larry said he didn't rate tyson very well, and that he just fought tyson at the wrong time, i think larry would have worn tyson down with that jab and won easily if he had not been coming off a lay off
You say larry dosent rate tyson well larry dosent rate anyone except himself , larry holmes has an inflated opinion about himself and his abilites as a boxer
this is a REALLY STUPID thread. plz let it die.
You're a smart one arent you. Kill a thread buy posting on it!
ANYWAY! I think a really good jab frustrates the hell out of Tyson.
I believe that as Tyson got older and more one dimenional, he would run out of ideas and stratagies quiker. But even when he fought Holmes, i thought at the beginning of the last round, Holmes briefly danced and jabbed, and it was clear Tyson was easily kept at distance and picked off.
Holmes in his prime, with good punch resistance gives Tyson real trouble.
I think Tyson would have eventually caught up with Thomas if they had both of been in their prime.
Pinklon's Thomas's name value is worth alot innit? Cant say thats undeserving, just every fight I ever saw him in he looses, that is against Holyfield and Tyson though.
Tyson beat a past his prime pinklon thomas recovering from heroin rehab but dose tyson beat a prime pinklon thomas ? .
was Pinky really a recovering heroin addict? That's unusual for a fightter, to be a junky, ain't it?
i think a better question would be could he beat a prime larry holmes?, pinklon thomas was a bum just like all the guys tyson beat
I disagree that thomas was a bum . Angelo dundee said that pinklon thomas had the best jab in the division since sonny liston, thomas was regarded as having the best jab in the division even better than holmes . After the fight tyson said that thomas was a great fighter and had a great jab, thomas was the only guy that tyson fought that he ever mentioned as a great fighter outside of larry holmes who was an old man when tyson beat him and was no longer a great fighter .
I rewatched the thomas tyson fight yesterday , thomas gave tyson a lot of trouble with his jab , in the first round tyson comes out like a train and gives thomas a beating but in the next round thomas starts jabbing tyson and frustrates him , in the third thomas get up on his toes and sticks the jab in tysons face, in the forth and fith thomas starts to dictate the pace of the fight and wins those two rounds but in the sixth tyson stops jabbing with thomas and puts the pressure on him and starts throwing some punches . I has tyson ahead by 2 points at the time of stoppage i gave the first round to tyson 10 -8 , i gave tyson the next 2 rounds 10-9 , atlthough they were cpmpetitive and thomas rounds 4 and 5 . Larry merchant had the fight even at the time of stoppage but bob sheridan had tyson winning ever round . It was a very difficult fight to score in my opinion . How did you guys score the fight ? .
so your saying that tyson knocks out prime holmes one round quicker than tyson v rusty holmes?
i was wrong, tyson did knockout holmes in the 4th, but my point is still the same, he beat a larry holmes coming of a lay off, and who wasn't at his best at that time
Marvellous TG you say evander holyfield had good foot movement in his youth but he didnt dance, how did holyfields foot movement differ to holmes foot movement ? .Was evander as fast on his feet as holmes ? .
Tyson beat a past his prime pinklon thomas recovering from heroin rehab but dose tyson beat a prime pinklon thomas ? .
A prime Mike Tyson would be given a competitive battle by a prime Pinklon Thomas. Thomas' jab would give Tyson fits. But Pinklon's ability is somewhat overrated, and outside of Coetzee, Tillis, and Ratliff never really fought anybody on the way to the title.Tyson's speed and hunger, more so than his power, sees him to a unanimous, but competitive 12 round decision.
Pinklon Thomas blew chunks. I never really could tell or care what his prime was because he was in prime during a very forgettable period for the heavyweights. Tyson KO's him again
The prime holmes the one who barely beat tim witherspoon and carl williams not to mention won a sd against an old well past his prime ken norton would beat prime tyson the guy who fights werent contestants but one sided beatings .
Prime holmes would slaughter tyson! My opinion is a wee bit biased, cos holmes is one of my favorite h/w boxers, but i think holmes would slughter him with real boxing skills and jabs. I say holmes by a late k.o or a huge points win.
P.s, Pinklon thomas had no prime, he was always a junkie and a mediocre champion. Tyson could probably take a prime Thomas now (ok, maybe a slight exxaguration, but u get the point)
well said, tyson just beat a rusty holmes coming off a lay off, holmes is the best name on his record, but it wasn't a real larry holmes anywhere near his best

To answer your question about prime tyson against prime holmes the tyson from the spinks fight knocks holmes out in 4 rounds . Marvelous TG you say evander holyfield had good foot movement in his youth but he didnt dance , how did holyfields foot movement differ to holmes was evander as fast on his feet as holmes ? .

I think I speak for both old gringo and myself when I say, Tyson KO Holmes in 4...similar to Naseem Hamed vs. Kevin Kelley.
Only if Tyson is on his toes, using his foot arches to dance like Bonecrusher Smith.
