Despite all of the arrogance of Wlad's "I told U so" fans, & despite the thoughts of the HBO team, both guys took big steps BACKwards last night:
Once again, Wlad showed that he can't take a heavyweight punch...I'll give him the credit for getting up and fighting back, that was a 1st for Wlad, but the fact remains that his chin is china and he'll most likely get KO'd by Brewster if they meet again....
Peter was exposed as a completely 1-dimensional fighter, I give him an ounce of credit for going 12 rounds with Wlad and holding up after eating about 5000 jabs, but he had no answers for Wlad's jab &/or movement
on the flip-side MIGUEL COTTO might be the next highlight-reel 140-pounder, now that Gatti has faded into oblivion....Cotto definitely ain't a world-beater, he'd get eaten up by Mayweather &/or Hatton, but he just might be the most exciting fighter on the planet right now
It's funny how you idiots still say Wlad has a glass chin because he got knocked down from being punched in the back of the head. But yet it is ok for other fighters to get knocked down or out by lighter punchers.Ali gets knocked down and almost out by Cooper but to some of you Ali has the best chin in boxing history.Tyson gets knocked out 5 times but none of you says he has a glass chin.
Wlad fought well but could of fought even better.Wlads confidence isn't the way it was before he lost to Sanders.Pre Sanders Wlad would of knock Peter out.Peter showed nothing really. His punch is only good enough to knock out the Jeremy Williams and Sykes out the worlds. The man is a fat lard ass who will never be champion.
Nothing Wlad or Vitali will ever do please you people. They are the best 2 heavyweights in world so deal with it retards.
a Tommy Hearns fan, defending the Klitschko's chins....
maybe Bill Clinton can vouch for your commitment to you wifey
I think the fight last night may have given Wlad some much needed confidence, but I don't think that it has really improved his overall standing by much.
Peter was schooled, but that was one of the only 2 ways the fight could have gone. The only way Peter was going to win was by KO, and I don't think that losing to a much superior boxer is going to hurt him if he continues fighting. If anything, last night should show Peter and his trainers that they need to improve his boxing skills rather than rely on just his punching power to make him a champ. I don't know if he can do that, though.
Wlad proved he can get back up, but none of the punches that knocked him down landed flush (and only one was a clean punch), nor did any of them that staggered him several times.
On the upside, Wlad's stamina an heart have shown definite improvement. I will withhold opinion on his future until I see him in again with someone who can throw a straight punch.
The most disappointing thing to me in the entire fight was that he looked like a John Ruiz with skills. I hope that this was just a plan for this particular fight against a bomber who can only throw looping punches.
Kind of like Lewis against McCall and Rahman no?
Well, I don't think Lewis had quite the glass jaw that Wlad has, but yeah, you're right :). I was a little more of a fan of Lewis though, because at least Lewis came back and KO'd both McCall and Rahman.
Wlad might do the same, but I won't be much of a fan until he does. Wlad has also been (T)KO'd three times and knocked down a hell of a lot more than Lewis was.
How could have Peter winning been good for the division. It would have brought some excitement, sure. However, someone was going to expose him, sooner or later. He's a limited, immobile, wide swinging fighter with no "Plan B". He needs a lot of improvement to become an elite player in this shallow ass division.
Well, if Peter had won last night, by KO, a lot fewer people would have had the opinion that he's a one dimensional fighter. Prior to last night, that was a question mark for a lot of people (and it probably would have remained a question mark, even if he beat Wlad).
He was definitely one dimensional earlier in his career, but there's been a lot of publicity around his trainer hopping, and how much he has developed over the past year or two. There was the possibility that he overcame that issue and would have shown it last night.
So, what I mean by the HW division taking a step back, is that, despite those who say "I knew it all along", Peter was really exposed for the first time last night. You can't really 100% know until a fighter is really exposed the way Peter was.
I think the heavyweight division took a step backwards last night. Not only did we lose the "next great thing" (I think Peter is going to go the way of Tua now), but now we have a glass jawed, clincher back in contention for the HW belts.
Wlad can box and hit pretty hard, but I don't understand anyone who wants a heavyweight champ that can be put on the canvas by a stiff breeze.

hey sactown my feelings exactly, thats why i gave you 1000 points!!!!
wlad cant take a punch,he gets hit by a sort of sigificant shot and goes in survival mode with is legs turning into jelly!!
SacTown1 stop trying to deflect criticism away from yourself. Why don't you just own up to the fact that your a biased dickhead, and you just have something against the K boys.
I'm biased, and I hate the Klitschko's....
was that a mystery or something???
by the way, the sky is blue, and grass is green
and Sugar Shane is beyond washed up
btw I'd never deflect criticism, BRING IT ON!
and also btw, only retarded teenagers would still use "dickhead" as a burn, so thanks for showing us who you really are :)
just basic facts, no more no less
That was Wlad's mistake as much as Peter's. Peter didn't aim at the back of the head. Wlad turned his head way around in the middle of clinches to avoid having his glass jaw shattered by big overhand rights.
there's somebody who understands the finer points of the sweet science, great post!
That's wrong... Rabbit punching is an illegal move in boxing.
If you keep doing it, you'll get disqualified.
was Peter even WARNED for those punches? Nope! You can't get disqualified if there are no warnings/point deductions....
Was Jirov warned or penalized vs. Mesi? Nope!
Was Riddick Bowe penalized for flooring Holyfield in round 11 of their 1st fight for his shot to the back of Evander's head? Nope!
IT'S PART OF BOXING!
What happened to Peter TKO 3 Wlad?
yeah, i was WRONG, i've been wrong before, will be wrong again I'm sure, SO WHAT?!?!
BTW Sac Gangs are the SOFTEST on Earth, my original hometown of NAPA has harder gangs, so have fun with your drive-by eggings & bammer doja
It's pretty hard to "take" frequent punches in the back of the head.

it was supposed to spell doom last night! all I am saying is that you are talking as if we JUST found out about Wlad's weak chin last night...as if we JUST found out about Peter's one dimensionality last night...the first time we saw Peter before and Wlad fight was discussed, we knew he was one dimensional...this is boxing...not everyone is Ali...we already knew Wlad had a weak chin...
what elevated them is that we saw Peter's chin finally tested, and he showed his worth...we saw Wlad's stamina and heart tested again, and he showed up better than in the Brewster and Sanders fights...
you cannot train a freaking chin...if it is weak, it is weak...all you can do is train the fighter to try to get hit less, improve stamina, learn to hold at the right times, and learn to survive when hurt...
I hear ya, those topics had been discussed before, so it wasn't altogether "new news"....
like I stated before, my one big hope for last night was for a SUPERSTAR to emerge, we found out, once again, that both guys have big tool-boxes with very few tools in them....okay bad analogy....both guys have great attributes, but niether guy is a special fighter that can dominate the division
It's pretty hard to "take" frequent punches in the back of the head.
quick boxing fact:
if you lean in, and hold, and the opponent is still in an offensive position, that opponent CAN HIT IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD!
Watch Mesi-Jirov for perfect evidence of a CLEAN, LEGAL punch to the back of the head, it's part of boxing
only one of us is crying homeboy, I'm just stating the thought that neither guy has improved a whole lot recently, if you think your boy Wlad is a great fighter after what happened last night, feel free, it's your time 2 brag, but he's a big target with no chin, which will spell doom sooner than later

You are obviously trying to compensate for the "prediction" threads you made.
I will say....your other predictions were pretty good. One thing you could have left out though...was this thread.
You have nothing to contribute to this site other than hatred towards every fighter who is not a picture of perfection.
Instead of making all the excuses and compensations....you might think about just shutting the fuck up for once.

what you don't understand is that we already knew Wlad has trouble taking punches...unless you have been blind, we already knew that Peter was one dimensional...
we all went into this fight expecting Wlad to go down, expecting Peter to be one dimensional, expecting Wlad to have the better skills, expecting both men to show great power...
if anything they both elevated themselves because we saw what we didn't expect...that is that Wlad showed better stamina and ability to stay in the fight and keep control...and we saw Peter's untested chin be tested and show its worth in the HW division...
all that Wlad's weak chin and Peter's one dimensionality...if you are a boxing fan...you already knew that...that is what made the fight so interesting on paper when it was first signed...
your glass-half-full approach is admirable, but I was hoping for a new SUPERSTAR to emerge last night, not for just another 12 round heavyweight hug-fest
you can have Wlad, no dirt off my shoulder, he's still top-15 to 20 at best
