New to the site, but i constantly keep seeing Miguel Cotto as a top rated Lt.Welter. First of all, lets take his last two fights. First is was Corley, who had him hurt sooooo bad if Corley was a fighter, he should of had him out.. Next it was abdulaev, who again caught him with a straight right and had him hurt for nearly two round until he cut and tired... It just reminds me of a similiar young fighter who had all the skill and was thrown in with top-notch competition too fast and it ruined his career.. Fernando Vargas.

Good post. Its glad to see someone agrees with me. Cotto is a good fighter but he so far to me doesnt show the skills of a elite fighter. Now, yes those skills can be taught. But to me i feel cotto doesnt even show the skill that elite fighters usually posses at 25 fights. All the hype surounds him because puerto ricans are loyal to young PR fighters. IMO though i think all the hype is going to be just that, "HYPE"
cotto beats hatton he has superior boxing skills to hatton and he will not get bullied around like tszyu did cotto can also fight well of the ropes he did alot of that in his last fight. most people think that cotto is nothing which is based on his fight with corley , i disagree cotto is the future of the div he can beat everyone except for floyd who nobody beats at this weight ..
Cotto being stunned and Cotto being hurt are two different things. Cotto was NOT hurt by that Abdullaev right hand but it certainly got his attention. The Corley right was a great flush shot that hurt Miguel badly. Miguel should have went down and took the count but he stayed up and did well to survive. Everyone says that Corley did the worst job ever of finishing him but he actually caught him with another couple of right hands upstairs but Miguel took them well. If you think I'm full of shit watch the round again. 1:25 in the round and a huge right hook at the very end of the round. He could have done much better but he did tag him with some good shots.
Anyway, I think Cotto can beat everyone in the division if he moves, is patient, and sells out early to the body (Floyd).
Hatton would have more success than Gatti. Gatti allowed there to be distance between them. He did not follow the pattern that Jose Luis Castillo set in his first and to some degree second fight with Floyd.
Jose Luis Castillo showed that you need to close the gap on Mayweather. Even if you don't throw punches doing it. You need to maul Floyd and get him against the ropes to have ANY success at all. Hatton will be able to do this to some degree.....but he lacks Castillo's power, so Floyd will still beat him.
Cotto is going to be one of the tougher fighters to beat at 140 next to Floyd. I have always been critical but in my objectivity I cannot deny this.
I will probably be the first to say this, but 140 lbs. days of being the most talent rich division are about done. Very soon it will be either 130 lbs. or 135.
EXACTLY...........HATTON would have COTTO for breakfast and put him into retirement....so he should stay clear of HATTON and of course MAYWEATHER.
Let him take it easy and defend his WBO belt against WBO contenders for 2-3 years before taking the jump.
i wouldnt say all that.... I think cotto would take this one.
I think way to much is being made of Hatton and his victory over Kostya. The man had a great game plan but his style is perfect for Cotto. I would love to see a fight between Cotto and Hatton. Also don't be surprised when Cotto puts Hatton down with a shot to the body. However I agree with everyone else stay the hell away from Mayweather.
mayweather n hatton is born fighters...cotto been tought to fight

i dont think cotto is ready for someone like mayweather, and with hatton he'd have a tough fight and maybe even lose.
on the other hand, people need to shut the fuck up about him being "stunned" against corley...who the fuck cares? he got careless and he paid the price. mayweather was stunned against corley. hatton was KNOCKED DOWN against some random journeyman. who cares, it happens...
