in the world, but that shot was not a soft one by any means. He gave Jones some big shots earlier that did nothing to him, and then in the 11th he caught him with that shot: hardly "not that hard at all."
I have had schooling in the sport but even if I did not have any I would know a southpaw cant get his body into a righthook while bending straight down. I have seen Trinidad hurt people without putting his body into his left hooks but what Tarver did was throw against his own body weight. It landed on the bone of the chin but thats only because it was an Awkward punch and Jones fell into it.
This was a big mistake for me to make a Tarver gif since I didn't get any karma at all LOL. When I made the Wlad-Peter gif when Peter was wobbly, I received 10 good K's in the first minute alone.
I guess I'll stick to making Klitchko, Trinidad & Pac gifs when there's a lot of fanbase and nuthuggers. From now on, Tarver is off my gif list, even if he KO's a heavyweight, hehe.
I'll give you 1 million points now and karma when it lets me if you put up a gif of the left hook that Wlad ate and him dodging the next punch at the end of the 3rd round against Peter!
I never said the first knockout was luck because the overhand left has always been Tarvers best punch but that right hook in the clip was a lazy defensive prayer. That punch does not land against most top ten fighters and if it does land it does not hurt top ten fighters.
shut up you prick, like you have any idea how Tarver's 'lazy defensive prayer' feels like. Never understood why asses like you come on here and talk shit when you don't have a clue. but of course, im sure u know just how every top ten fighter wud react to that punch, u must have calculated the force then measured it against their jaw density, and their heart relating to the tragedy of their upbringing or some bullshit rite? get a job mate, get a hobby, get a dog. ppppeace
anyone notice TARVER is better when he doesnt look where he is punching
I was thinking the same thing.
A pretty lucky punch considering he is looking at his own boots :D
Regardless he deserved the win.
that right hook looks good, but that uppercut was just awesome, how rjj didnt go down...i just dont know
have any rjj 5th/6th round tauntings of tarver?
I'm guessing it's one of these two options:
1. Roy has heart.
2. Tarver got tired.
I guess it depends which fan are you going to ask.
Like I said, I like Roy Jones but I believe if that right hook happened in the earlier rounds when Tarver still has full of energy, then Roy would surely have been KO'd. Correct me if I'm wrong but it's my opinion.
1. Roy has heart and guts man!!! id like 2 see any human try to recover and fight on after being concusses/farked up that badly!
when you are put in that position, u will know!!!
Yeah, that uppercut did look a hella vicious. Jones was backing out at the same time too and Tarver was charging in. He got real good momentum with that uppercut. It's just crazy seeing Jones get hit pretty hard and still stay up. The last two
knockous his head didn't even wobble as bad as that hook them uppercut combination. Hell the punch from Johnson looked like a regular punch and Jones just started to timber away and then knock himself out hitting his head on the canvas. But I think he was already pretty OUT in that fight. All Johnson had to do was hit him clean.
That clip shows us that Roy doesn't have a weak chin. He got hit with 2 powerful shots, and that uppercut looked vicious.
Wow that punch was not that hard at all and it had Jones walking like poorly programmed cyborg. Jones needs to hang them up pronto and Tarver better be carefull.
that was a very hard punch u cant tell in that gif but it was a hard shot, and tarver is heavy handed, atleast he had the heart to stay on his feet...Jones Wobbled Tarver in the 5th with a uppercut so Tarver can be hurt, Prim Jones woulda KOed Tarver

You know what, to be honest I'm an unnatural south paw and that right hook looked kind of sloppy. But he should have been able to finish off Jones after that...Jones looked like he was in la la land but man he stayed up...oh well. Good thing he didn't get further after that.

It should be noted that Roy came back at the end of that round and landed one of his best body shots in the fight throwing some combos at a tired Tarver.

In the earlier rounds, it may not have hurt him as much if he had more energy as well. I'm somewhat interested in seein' this fight now. I keep reading that Roy still had his speed in that fight, but it doesn't look like it at all from that clip. Roy of old threw a lead hook and was out of the way before anyone could get a shot in. It looked like he held that jab in there a little too long. I imagine it looks quite a bit different at full speed.

There's no way to correct you, so that's a foolish thing to say. It may very well have KOed him in the earlier rounds, but Jones took some decent shots in the earlier rounds, like when he grabbed the ropes and did his Ali-shuffle imitation, but he stayed up and kept "fighting."
At any rate, I think it was due to both options. Tarver was dead tired, and Jones showed a lot of heart not taking a knee right there.

Wow ... Roy never got hit by those punches earlier in his career ...
I haven't watched the fight yet, but how the hell did Tarver not finish Jones after that?!
I guess Jones' chin isn't too bad, because he survived that uppercut and the following punch ... I guess I'll have to see the whole fight.

After seeing this clip, can anyone really say that the knockout in their second fight was a lucky punch. I mean, cus after seeing the fight and then seeing this particular clip again, I'm 200% positive that luck had nothing to do with it. I mean, the punch that ko'ed Roy was a counter left hook, but people thought it was lucky cus it looked as if Tarver wasn't even looking. But in this clip you see almost the exact same thing except the counter punch is a right hook. Anyone else see this?
