I just watched Legendary Night: Chavez vs. Taylor
I feel very sorry for this great fighter.
Got robbed of a fight in Chavez vs. Taylor I and suffers a severe brain damage. His urine was pure blood after the fight!!!
He's not just punchy, I can't understand most of what he says.
His hand speed was amazing. Personally, I thought it was faster than Leonard's. The guy was throwing 8 punch combination in less than 2 seconds!
Does he deserve to be a hall of famer?
I want to hear you guys' opinions. I strongly feel that they guy deserves it, he won the world title, gave great fights with chavez even though he lost, gave many great stories to tell and also controversial, sad ones too.
I hope this guy's making a decent living. Many boxers end up broke after their careers over.
I would've donated some money if there was some kind of foundation.
Matthew Saad Muhammad is in the hall of fame and i would say his career is similar to meldrick's. They were great for about 5 years and then they were done. Both were awesome while thier peaks lasted though.
I wish...but I don't think he'll make it.
As the wise marvdave put it: hall of fame talent? yes... hall of fame career? not quite...
But hell, if you want to go off his best two performances then maybe he'd get in. He beat Buddy McGirt BADLY and he holds a W over Chavez in my book.
I think he will get in for a couple of reasons....
#1. The guy was amazing before he got kicked retarded.
#2. Like it or not...boxing feels somewhat responsible for the screw job it did on the Chavez fight, and the resulting downward spiral of this poor mans life.
I think his talent, and his story add up to enough to get him pushed through.
i think don't think so, there are a lot of boxers with great stories but never accomplished enough in the ring

I don't think either Vasquez or McGirt will get in.
I think McGirt is more likely to. Vasquez may have the better numbers with the title defenses and all, but Buddy is more well known and had some success training, which may help with those who vote.
Nah, McGirt was a good fighter, but not a hall of famer, imo. JC Vasquez is a different story tho; I think he will actually make it in, but he's a borderliner. Dont ask me why, though, cuz it's just a feeling I have. I know that sounds stupid, but I dunno how to explain it. Just that when I see his stats and some of his fights, there are times that I fell he should and times that I could make the argument against it.
if you judge his career on 1986-2000, vasquez would make it. I dont think his losses from 2001-2006 should count.
do u think julio cesar vasquez and buddy mcgirt are good enough to make it, both of them have beat like 5 good fighters.
Vasquez beat:
carl daniels
winky wright
aaron davis
javier castillejo
He defended his belt 10 times in total and won it on two ocassions. In his prime he only lost twice.
Mcgirt Beat:
frankie warren
simon brown
de leon
oliva
howard davis jr.

Possibly.
The HOF standards are not high in boxing.

Hall of fame Talent...yes
Hall of Famer....no
very sad story. Taylor was incredible early on. He embarrassed the very talented Buddy McGirt and made him look silly. After Chavez he was never the same. He tried to move up in weight, but was too small.
Very sad indeed..I hope he is ok now
wait a minute..If Mancini can get in, why not Taylor?
