Prime tyson kicks foremans ass . All this bullshit you read about cus telling tyson that a fighter like foreman would kill tyson is bullshit . Buddy mcgrit who trained tyson for a bit said that cus told mike that he would never have to protect mike from any fighter , cus believed that tyson with his power, speed and elusiveness was unbeatable .
Anybody who thinks tyson would win has lost all touch with reality.
Some of Tyson's early fights have been on ESPN classic this week, and if Tyson was getting hit with those shots from a prime 225 pound foreman, it would have been all over.
Also, I do realize that by retroactively picking Spinks and Holmes to beat tyson, I am officially a hater.
tysons people actually ducked the old foreman. rofl @ prime vs prime.foreman would have damaged tysons brain in prime vs prime.
a peekaboo puncher going against an open gloved style like foreman's is pure suicide.
Mike Tyson would have a few glorious moments early on, because of his speed and explosiveness. But he would never stand a chance to beat Foreman. I say Foreman knocks out Tyson early.
George Foreman by ko4.
Yeah! That Wayne Rooney was something else!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry for being sarcastic, this one was wide open! It's Kevin Rooney!!!
I happen to agree that Tyson was phenominal in his prime! Looking back on Foreman's fights like Ali, Lyle and Young, I cannot help but invision Tyson nailing Foreman at will. Foreman threw long looping punches (in a lot of cases) and was a big target! Obviously Foreman winning is not out of the question, but his beating Tyson as easily as some feel is rediculous to me. Tyson is the same size as Frazier (approx) but Tyson was much faster overall and more elusive than was Frazier. It would be a war!
Before last month, I'd have agreed with you. Then I saw an ESPN Classic airing titled "Foreman vs Paez". This episode happened to feature not only that fight but Foreman vs Roman and Foreman vs Norton as well. I realized watching that fight that Foreman had one weapon in his arsenal that modern fighters lack -- the modified push. Foreman fought with open glove a good percentage of the time, and used his arms for actually punching far less than people think. Revisit Round 1 of his first fight with Joe Frazier. I think you will be amazed at the number of times Foreman pushes, "cuff blocks", parries, or redirects Joe. At one point, he even uses a 2 handed push in combination! Seriously. Count the number of times Foreman uses his arms and hands for something other than punching. I think you'll be surprised. I count at least 20 times where this occurs. For that matter, not to be facetious, Foreman's actual punches are only variations on shoving. In a very real sense, he just pushes really fast when he's hitting a guy. This is why even blocked jabs from the guy physically halt or back opponents up. This is especially notable in the Paez fight where Paez is simply shoved onto the floor.
Twice.
The referee warns Foreman about pushing in this fight.
The referee in the Frazier fight also warns Foreman about pushing.
I can't recall if Foreman is warned in the Norton fight for pushing, but he does so. And Zack Clayton lets Foreman get away with this in his match against Ali, but fight announcer Bob Sheridan makes proper note of it, even to saying, "Foreman will push to set up his punches. When he pushes he tries to combo off of that. That's his secret."
I have to agree. And I have to say that this would be the deciding factor in a Mike Tyson George Foreman bout. If Tyson has hands of dynamite, Foreman is a bulldozer. If Tyson was pushed around by Holyfield, who was pushed around by the older version of Foreman, the 1973 version of Foreman would bend Tyson to his will in record time.
Tyson had explosive power, but not the kind of mass-moving strength of George Foreman. It is almost absurd, when you're looking for it, to note just how pervasively Foreman was able to use his strength in this way, even against opponents like Norton, who were as large, heavy, and well-built as he was. Just 4 minutes of this treatment was enough for the bulk of Foreman opponents until Ali. I don't see Tyson being able to escape getting discouraged and knocked out by prime Foreman's open glove treatment. Prime Foreman beats Tyson in 2.
Marciano is probably my favorite fighter of all time, however most people agree that Foreman had more brute power. The Rock obviouly hit like a truck, but his KO's tended to be more combination shots or KO's after accumulated punches.
Granted he did have his share of 1 punch knockouts, but out of most of the fights I've seen of him, it wasn't usually the case.
No heavyweight has hit as hard as him
are you sure, what about marciano? a ko ratio does'nt mean everything i know, but to compare ko ratio's, rocky is still number 1 in history with 88%, foreman a close second at 87%.
Why are we even bothering - Foreman before Rumble would have battered prime Tyson. It took arguably the smartest fighter to grace the ring to out think and in effect end Foreman (in terms of world domination - the way he was.)With the greatest respect to Mike Tyson brains are not his best atribute
Tyson would win because of his speed and agression.
Speed and aggression means nothing when it's being compared to:
1. Size
2. Strength
3. Power
4. Jab
5. Aggression
6. Chin
7. Heart
Everyone seems to forget that Foreman was a freak of nature. He was abnormally strong, even for his size. No heavyweight has hit as hard as him, including Tyson.
Tyson stands no chance whatsoever in this fight, much like the better version of Tyson, Joe Frazier.
Tyson would win because of his speed and agression.
He would win the first 6 or so rounds with his speed and skill. But eventually like I said he would lose mental discipline, and get knocked out. He will either get scared or more likely start fighting emotional, abandoning everything else and just plodding right in trying to land 1 big knockout punch. I gurantee.
Actually I think this fight would be more competetive than I originally thought. Tyson in his prime could actually box. He was a great body puncher, had a jab, great movement, always used angles. And he always had the power. The thing about Tyson is that he never had the mental fortitude to use all of his tools, whenever he was faced with adversity even early in career like for instance against Bonecrusher Smith he would break out of boxing and just start standing straight up and trying to land a big right. Which is essentially all he did later in his career. Tyson in slugging mode is still a bad mofo but not bad enough mofo standing in front of Foreman. Even Kevin Rooney could not keep him disciplined mentally. I actually think with Tyson's good boxing he would win maybe even the first 6 rounds. But he wouldn't win them easy. Around the middle of the fight he would break out of boxing, and just going for the one big right hand KO. At that point Foreman would take over and and have him out by 8th or 9th round.
"Foreman didn't look good against Ali, Lyle and Young".....blah, blah blah. Tyson didn't look good against Douglas, Holyfield, Lewis, Willaims or McBride. It's called PRIME vs PRIME.
We already saw this fight. It took place in 1973 in Kingston Jamacia. Mike, err I mean Joe came screaming out against George and landed a big left hook. Granted across the board tyson probably hits a little harder than Joe, but Joe's left hook ranks up there with anyone's punch. What did George do? He simply pushed Joe away and there was nothing Joe could do about it. Then George tee'd off with STRAIGHT precise punches at first and the rest is history. George can and would push mikey around the ring at will.
Besides, why can't the tyson nuthuggers accept one fact. tyson had a chance or the most lucrative fight IN HISTORY with a 40+ Foreman and he turned it down. Who turns down the most lucrative fight in history? A scared fighter, that's who. End of story.
Bad matchup for Mike, who always had problems with tall guys with a stiff jab. Tyson in his prime would stand a decent chance of getting inside and landing because he was so quick and accurate, but probably a 7/10 chance he would get hammered like Joe did before he even got there.
Look when tyson was with wayne rooney i dont believe there was a fighter in history who could of beaten him , tyson had problems with boxers even in his prime the pinklon thomas fight for example but once tyson put the pressure on he broke them down and knocked them out . As larry merchant said about tyson during his prime "every fighter that faces tyson comes with a plan but that plan disintegrates like a broken piece of crockery when its faced with that kind of pressure there is just no way to practice against it "
Yeah! That Wayne Rooney was something else!!!!!!!!!!

I don't hate pointing out your dead wrong. Tyson was a record setting heavy with two wins over certified HOFers. Tyson was the only man to KO or beat Spinks, and Tyson was the only man to KO Holmes and he KOed both as easily as the average citizen orders a cheeseburger. Holmes fought and schooled contenders for a decade more, he was not washed up. He was just past his prime, but a very savvy effective fighter.
I already picked Foreman over Tyson, but really, you should study up on histories and styles of the sport.
foreman is too big and too strong for tyson to handle.
i hate to start this up again, but tyson's resume is not very good. his big wins were agianst a washed up former champ,(holmes) a cruiserweight who came out with kneepads and took a fall, (spinks) and a moderatly above average big guy. (berbick) tyson was all intimadation, but so was foreman. weve seen what happens to tyson when he faces someone whos not scared of him
